Sunday, 6 pm, LeapVSBN11 TAKE THE LEAP: Pick a Technique
Title: L. E. A. P. - Pick a Technique
Hostess: JoyceAnn (AnniePanda)
Keyword: LeapVSBN11
Day/Date: Sunday, April 1
Time: 6:00 PM (EST)
Every Leap Year an unmarried lady can pick a partner to join her in her walk through life. If accepted, wedded bliss is sure to follow! For your challenge this time you are to pick your techniques to use on your scrapbook page. Some are hopefully new and exciting to you. Isnt this a CHALLENGE after all? Try to pick techniques from at least 3 of the 4 letters all 4 if you are brave enough (hehe).
L is for Layers. Lots and lots of layers, or at least 2 mats under a photo to qualify. Adding some extra pieces of card stock or patterned paper, any size, add interest to a scrapbook page.
E is for Embossing. There are 2 basic techniques that come to mind when embossing is introduced. Dry or wet. Wet can be achieved by stamping with something wet, like Versamark or any ink (especially the stay wet longer inks), then pouring on the embossing powder. I was intimidated at first with this technique but now I love watching the powder turn glossy under the heat gun. Dry embossing is achieved with any of those plastic folders.
A is for Altered Use. The ideas abound here. Try altering a piece of chipboard, photo, or alter anything from its original purpose. Another idea is to alter your glossy card stock with alcohol inks, or take a piece of acetate from packaging and stamp it or punch a couple of holes in it and tie a bow on it.
P is for a Plethora of Pretties! Here are some possibilities to ponder: use Pearl-Ex, pastels, punches, pearls, paint. If you can find and use some embellishment or technique that starts with a P it counts.
You have techniques from the word l-e-a-p to work with as you create your scrapbook page. Be sure to tell us what letters you used and why.
See the GALLERY for this challenge...please try to leave a loving comment for everyone! We always appreciate a little luv.

Hi Joyce! I just uploaded the last challenge and ready for this one! What a cool challenge! The layers, I can do that. Embossing, I love dry embossing and how you described it "those plastic folders". p pretties got that. The a-altared. going to think on that one!! Great challenge! Like how you think..

Good ideas Joyce Ann. I've got to run to the grocery store before it gets too dark here. I just realized the sale ends today on large eggs they've got for 97 a dozen and since we make sure DGS eats an egg for breakfast every day before school, we need to make sure we have plenty on hand. Be Back soon!
Hey I figured out why the challenges are being posted twice. It's my fault. Sorry about that! I'm new at all this responsibility so please bear with me!

Here is mine! I did this page to go with last challenge's page! it was fun. I don't know if you can see, but the embossing is on the butterflies and the flower. I embossed the cs then punched them out!
I'm back. I used to love doing the wet embossing but when DGS came to live with us it was too noisy since I did most things in the evenings and once he was walking, I didn't do it anymore since he could get into things and that hot gun was not a good thing. I know there is a way to emboss in digi, I just got to find it again.
L and P won't be a problem but the other 2 I'll have to research a bit before I can do them.
It's lightning outside so I might not be on here for long. Satellite internet doesn't cooperate very well when the weather is bad. I will be here for as long as I can!

I was able to definitely do L E and P. A might be considered done if you consider taking the twill tape and adding the word to it instead of using one of the predone ones It's a little more difficult to "alter" something in digi unless you consider changing the size, shape, or color which I did on most of the things on this page.
Thanks for the fun challenge. This is how I ended up doing it:
L is for Layers. Lots and lots of layers. In my case, at the deepest level, there are 7 layers of paper, but over the entire page, there are 10 layers: base, 2 vertical borders, background of journaling, journaling, 2 photo mats, picture, horizontal border, title.
E is for Embossing. I dry embossed the layer under the journaling.
A is for Altered Use. I'm not sure that I really "altered" anything beyond its intended use, but I did take 2 pieces of scrapbooking paper and use it only for the circles...for me, that's altered!
P is for a Plethora of Pretties! I used lots and lots of shimmer paint around the picture. It's hard to see in the photo, but it is there, linking the picture with the journaling.
