Default WT367 - Rub-Ons (03/22/12)

Hello and Happy Thursday!

I have no witty introduction today :(

What I do have is a fun challenge! Today we are all about rub-ons. I love rub-ons, especially for a sentiment. I can apply them straighter than I can stamp them. So go ahead and get them out. Use images or sentiments, many or one, huge to tiny...it all counts. Show me what you have got!

Here is my sample for today: A Rub-On Flower

Here is Hannah's sample for today: Ooh La La

Steph's, Hannah's & Michelle's sample are attached below.

Happy crafting people

Remember to use the keyword, WT367, when uploading your card so we can all see your creation. It helps if you link it up back here too. You can view the entire gallery for this challenge HERE.

Need help linking a card? Follow these instructions!

1. Open 2 windows: One window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Got to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
Youre done!

Wonderful challenge, Toni! I must admit...I have some rub-ons, but I've NEVER used them! I'm off to work now, but I'll be back later to give this a try!

Bummer, I don't think I own a single rub-on....never had any luck with them...so I'll have to sit this one out, but I will enjoy seeing what everyone else comes up with.

Thought this would be a fun challenge...although it didn't turn out that way for me.....you can read about it in my description. Not a great way to start the day....but "so it goes" and as the current fad statement, "it is what it is".

FLORIDA THANKS

Here is my "rub-on"... note to self - vinyl doesn't really like sticking to canvas.

If you don't have any rub-ons, you can make your own...

The transparency technique works great: all you need is a transparency sheet, a popsicle stick and an inkjet printer. (You can use the same transparency sheet over and over; just wipe with a damp cloth after each use.)

Type your sentiment in Word. When you're ready to print, click on "Properties" when your printer screen appears. Choose "Reverse" or "Mirror Image" in order to print your sentiment backwards.

Use the plain paper setting (not transparency). Choose "Best Quality" print setting. You need to print on the SHINY side of the transparency. Let the ink dry for about 5 - 10 minutes.

Then carefully place the transparency where you want your sentiment to appear and burnish it with the popsicle stick.

Well, that was a huge fail. I must not have the right kind of transparency....mine is shiny on both sides. Oh well, I think I'll try to make a card with it anyway...

Good for you for giving it a go, Korin - I had no idea that could be done, Melody!!
I find it hard to believe that in the middle of my stuff, I don't have any rub-on's or any transparencies, but I'll look forward to everyone's creations! : )

No rub-ons here, even after digging through drawers. I sold the few I had because I'm no good at getting them to transfer, even after my friend (JanCush on SCS) gave me a special tool by Basic Grey for applying rub-ons. I am a rub-on failure! I will enjoy seeing the creations by everyone else today : )

WOW... Perusing through the gallery made me want to re-think my discord for rub-on's... I'm not sure if I still have any, but maybe this weekend, I'll give it a try.

Thanks for the challenge... it's especially fun when it IS a true challenge

Smile WT367 Good Vacation

Just came back from a nice vacation, so this sentiment worked well here. I wanted to use my new stamps from High Hopes- Ally Rose and Bobby Lee- and added lots of pink and blue. Here's Good Vacation

Thanks for the motivation to dig out my rub-ons (buried under a box of Christmas stamps). I should use these more often.

Thank you for this challenge. I keep forgetting my rub-ons, don't know why because they are very handy. Here is my card.

I have never really achieved proficiency with rub-ons, but I did give it an honest try this week. I'm not sure if the rub-ons were too old, or if my technique was faulty, but they didn't go on smoothly. I got a distressed look, which works well for this flourish, so I am reasonably happy with the card. Everything on it is a rub on, with the exception of the heat embossed sentiment.
