spellbinders in the big shot PRO

i find lots of info on the big shot , not so much on the pro. i have been playing this afternoon and i have figured out the cutting, but am having trouble with the embossing. i found a video online with some german guy and he put the dies, blade side up and then used the crease pad. guess what? that cuts the crease pad. i do not think that is right. one tutorial suggested two embossing pads and i couldnt get the right combo of plates.

also sometimes in both my cuttlebug and pro the embossing pad scooches.

it seems like somebody must have all the formulas. every time i use it i am amazed that i get anything usuable. i just dont feel sure of myself.

any suggestions or links to great site or tutorials would be appreciated.

i thought hmm the big shot and the big shot pro cant be that different, but when they start talking about tabs and such, i realized i had no idea and couldnt just use the same sandwiches.

Hi, I haven't used my Pro yet precisely for the reason that I can't find any great videos/ tutorials. I know there is a LSS nearby that has one, and I suppose I should go and ask if they can help me out or if I can pay for a tutorial. Good luck on your journey. Perhaps we can pm each other if we find any good sources for using our Pros.

When i want to emboss my Spellbinders, this is the sandwich i use.

1 cutting pad
2 tan pads
paper
spellbinder die
3 solo adapters (platform/shim/thin die adapter)
adapter pad

Its basically from the "top going down" in the tray, if that makes sense! HTH!

ok, this sounds stupid, i know, but do i put the spellbinder dies with the "blades" going into the tan pads or facing away from the tan pads?

Hi Lori!

You need to put the die blade side up, going into the tan pads. There is never a stupid question!

I was frustrated with the lack of videos/information on the BSP too, there really isn't a whole lot on the BSP. At least not that I have seen. When I got mine, I had to really sit and figure out sandwiches for all kinds of different dies/folders/etc. If you have any other questions, you can pm me as well. HTH!

I know I need a shim of cardstock folded in thirds to get the embossing right on my regular Big Shot. I wonder if it's the same for the Pro?

The BSP Wafer Thin Die Adapter Set will make using all brands of thin dies much easier. To emboss the Spellbinders, you will need the Spellbinders soft tan mat or the Sizzix Texturz silicon mat. A piece of plumbers gasket (rubbery stuff) works well, too.
