This week, I needed to make a card for a student who is moving out-of-state. It's hard enough for me to make birthday cards for teen boys, but cards for other occasions is even harder. All I knew was that I wanted it to be cheerful but not obviously girly ;-) The very same day that I needed to make this card, I received a pm from Deloris (deeth1) about a new challenge idea. Keiki Cards is a charity she makes cards for and they are really in need of non-birthday cards for teen boys... could we make it a challenge? Amazing coincidence! It was meant to be.
This week's challenge is to make a non-birthday card for a teen boy. It is NOT a requirement for you to donate your work to Keiki Cards, but if you would like to, please read the information on their web site for card guidelines. It's a great charity that sends cards to children with life-threatening illnesses. They don't accept religious or Get Well cards. The site will also explain where and how to send the cards to them. Thanks in advance to all who participate in this charity challenge
Update: Annette from Keiki Cards has started receiving our challenge cards and would like to say "thank you". SCSers are a great bunch of people with giving hearts.
If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us stamping!
Please remember to put LSC54 in the keyword box when you upload. Some people go right to the gallery and search with the keyword to see our cards.
If you need help with uploading your card to the gallery or posting a link, click here! Forums at Splitcoaststampers
Happy stamping,
Jen

Reason: Update
Here is my first attempt at this challenge. I'm not sure it works for every teen boy, but my special ed student loved it. So, I'm happy I plan to make more cards to donate to Keiki cards this weekend. I can't wait to see what you all come up with!
Thank you Jen from the Keiki Birthday lady! Yes teen boys are the hardest need to fill, the organization is always in need of these cards. What a great challenge and even better if you can send the card to Keiki - or two or three.
Friday is a busy day for me but I'll be making some teen boy cards and I know where they will be going.
Hey even Easter teen cards would be good!
Ha! I'm heading to bed (not stalking, not me!) & thought I would just take a peek & here you are with it posted already! Is this to keep the stalkers from razzing you in the morning? I'm sure this will be a tough one for most of us, because we don't 'think' like guys. I'll have to see what I can come up with. But now I'm heading for dreamland.

Thanks for posting the teen boy challenge! Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! I know Annette at Keiki Cards will really appreciate receiving any challenge cards that you can send her.
Here's a suggestion if you don't have any "guy" stamps, try using a large "thinking of you stamp" for the main image. The background could be done with the canvas or jeans background stamp and done with masculine colors.
Here is my card, used Loads of Love and omitted the birthday in the sentiment. Used up soem Basic Grey paper so it looks warm and worn IRL, if I could only get my scanner to agree!!
Great idea for the challenge, will have to look into Keiki cards.
This is definitely a challenge. I have two teenage sons; a 15 1/2 year old and 13 year old and it's very difficult to come up with something they don't feel is girlish or lame! Most teenage boys have a bizarre sense of humor. My guys love to paintball so for my 13 year old's birthday I went on the internet to find a cartoon about paintballing. I found one that resembled an accident he had the first time he used his new gun. He was warned about air pressure and somehow just didn't take heed. Needless to say there was an accident with his hose similar to the one here and all the guys got a big chuckle out of it. This card was so appropriate.
Great Challenge!!!! I am at work right now (I know shame on me for being on the site) so this will have to wait until later. I've already written down a couple of ideas and will do my best to make some cards over the weekend. These definitely will be donated. Vicki G. or anybody else in Kingston, Ontario....if you're reading this, let me know if you're doing this challenge and want to send a package together.

Wonderful challenge..and a great cause. I have 2 teen boys in my life, and making cards for them is SO hard..but I had one in mind when I made these, and he wears black 99% of the time, so I started with black..but it might not be appropriate for donation..what do ya think??
I'm going to see what else I can come up, would love to send a selection to Keiki..but don't have many masculine stamps.
Here's four cards I made this week to send to Keiki Cards. I needed to use up some scraps so I combined both challenges. Sorry the picture is so dark. It's rainy and gloomy here in Ohio.
Hopefully will have time to play....kinda funny, I always look at the stamp sets and say "That's too girly" (I have two boys....thankfully, still much younger than teenagers!!) Will try to come up with something...this sounds like a great cause!
Location: Living in Kansas, but my heart is at OSU with my DS!

Ok my 16 year old son is home starting spring break and he has challenged me to do something with football. It is hard to live up to his standards, he is my biggest critic. Be back later with a card.
Is there a reason I can't view JulieHRR card? Was the link from the paid part of the site? All my posting rules are ok, so don't know why else I can't see it...waaahhhhh!
Great idea for a challenge Jen and Deloris. I am working on a batch for Keiki cards after finding out about it from Rox. Will work today on the teenage boy's cards, I had done a bunch for younger kids earlier this week.

Here's the card I made for my son for Valentine's Day. This is a great masculine color combo from the wheel. I CASEd the layout from a card on this site that was posted around the same time. Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Her card is listed under Dirty Dozen Designs. Guess that must be why -- guess you just better pay up, girl!
Melody~ ok, ok, ok! LOL It's on my list of "stuff for me", but I just got the coffee mug and the hoodie so it will have to wait...sigh.
Now to my card, this was fun since I don't have a boy (just my one DD) I don't have too many guy stamps. But I do have nephews so I can use these. Did it in the CC52c, just working may way through those wicked colors!
I figured that boys don't like much with ribbon or fancy embellishments, so I decided simple was best. I think Smile works for just about every age group. Here's may card (pending as of 12:45 CT)
I got one done this morning before the ladies came to stamp and its arppoved now to Here it is
We are currently making this one and what a riot I'm having teaching newbies, why did they pick to do this one with all the detail. I did try to warn them! Mine will go to Keiki. Here's the card
Teen boys!! Now this really is a limited supply. Better dig through my stamps and see what I can come up with. Hmmm, maybe I'll have my 13 y/o DS go through them instead.;)
I just saw this. Here's one from my gallery. Even though it's a bday card, you could always take off the sentiment. I'm actually working on another right now for my 14 yo cousin...great coincidence...I'll upload when I'm done.
wooohoooo...I did get a chance to play! combined several others with this one..tall card and watercolor. my 14yr old loves to hunt, so figured the deer would work for teen boys;)
