IC14 - Abstract Art (Inspiration Challenge)
Inspiration Challenge #14 (Don't forget to add IC14 to your keywords please!)
Today's inspiration comes from a piece of abstract art (Arte Forum II by Carol Robinson). I loved the colors and layout of the piece. For my card, I basically copied the art piece, but you can just as easily use a small part of the piece for your inspiration. Just let your imagination take you.
Feel free to translate the inspiration item into a card, a scrapbook page, or another project. Be inspired by the colors, layout, theme, or anything else -- this is up to your own interpretation!
Great Challenge, Karen. And I like the fact that you went to Saturday. I think most of us challenge junkies tend to check for the challenges early in the morning. And I know that I would forget to check for this one because by then I was busy with other things. Thanks for sticking with this challenge even though there hasn't been a lot of response. I'm planning to do those that I've missed... just been busy.
Karen, although I have never taken part in your inspiration challenges, I find them to be the most artistically interesting. I have always enjoyed looking at the wonderful interpretations of those who have made creations for your challenges. I love today's challenge and promise to give it a try. Thanks for your wonderfully creative ideas!
After I posted I went back and read the other posts. I'm another stamper who appreciates Saturday challenges, as I work all week and this is my time to play. I'm sure enjoying the Inspiration Challenges as I have all day to be creative.
Yippee, I got to play! It's amazing how some weeks you are immediately inspired by looking at the original piece! For this one, the brown section grabbed me so I started with that, but after reading Karen's description on her card, I decided to "drag" some of the red color in & tried "Faux Suede" for the 1st time too; Still hoping to do some more of these, but this one came really easily!
I'll give this a try this weekend! Post on Monday. Been doing most of the other challenges lately. Saturday is a perfect day to add another! And the inspiration is really neat! Can't wait to get started.

Gladd-ly, your card is still pending (and I'm east coast and heading to bed), but I will check it tomorrow. I can't to check them out!
To All -- don't feel like you can only play if you copy the original, that isn't the only way to be inspired -- try different colors or a different layout...have fun and see where it takes you! Woo-hoo, I am loving all the new players!
This may take me a day or two to come up with something since I'm not much of an art lover.;) Karen I've really enjoyed these. Definitely makes me think outside the box a bit.
Karen, thank you for helping me out of my slump! I've been a little burnt out lately, but your inspiration helped me get my act together. The art is kinda neat and I was able to use colors and sets that I wouldn't normally put together. Here's my link (snuck it in before the midnight deadline... pending as 10:30 ET) Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
Mine will have to wait until Monday for uploading, I can't get that done in a minute and it's almost midnight...no it is midnight! So it'll be here then!

Wozers, so many great cards and more to come...I can't wait! I'm so glad you are enjoying the challenge, it really is fun to put together...and it won't take long for you to see everything as a source of inspiration!
I love how you did this card, it is so perfect for someone who has the talent
to play a piano or love that music, you just would have to look very hard to find a card for someone who would have those interest, thanks for sharing
and meeting the challenge Carolyn in MN

Ok, I lied; it didn't take one or two days, I had it done in less than 45min last night but had already turned off the computer. I did discover something really cool in my stamping stash............my EE beads that I just had to have when they came out. Hadn't even broken the seal on the package yet. Geez. I'm attaching here for now, and will upload on Monday.
I was trying so hard not to copy exactly that my card ended up totally different from the inspiration piece. It did inspire me though. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Laura I'm so glad you did different colors. I really wanted to do one this weekend, but never got the time. I love to show that you can be inspired without the final product looking like the original!
I used the same colors and layout as the inspiration card and struggled with the rest.... this doesn't come easy for me, but it is alot fun. Thank you for this challenge... it always good to stretch ourselves!!

Eileen, You'll find that some pieces are easier to be inspired by than others, so maybe a different object will get you juices flowing easier next time! With that said, your card is great; I'm glad you chose to share it with us!
Thanks for the challenge, I agree with Eileen, this "don't come easy" for me either, but was fun. That's what's nice about abstract art--it's all in the eye of the beholder!!
Here's my attempt--be gentle, I'm new at this (lol). Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Karen, I totally cased this photo and you know from past challenges I don't normally do that. But I have to say it was fun coming up with the techniques and images to pull this off. Inspiration is in the eye of creator and matching images inspired me this week. I had the same type of leaf (Aspen I believe) which I rarely use so you got that little block out the box!
Thanks again for a great challenge and I'm really glad to see more players and know their minds are at work!
Had to edit here, I thought you might like to see my card! Here it is
I've never noticed this challenge before. I thought the Saturday challenge was scrapbooking of somekind. I don't do any scrapbooking so never pay any attention to it. I am always sad that there aren't challenges on Saturday and now I see that I have been missing this. Have you always had this on Saturday? I must be brain dead. I will look forward to playing on this one during the week. I'm not much for modern or abstract art and know this will make me stretch. Can't wait.

Kittie, the scrapbooking challenges were on Saturday, but, last week I think, they moved to Friday. I had been posting Friday afternoons, but prefer the Saturday morning time. Even if you can't play right away, you can always come back to it another time -- these challenges are just to have fun and get you stamping!
I just discovered this today and since we had a snow day, I got to play. Unfortunately I don't have a scanner so I can't share. It did help me to make a beautiful (I thought, anyway) sympathy card. It's been fun to see how everyone interprets the challenge.
