Cool Color Palettes So Excited, I Gotta Share!!

I love collecting things for colors, and I found the coolest website. Design Seeds: For All Who Love Color

She has beautiful color palettes. If you're on Pinterest that makes it even better, because you can pin them. Even if you aren't, you have to check this out, I promise you will love it.

Oh my! What a WONDERFUL way to introduce color palettes to a non-art person like me!

I hate to admit it, but I don't craft because I'm good at it. I'm not! I craft because I have this weird need to create. This visual photo/color swatch thing she put together really helps someone like me.

Thank you so much for sharing!!

I also adore this site. I have a special folder in hotmail just for those daily postings. I print them out in color and do my own challenges with cards.

Warning!! I think this is going to be a dumb question!

How do you use this site? Do you try to find paper in matching colors? Do you try to color things using the same shades of colors? Please help me to understand what you do with this beautiful site. TIA

I usually use this site just to jumpstart my creative spirit and see something pretty! Sometimes I color a palette (or part of one) when I make a card. Sometimes it just reminds me about a fresh color I need to use. For example, I rarely use certain colors, but when I see them paired in a fresh way it makes me want to try it!

I can tell you how I will use it. I'll find a palette I like, and select pieces of cs in my stash that are as close to the colors in the palette as possible. I'll also make my choices of colored pencils, inks or paint sthat I use on the same card.... and anything else I put on it, like ribbon, or even decorative paper.

Does that help?

Inkin One, I don't use ribbon or dec. paper much either, but I do make my own with inks or dyes or handmade papers.
I don't think we don't use dp because we don't know how or are afraid of it. I think it's because of our style......kind of arty, and we really take the challenge in a different direction than on paper. Does that make sense???

That is so NOT a dumb question!

The palettes show colors that work nicely together. But I think we might also want to look at the photos to get an idea of how much of each shade was used.

For instance, a project using a lot of black, a moderate amount of yellow and a tiny bit of green and a splotch of red would look different from a project that uses a lot of yellow, a moderate amount of red, and a tiny bit of green and a splotch of black.

At least that's probably what I'll do when looking through the photos and palettes.

The photographs alone would make me want to visit the site, but the color palettes will make this a viable tool in addition to a visual treat. Sooooo glad you shared.

Here's another site worth visiting. Colourlovers.com You can make your own color palettes, patterns, etc. You check out what others have done with color palettes and patterns. There is a tutorial to help you learn how to use the site. It can be intimidating, but well worth the trouble! I'm definitely checking out the one mentioned in this thread.

Thanks for the inspiration! I usually pick a dp and take my layer colors from it. This will get me doing more patterns of color, get me out of a rut so to speak!
