Default need help!

my son is wanting a pen tablet (drawing tablet that you plug into your computer) and I was wondering if this is what you digi designers use when you design your digi images. If so, which is the best kind to have? He isn't wanting one that is slow and the ones we have seen online range from cheap to expensive and we don't know which one to get or anything about them.

What would he be using it for? If he's a serious artist, then I would say to go more high end. I have a cheapy Wacom Bamboo tablet (about $69) and its ok, but I'd like to get a better one. Depending on what he wants to use it for will depend on the price point and what features it will have.

he is wanting it to draw (he makes movies), and I am hoping I can get him to create some digi images for me. He just doesn't want it to be too slow.

Good for him! I think that the speed would be more dependant on the computer's processing power and the graphics program rendering algorithm rather than the tablet itself. The one I have keeps up to my scribbles when I use it. You probably will want one that has more levels of sensitivity so that the pen has more functionality with direction, line thickness, etc. If you check out the Wacom website, they offer a wide variety of tablets for different environments/situations. I'm sure you will find one that would be suitable for what he intends to use it.

thank you so much for your help. I think we will have a better idea of what to look for now. He has done some research and it is hard to tell what everything does and sounds like so many do the same thing with a huge price range.
