I have been thinking about doing this for some time now to challenge me and you to get your pages and books completed by the end of the year.
So each day for the month of December, I will post a challenge. It may be a review of old challenges, or ones I make up based on my inspiration.
Regardless I hope that you will have fun and find inspiration to get your pages done.
I will post the first challenge tomorrow Dec 1, 2011
And I will just post each challenge in this thread
We can use the coding DDSBCXX (December Daily Scrapbook Challenge 01-31) for each one.
Anyone who has a great idea in mind for a challenge send it my way, and I am going to try and incorporate the weekly challenges we have as much as possible as well).
Oh yea let's do this VSBN style and only allow 2 hours to get your pages done, pages can be traditional or digi or hybrid. And you don't have to complete every challenge, just pick and choose whenever inspiration strikes.
Most of all have fun and enjoy!!
(ps. if I am not allowed to do this, let me know, but hopefully I am, been thinking about this for a while now)

This is so cool! I've been meaning to make some pages just for fun (as are they all, since I don't even take much pics or even less develop them). I hope I can make some new ones for my stash with these challenges. Will be looking forward to them! Thanks for the motivation
Thanks all, I have all these ideas in my head, got a few of them done already, which also means pages done for me, finally!!! With more ideas coming about, mainly just based on actual things happening as inspiration for the most part.
Will be posting the first one in the morning, hopefully right after I get up.

Its the FIRSTday of December, so what better way to start a scrapping month of challenges by scraping about First times.
My SAMPLE is Maddys First ever school picture, I hadnt had a chance to scrap this picture yet, but its time to get it done!!
What are some of your First ? Heres a list to get you started:
First Haircut? (hmm I better get this one done too, Maci just had hers a couple of days ago)
First day of work, school, etc?
First time you held your newborn or grandchild?
 First time in a play?
 First date
First time you visited a place, vacation, i.e. Disney World, Mall Of America, Smithsonian?
Oh yea, just 1 restriction use only 1 Picture!
I figured I would make it easy on this first challenge of December for you.
Make it Digi or Traditional, any size to suit your need; its up to you as long as you only use 1 picture!
Please use DDSBC01 when uploading your pictures to the gallery
Most of all Enjoy yourself and Happy Scrapping this holiday season

Dec 2: I can name that tune in 2 pictures or less
Because remember, a picture is worth a thousand words
It’s time to scrap an event or time that reminds you of a Holiday Song, it doesn’t have to be your favorite one or even one you like, just one you took inspiration from.
I came up with this idea after listening to “I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” earlier this week, it reminded me of one Christmas where Chris didn’t get exactly what he wanted. As a grown man he actually threw a tantrum, I couldn’t believe it, but I still married him anyway! Don’t tell him I shared this story with you.
Here’s the verse that brought up that memory
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles or rhinoceroseses
I only like hippopotamuseses
And hippopotamuses like me too!
So time to scrap, use DDSBC02 as your keyword in the gallery. And use only 1 or 2 pictures to tell your story based on a holiday song.

Argh, I haven't done anything at all! Need to catch up!
My cricut and I need to have a sit down and we need to work on the first challenge. I had some ideas, I just hadn't executed them. As for the second challenge, I'll have to think about it a bit more. I barely know holiday songs.
I have the 3rd challenge typed up, but won't be able to upload to later, my parents arrived yesterday and sometimes my little ones aren't as cooperative, so I haven't had a chance to finesse it but I will get it up at some point today, and would like to get my sample done for it too
At least you will have a little more time to work on the 1st two

Looking forward to what you have cooked up. I have Dec 1st done and hope to get yesterdays done later ( I have a plan for it.) I'm hoping to upload my digi pages now that Wendy's given me some advice on resolution for PSE!

That is a break for me to have to wait until this evening for 3 and 4, I will have time to start on the second challenge and get the first one posted (as soon as I finish the journaling).
I will pull the pictures and paper then think about the design while I am wrapping presents while watching Super 8.

Wow, I'm impressed you and DH shopped for 12 hours! MY DH can't stand shopping for more than 2 hrs. at a clip! Congrats on getting your shopping almost finished. I've barely started!
Whee! I've completed the page for the first day challenge! Will upload tomorrow.
I'm not sure I'll do day two. I'll have to check out lyrics.
I'm looking forward to the other challenges!
We are stuck in the middle of our families, My roots are on the East Coast, Hubbies on the West Coast, so we live right in the middle in Chicago (at least for the time being).
So your layout will be 3 x3 (9 pictures and/or elements total), it can be done visually like some of the scrap layouts I posted below
So my challenge to you is to scrap a page with 3 pictures with one part of your family on one side, you individually (or with a group) in the middle picture, and another part of your family in the third one. These will be the Xs that go in a row. Or you can use 2 groups of friends, or use your mom vs. dad's side. Just 2 groups of people that have 1 thing in common - YOU!
For example, my page will feature my side of the family on the right, the 4 of us, hubby myself and my kids, in the middle, and hubbys side of the family on the left. You can be in any or all of the pictures, but you must be in the Center One the middle one.
You can add more pictures to the page, or use the other blocks (the os) as elements, journaling, etc, however, it works best for you
Use DDSBC03 as your keyword in the gallery
Heres my sample (coming soon)
Here are a few good sketches, mostly courtesy of Sallys past sketch challenges, to get you started

Scrap a time when you (or your kids, parents, etc) eagerly awaited someone coming to visit.
It could be family; it could be Santa, a best friend, just scrap that visit.
For me, we have known for a couple of weeks that my parents were coming to town this past weekend, its been driving Maddy crazy trying to figure out Time and just how long it takes for a week to pass. My mom works in retail, so getting any time off during the holiday season is tough, but she managed to finagle a 3 day weekend and they have now arrived. Maci figured it out pretty quickly what all the hoopla was about when she saw them.

Dec 5: On the 5th Day of Christmas 5 Golden Rings
Ok I know technically this is not the 5th day of Christmas, but just go with me on this
Your challenge is to use 5 Rings or Circles, they can be any color, they can be gold.
Just make sure to use 5 circles somewhere as part of your layout, or round embellishments, and a some gold on your page.
And ONLY use 5 Round Things, no more no less, such as:
5 buttons
2 round pictures and 3 DSP circles,
Any combination of 5 circular items on your page.

Make sure the best presents come from you ;) that way it'll be easier on them when they find out the sad truth. They won't mind as much if all this time the parents gave the best presents. That's my reasoning, at least
my theory so far is anything complicated to get out of box/set up comes from santa, so we can do it the night before and have set up, and no one is aggravated the next morning opening gifts etc.

Got my two Dec 1 pages posted thanks to Wendy's PSE help! I did two identical layouts for my boys. They will each have separate books, so there's no reason they can't be the same.
Might have to be an all digi month... I need to figure out the balance and see if/when I have time to get them in. I have lots of paper waiting to be "unhoarded" though

Scrap a page with some of the holiday decorations you have seen, or put up yourself or made. They dont have to be Christmas, in fact I think it would be more fun to scrap some old pictures of other Holidays, Easter, 4th of July. But if you dont have any go with the current holiday season.

In memory of Pearl Harbor Day, use lots of pearls on your page.
Or Pearl Ex, or a technique using or making a pearl effect.
Regardless of the way you use pearls on your page, use lots of them!

Maddy is building gingerbread houses today at school.
So I want you to scrap something you have built.
We also participate in Home Depot Building days 1 or 2 times a month for kids.
So think of either something you have built like a house, a project, legos, etc.

Sorry for the delay in posting, I had a another nerve block treatment done yesterday morning, which got scheduled on Monday, so I was very anxious most of the day Monday, and my treatment was at 10am yesterday, so we left the house at 8:30 and didn't get home until 6pm. It's pretty traumatic, I am definitely sore in my neck, that's where the injection goes. Plus he had to use extra numbing, so my entire arm was dead yesterday, it was a terrible feeling, being high on drugs and not being able to function.
Fortunately I should only need 1 more of these, which we are going to schedule for next week, so I am already panicky thinking about it, but in the long run hopefully I will be back to normal after the holidays, bearing not tears of tendons or ligaments or broken bones in my wrist or arm.
Ok enough of my sob story, back to scrapping

Thanks so much for the new challenges now I'll be more motivated to catch up on the ones I'm behind on. I decided to skip the holiday song one but will definitely play along with all the other ones! I can't wait to make a beautiful/very girly page with the pearl challenge. I'll use perfect pearls!
I hope you're back to feeling well soon. Those nerve block things are so horrible :S I had one scheduled and wimped out because everyone said they were so traumatic and uncomfortable. I was in a very bad car accident and my back is completely messed up. I've taken 23 physical therapy sessions in less than a year, and will have to take more soon because my back is stiffening up again. I'm on painkillers for which they keep increasing the dosage. It's a pain in the behind, sigh. I think you're very brave to go in for the ones you've gone to!
I found a great way to use the Holiday Song challenge! Yay!
My sis had her first baby on Dec. 5, (this was 2008...that's how far behind I am with my chronological scrapping. Ho Hum, nothing I can do about it, that's how I roll....can't scrap out of order ) I thought I could scrap the pics with the title "Baby, All I Want for Christmas is You"! hahahaha! Yay! I was struggling with that one....can't wait to get it done now!
Thanks so much Charlsanne for the challenges! They are really helping me! I love that they are not too specific so I can use them with my 2008 pics I'm scrapping.
I hear ya, I was in a car accident too in September, so my nerves are all messed up in my arm. Really hoping one more treatment does it. Also been going to PT 3 times a week for the past 6 weeks, so it's been a pain to say the least. And yes the nerve blocker is very traumatic. The first time I went they couldn't get an IV started, took 3 times was so painful, the actual blocker wasn't as bad. But yesterday they got the IV in no trouble at all and this time took forever for them to do the blocker, was very painful, kept upping the dose of sedation and pain killers, so still woozy this morning, but my arm feels better!
One more treatment is all I hope to do and plan is next week for it. I'd like to wait for the big bruise on my neck to go down first, hate going out in public with a droopy eye and face and bruising on arms from IV and middle of neck. UGH!!!

aww that will be perfect, can't wait to see it.
Glad you all are enjoying the challenges, I have about 10 more ready, need to keep getting inspiration it's coming slowly but surely, at least I had the next few days done in advance for write ups at least. And hoping to do my pages soon too!! once I get on a roll I can't stop, and maddy is having her bday party on Sunday so will have pictures of that to get scrapped too!
