Memento Ink

I'm wondering about some of the Memento Inks other than Cocoa Brown and Black. I'm interested in Expresso Truffle, London Fog, and Gray Flannel. Are these colors strong enough to stand up to being colored with Copics?

I think they all would work just fine. I think it is the chemical makeup of the type of ink that keeps it from running, not the color. I have a lighter brown I use with pastels that I like.

Seems to me I read that Marianne Walker said that you would be disappointed in anything but black or sometimes brown to define lines. You will just have to find out for yourself. Personally, when I have had an image with black borders that weren't there or were too pale, I just had to fill them in; they just didn't look right without that border.

It's all a matter of preference... I will often stamp the black or sepia ink off one time before coloring in my image, because I don't want the dark outline. I'm looking forward to the new paler shades of Memento ink. I like the Sahara Sand for outlines too, and sometimes use the Pear Tart or a similar pale green for florals. GypsyRoseStamper is right - it is the chemical makeup of the ink that makes it stand up to solvent ink.

Your cards are beautiful! What a great idea to stamp off for a lighter outline. Duh!!!! Why didn’t I ever think of that? Thanks for sharing. Now I know!

Love your work - especially the Impression Obsession stamps. I'm not concerned with the Memento ink dissolving, but being overwhelmed [colorwise] with the vibrant Copic markers.

If you use softer shades of ink, do you find that you need to use softer Copic colors?

Not necessarily softer colors, but I tend to work in smaller areas so that I don't lose my lines.

I love my Memento for Copics use and I considered going with Memento as my main stamping ink. But I have read a few complaints about Memento colors. People have said they were not as good as the basic Tuxedo Black and Cocoa Brown.

Any idea what makes the reds, blues, greens and yellows less awesome than the black and brown? Copics aside, how does Memento ink compare to Stamping Up, CTMH, A Muse, Colorbox and other popular brands?

For stamping other than for use with markers, I don't prefer Memento personally... I don't get the same crisp image that I get from Versafine ink. Sometimes the 2nd impression can be a bit blobby.

With the lighter colors, I think it's personal preference, really... I really like the Sahara Sand and the Pear Tart - those are only other colors I have with me right now... also if you're not used to stamping with a colored outline, it might be a little difficult to wrap your head around... like flower petals with a light green outline...?!

I recently ordered a "colored" stamp from Northwoods. When it arrived, it had vast dark areas. This stamp could not be stamped in black and perhaps not even Cocoa Brown - that started me thinking about the other Memento colors.
