Question This Probably Sounds Dumb but What is Digi Stamping?

Would someone please explain to me exactly what digi stamping is, what do you use it for and HOW do you use it, etc.?

Thanks!

It doesn't sound dumb at all. You have to learn somewhere. Digi stamping is using digital images instead of a traditional stamp. there are a lot of sources for digital images like digital colouring pages, high resolution clip art, and of course, artists that create the images specifically to be used as a stamp. You can print them out from any program that will import a graphic image. Most digi stamps are in jpeg format, but quite a few also come in png. The png format is nice because it will allow you to have a transparent background. Another couple really nice things about digital stamps is that you can resize them and flip them. Once they are printed out, you can use them just as you would any traditionally stamped image. There is a lot of information in Digital Stamping threads. There's also tons of information on the websites/blogs of the online stores where you can buy digital stamps. You'll find that there are quite a few who don't accept digital stamping as "true" stamping. I'm not one of them. I love my digital stamps. I was into digital crafting before I started paper crafting, so I find them very easy to use.

Just poke around in these threads and I'm sure you'll find all the information you'll need to get you started. There is a thread that lists a lot of sources for digital stamps. One of my favourites is Free Digital Stamps The put up links to a lot of free images. Another source I use alot I mentioned earlier is free downloadable colouring pages. There are some really nice sites - all you have to do is google free colouring pages.

Hope that helps a little. I could go on for hours, but I have to start getting ready to shut the computer down and get things organized for work tomorrow. Stupid work. Always interrupting my fun.

They are also nice because they will never end up crooked on the paper, don't smudged.
Copic markers may smudge the image. Biggest for me is the resizing factor. Here is a card example:

ordinarily, you would need three different size stamps for this flower, with digital printing you can resize to make it a layered flower like this. It isn't that hard to learn; I use the paint program to resize my images; I didn't have word when I started, but; most gals use that. If you have the paint program on your computer; I can give you the steps for easy resizing. All it takes is a little learning, and much saving instead of costly rubber stamps. I'm retired so that is important

You would only need to cut down the sheet if you're running a full sheet of cardstock through the printer. I learned a little trick to using up my smaller pieces of cardstock in my printer. I take a piece of printer paper (usually the back side of something I've printed and no longer need - I grab the waste/recycle from work sometimes) and print my image in draft so I don't waste ink. Then I place the good piece of cardstock cut a little bit bigger than the size I want to use and hold it and the print out up to the light. You will be able to see the outline of the cardstock through the printer paper, and so I centre the image on over the cardstock and tape the cardstock to the printer sheet and then run it through the printer again and it prints perfectly on my piece of cardstock. Now this may not work if you only have a front feeding printer since it will have to go around the rollers and bend. The little piece of paper may pop off and cause a printer jam, but my printer has a back loading slot so the papers not bend a whole lot. Its a good way to use up cardstock scraps for digis and not waste a lot of cardstock on printing.

I know I am a little late to this discussion, but I've always wanted to know what digi stamping was and if it was worth trying. thank you for all the info.
