Ribbon looks pretty in jars. And chances are that it won't get creased like ribbon wound around a piece of cardboard or looped through a Ribbon Ring tag (which is how I store my ribbon). And I suppose it won't get any more tangled than it would in one of those plastic ribbon organizers with holes in the side.
The down side is that you'll have to pick up a heavy jar each time you want ribbon. And you'll have to dig through it to find what you want.
I usually buy no less than 5 yards at a time of ribbon and seam binding and the thought of tossing it in a jar, as petty as it may look it out for me...I wrap each piece on cut of foam board and store them in snap boxes from OTC...
