I'm sure there will be lots of places offering these on pre-order. He just introduced them this morning!
I'm sure you're right. I was just sharing two I do business with often (and happily). Inspiration Emporium folks are personal friends with Tim. They show up in pictures on his blog.
the price point is NOT going to allow me to buy many, at least until they go on sale....$3.49 each....now....at $2.50 or less...maybe.

I have to agree... it's $129 for the full set. No thanks, I'll stick with what I have for now! It will be interesting to see how he uses them though...

Am hopeful that they will be on sale somewhere....and yes, watching him use them is going to be fun : )

I like the Distress ink pads for water-coloring, but water based markers and I don't get along well. I will stick to my Copics. They work for me
Even water-based markers are getting very expensive. A family of 4 can eat for an entire week for the price of one set of Distress markers.
I'm with Barbara Jay. I've done some coloring with the Distress ink pads - trickier than coloring with Copics. And - I have almost all of the Copics now, so I see absolutely no need for the Distress markers.
I do like water-based markers, but I will probably wait for a really good sale. Marco's Paper is offering a pre-order for them with free shipping I believe, but I have already ordered the new Copics.

Color me clueless... but how do they work? What makes them "distress"?
Tim Holtz works for Ranger and does destressed and grunge work, so he calls the inks by Ranger Distressed inks.
They are actually very nice inks. If you add water to them to use them to water color the colors do not separate as they do with some other inks. For example Blue and Yellow make green. With some inks if you add water the blue and yellow separate and become very distinct.
If you want to see how people use them to water color just Google Water coloring with Distressed inks
They also stay wet a little longer for blending when you sponge edges or want to add embossing powder .

wonder if they will only be available in the package? i might like to try a few colors first. check them out. then add to my collection. i know my budget would like a few at a time.

Interesting there is nothing on the press release about the markers being refillable:
Thank you for the answer. I have been looking too.
I am like camcas2 markers, pencils & pens are my weakness. I am actually better at adding ink from a marker to a stamp than the traditional inkpad to stamp. I am not really a distress ink stamp pad fan. I do love them, don't get me wrong. The way I do art at the moment it's not my style. I could see the markers being my style. I hope our big box craft stores get them in soon so I can see them in person and how to hack them to be refillable.
Loved the video, and am still hopeful I can find them on sale later this year, really want to try them!

Marco's Paper has pre-order with free shipping at $92 for the set or $2.79 each. Keep in mind that if you pre-order other items ( Ranger's shipping availability is spread over several months.) you might have to wait for the last item to be available before the total order gets shipped to you.
Since the Ranger website makes no mention in its product description of refilling the markers, I guess they are not.:(
I watched the video for these markers on a different thread and I want them. I know that my budget will take a major hit but they look like the kind of marker that I could really enjoy using and they should be able to replace several of the existing markers and pencils that I already have which will clear up some much needed space.
I do hope Michael's gets the big set in. I was thinking they would probably go with smaller sets. Make more money off of us. I don't blame them though. It's good marketing strategy. I will still probably buy from Michael's so I can build my collection slowly and more easier for my crafting budget.
I am hoping beyond hope they eventually make their way to Michael's or JoAnn's where I can use a 40% (or even 50%!) coupon for the set.
Just found a pre-order on ebay, the set of 37 markers for 85, which puts the markers at about 2.30 each...and no shipping......will need to do some creative things with budget .....

Be careful with getting them on eBay... I checked the feedback and this seller has no previous crafting items listed. These markers are going to be in high demand and I am wondering how someone not affiliated with crafting is getting the markers and offering them for such a low price. Just my 2 cents.

I cannot wait to buy these -- I'm concerned there will be such a rush for them that even though I considered ordering individual colors, I may just go for it and get the set.
Ellen Hutson LLC will carry them and with their Frequent Buyer program there's a discount code, plus they ship wicked fast.

Thanks, I did not order, yet anyway, others have them for sale as well, but people need to bid for them. The price of the set is much better than buying them one by one, so will keep searching for the best price on the set : ) and saving my pennies : )

I really liked the way he applied several colors directly on a stamp. The graduated colors looked great in the stamped image. However, I don't want to buy them just for that technique.
So I put a drop of 3 colors of Distress reinkers on a craft sheet. Used a damp flat brush to apply each color on a section of the stamp , Huffed on it and it worked great !!
OK call me cheap, but I won't spend that much money on anything that I won't use a lot . Water based markers and I don't get on well to color images.
I have Copics to color images and they work well for me

I'm sure your technique is beautiful. But the markers are unique in other ways. Everyone has favorite tools - I can't wait to get my DMs!
I didn't think I'd need (want!) more markers but after watching the video, they are way cool! Marco's is tempting me but I'd love to see a better preorder sale before deciding...
eta: Thanks for the info, Dorism, I'll have to check it out!
