Default What happened to Radiant Pearls paints?

LuminArte is or WAS the manufactuer of Radiant Pearls but looking on their website, there are no RP's.
Home page

Did Twinkling H2o's replace them?

I think radiant pearls were discontinued several years ago.

I have not seen them around in a very long time. I had some that I recently had to get rid of because they were drying out in the jars.

Yes, they stopped making them. I think it may have been over 10 years ago, around the time Twinkling H2O's came out. I still have a rather large collection and when they start to dry, I add a couple drops of distilled water. I haven't checked recently, but they went pro a fairly price on e-bay a few years ago.

You know what? I've had mine for gosh prob. 12 years and none of them have dried out. I won a contest and got 50 jars as the prize. My DH was so tickled he made trays for me out of wood. He drilled shallow wells in the wood trays just the right size for the jars to fit in. He made them to fit in my desk drawer.

Have you used the Twinkling H20's? What are they like?

The original Radiant Pearls were made by a company called Angel Wings. Angel Wings was bought out by Luminart and they decided that it was too expensive to make Radiant Pearls and it competed with their new product of Twinkling H2O's. I bought some from SU many years ago (10???) and then bought a couple of lots on e-bay. None of mine have dried out at all and I still love the fact that they blend and give such a beautiful end product. I don't even conside H2O's...too harsh, not blendable, dry too fast to allow you to work with the colors and not at all like water colors where you can go back and wet them and blend for a long time. Wish someone would start making Radiant Pearls again!!!

Wow, what a nice hubby! Out of curiosity, I checked e-bay and there is a lot of 50 selling for $195 and several other listings of a single jar for $12.97.

I agree InkeePhingers, there isn't any comparision between Radiant Pearls and the H2O's, though I do use my H2O's occasionally. They just don't have the same finishe look as the Radiant Pearls. I'll have to watch those auctions. I have about 90 jars, with some duplicates. At $12.97 a jar, I might consider selling my dupes.

I just inherited some radiant pearls from a friend's Mom who never used them. How do you use them? Do I just paint with them like watercolor? Is there anything I can mix them with? Thanks for any suggestions.

You don't have to mix them with water or anything, just paint. You can also emboss them, or stipple a background with them and it is gorgeous. I have a tutorial I made for a class I taught, I'll find it for you.

i have never seen the radiant pearls but i just took a class from luminarte at CHA and i am wondering if the new silks are similar? OR perhaps you can mix some up using the primary elements - i ADORE the primary elements...i couldn't find the tutorial - i guess cuz the post is old - maybe you can put a link directly to it?

Here you go Marti

Let me know if they are similar. I also have some Lumiere paints (10 years old or so) wonder if they are anything like what you used?

oh those are such gorgeous projects! i think lumiere paints are probably very similar. the silks are maybe more transparent. now i also think that you could achieve the same thing by mixing up your paint using the primary elements powdered pigments.

Another vote for Lindy's Stamp Gang! I've had a couple of their sprays (the ones with the walnut ink with irridescense) and they still work really well. And it's been five or six years.
