TLC364 ~ Wrinkle Free Distress ~ (2/13/12)
Today we are going to "paint" our backgrounds with Distress Inks.
(FAQ: Q: I don't have any Distress Inks. Can I use other inks? A: Sure. Distress Inks "bead up" better than other inks when sprayed and you will get a slightly different looking outcome, but use whatever you have!)
You will need:
1. Craft Sheet
(FAQ: Q: I don't have a Craft Sheet. Is there something else I can use?
A: YES! A page protector, wax paper, foil, plastic placemat, glass cutting board - anything that isn't porous should work fine. Saran Wrap is not the best choice, however, because of its stickiness)
2. Mini Mister or small spray bottle
3. Two to four different colors of inks
4. Heat gun/tool
5. tag, cardstock, or watercolor paper
INSTRUCTIONS:
There is a fabulous tutorial in the SCS Resources section by Sherry Cheever, called Wrinkle Free Distress HERE.
Sherry gives you great pictures and instructions on how to do this technique using a shipping tag and Distress Inks. And her final project is DA BOMB!
My sample is made slightly differently, as I used watercolor paper, only two inks, and I turned my paper a bit when pressed into the ink for a blended look.
MY SAMPLE - DANDELION PUFFS
Do what moves you! We will have a lot of different supplies used, and our backgrounds will have our own special touch!
One word of advice: When you pick up your wet tag, cardstock, or paper, DON'T JUDGE your work just yet! I always think it's ugly at this point, but once you dry it and stamp on it, you will LOVE IT!
Let us know in your description or list of supplies what kind of ink you used so we can see the differences in the technique using different supplies!
Remember when uploading to use keyword TLC364 (no spaces).
You can view the entire TLC364 gallery here.
Have fun!

Judy, what a fun and fantastic technique! I had never seen this before, but found it a lot of fun. Bet there are going to be some extraordinary cards in the gallery today. Thanks for introducing me to this technique...I'll be using it again.

Oh what a fun challenge Judy!
I just had to play along! I did have to do some additional spritzing after the transfer because of the texture of the canvas and ussed lots of water and pearl mist but I think it turned out pretty cool...if I say so myself!
I hope you will all come check out my "To Live a Creative Life" mixed media canvas.
Hugs,
True

Loved this technique so much, Judy, I decided to do another card. I did use OLD PTI inks...they worked, but not as well as the Tim Holtz. Thanks again.

TLC364 Bearable
Thanks for the super technique challenge! I used grey paper with red, green and orange diluted ink- on waxed paper- for Bearable. I used SU's Razzle Dazzle, Bear Necessities, and Country Greetings for my images, and wish you all a Happy Monday!

I'm so happy to have learned this technique - it's perfect to use with a collage stamp! I've posted two versions:

I made two cards for this challenge. I was surprised at how easy the technique turned out to be. I'll definitely use it again.
