Let's say the "Rubber Stamp Police" made a raid on your home tonight and said that you could only keep ONE stamp. What would that one stamp be and why did you choose that one?
You ARE allowed to keep any embellishments, embossing folders, die cuts, etc. that you have, BUT you have to get rid of all your stamp images except ONE. Which one would you keep??? [And, no, you can't keep an entire stamp set.]
I haven't thought this through long enough to answer my own question, but I sure am curious about your thoughts.

Initial reaction: Can't do it. It would be wrong to break up a "family" that way.
2nd thought: my "Perhaps they are not stars. . ." sentiment from Quietfire. Mainly because I wanted that stamp for YEARS before I finally gave up on finding the same sentiment in a format that I liked better (and I even tried computer-generating something) and finally caved and ordered it from Canada.
But of course, since they have $6.99 flat rate shipping to the US for stamps, no matter how many you order, I had to order a number of other sentiments, too.
Ah, Ravioligirl said stamp images so I'm assuming I can keep my sentiment and alphabet stamps - those can take me a long way!
In this imaginary secenario, I think I'd probably keep this one - Tree Swallow Silhouette (a Cornish Heritage Farms stamp). Why? Because you can make masuline or feminine projects with it and it's versatile style-wise too (artsy, grungy, CAS, vintage...).
In reality, I'm glad the "Rubber Stamp Police" don't actually exist
I'm ok. I just dreamed you said I only have one stamp. ha ha ha
Oh you did, but that would be in another universe. Hmmm, if I was in this other universe, I would chose............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ......*4 hours later* I would choose............................................ .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ...........................just one?
Beautiful stamp Joanne.
Mine would be a bird stamp too by cArt US, the one used on the front of this card wallet but as it is such a tiny stamp perhaps I could snatch two Plus, working on Joanne's theory I'd have sentiment and alpha stamps too!
Wow..that is a tough one.. I am thinking my old standard Stipple Rose by Stampin' Up. I could use it for all different reasons... Gosh, I have so many favorites...
I would keep the flower bunch from Close as a Memory. It looks good with all color combos and can be used with a variety of greetings (can I keep a few of those, too?). My husband would really like the phone number for the Stamp Police and then he can have his living room back.

Reason: type
I'd be sitting on death row for murder because no stamp police is going to TOUCH my stamps, let alone leave me with only one image. Nope, might as well fire up the lethal injection machine now.
I'm actually in the process of purging some of my toys. After cleaning my mother's house last week, I decided not to make my children go through that #@!!. Last night I pulled probably 100 sets (both SU and non-SU) and probably 100 individual stamps. Doesn't even look like I've made a dent. Ugh. Moving on to the papers & tools tomorrow and hopefully the embellishments.
I think it is safe to say that, even though stampers are known for being big hearted, all that goes out the window in a heartbeat when you try to take away our toys. We WILL fight to the death! LOL!
It would have to be one of my beautiful leaves. Not sure which one exactly but it works in any color for any occasion. A very close second would be the row of trees someone else said from Lovely as a Tree. The leaf does win out though...
It would be much easier if you'd say we could keep one stamp for a female card and one for a male card. If allowed to do that, I'd probably choose the teacup from Stampin' Up's "Teacup with Pansies" (that I got from the OP) and the front-facing engine from Stampin' Up's "All Aboard" set.
But since I can only have ONE stamp and I have to use it for both male and female, I would pick the grove of trees stamps from the "Lovely as a Tree" set.

Oh My!!! What a toughie!
After looking at my sets for about 5 minutes my answer surprised me.
I'd have to pick the big medallion type flower from SU's Friendly Flowers. One could just stamp the outer design, or one of the other three rings of designs or a combo of two or three. The four areas of the flower/medallion did it for me. I love this set, have had it for about four years but have only used a few times.
The second runner up also surprised me. It is a large stamp I got at a rummage sale. It was made by Northwoods Rubber Stamps/1999. It has a mill, stream, rocks, a fence and trees. One could do alot with this one stamp. I've never used it. I've had it about a year.

LOL....I panicked after I posted this because I thought no one would respond. But, upon checking today I was thrilled with the number of posts. You are ALL so funny. What is surprising is that the majority of the answers have been stamp images of "nature" type theme. It is true that birds, trees, leaves and such ARE good for male/female and any type cards.
I'm thinking we will have to watch for Ragtop [Regina], POST #18... posting in the Buy/Sell forum, if she's truly going to sell her purge!
Love seeing the pictures of the images chosen to keep. Great creations.
I'm still thinking about my answer....I do have lots of tree, leaves and bird images. Need to get those out and use them.
Okay if the stamp police came today and left me with only one stamp....wonder which sites (who has free shipping) and stores (coupons) I would be hitting right after they left. . .
One stamp - I'm with the others, Lovely As a Tree...
