Title: It's beginning to look so NOT like Christmas!
Hostess: Deb
Keyword: DEC11VSNI
Day/Date: Saturday, December 10th
Time: 4:00 pm EST
When you think of Christmas, do you think of snow? Being from the Deep South, we rarely have a White Christmas...I do love it when it gets cold enough to wear a warm sweater, sit by a glowing fire and sip some hot cider, but more often than not in Florida, it's short sleeves and cold drinks poolside.
My challenge is to use an "alternative" image that works for Christmas in a warmer climate...go through your stamp collection and get creative!

Hostess: Patty (pattyb)
Keyword: DEC11VSNKIDS
Day/Date: Saturday, December 10th
Time: (Noon) 12:00pm ET
Hey kids it's time for you to get inky! Today you even get your hands messy and I promise you that mom will be A-okay with it! I mean it's a Splitcoast VSN challenge so she has to be okay with it right? I'll bet she'll even want to do this! Look at your fingers, see all those lines on the tips of them? Those are your "fingerprints" and no body else has fingerprints like yours! I want you to use your fingerprints to make a winter or Christmas card or picture - you can do reindeer (see the sample) or snowmen, or Christmas trees, Christmas bells, Christmas stockings, maybe a wreath, lights, or even a penguin! Those are some of my ideas, what can you think of make with your fingerprints?
Special note to mom - you might want to have them make two so that you can frame one! I guarantee you that those little fingers will grow all to fast, you'll have a special memento and it never hurts to have a copy of those unique fingerprints.

Title: Give me the Warm Fuzzies! Hostess: Lydia Fiedler (Understandblue) Keyword: DEC11VSNA Date: Friday, December 9th Time: 5:00pm ET
Welcome to the Winter Wonderland VSN!
Our hostesses have a wonderland of fun challenges ahead, and I have the privilege of getting this party started, so please join me in...
A warm fuzzy challenge!
When it's cold outside - what gives you the warm fuzzies?
A favorite holiday song? A soft fuzzy sweater? A warm fire and a good book? A friend or your main squeeze?
For my sample, I am using something that gives me the warm fuzzies in a serious way - a BUNNY!!
I mean - come on, can you resist this???
So I used this picture for inspiration and the adorable Cat's Pajama's Freezin' Season set to give you guys the warm fuzzies!
So now it's your turn!!
Show me what warms your heart, your soul, your fingers or toes on those frosty nights!

Title:DEC11VSNB ~ Friday, Dec 9 ~ 6 pm EST ~ There is no business like SNOW business Hostess: Rebecca Grohall (rgrohall) Keyword: DEC11VSNB Day/Date: Friday, December 9th Time: 6:00pm ET
I live in sunny florida and don't get to see much of the white stuff, but you know what they say "there's no business, like SNOW business"! Okay, so maybe that's what I say {wink}.
I do love snowflakes and all those great snow themed quotes like "some of my best friends are flakes" or "snowflakes are winter's butterflies".
My challenge for you is to incorporate a snowflake into your project. Use a stamp of a snowflake, a die cut, or get creative and make your own snowflake with paper and scissors.
Remember that you can't combine VSN challenges.

Time: 8:00 pm EST
"Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening,
a beautiful sight,
We're happy tonight.
Walking in a winter wonderland."
Hi everyone! This is my first time hosting, and I am SO excited to be here with all of you!
This VSN theme, Winter Wonderland, made me think of the song "Walking in a Winter Wonderland." Christmas music definitely helps get me into the winter and Christmas spirit!
My challenge focuses on music! Create a winter or Christmas card and incorporate music. Some ideas: use a music-themed stamp, paper with music on it, or even a sentiment with a line from your favorite song.
I can't wait to see what you create!
Remember that you can't combine VSN challenges in order to be eligible for the Sparkly Silver and White Snowflake Ornament!

Title: Jack's been painting his frosty pictures again!
Hostess: Vannessa (saffivort)
Keyword: DEC11VSNE
Day/Date: Friday, December 9th
Time: 9:00pm EST
I love the early frosty mornings of winter when all the trees and leaves are covered with a layer of pure white frosting! You know Jack Frost has been out and about during the night to make everything pretty and white.
I found these lyrics to a Jack Frost song and they were just perfect for this challenge!
Come out, come out!
Winter is here;
Come out, come out!
The weather is clear.
Jack Frost has brought something
For you and for me;
His frosty white paintings --
A wonder to see!
Come look, come look!
We've only begun;
Come look, come look!
For Jack is not done.
Yes, there are more presents
From jolly Jack Frost;
They're hidden in leaves
That the north wind has tossed.
Ripe nuts, ripe nuts!
For me and for you;
Ripe nuts, ripe nuts!
Let's gather a few.
Jack Frost seems to know
That we love things to eat;
And hot roasted chestnuts
Are such a good treat!
Your challenge is to create a card using the frosted images technique. This is a really nice easy one to do. Stamp your image using whichever colour you choose, then stamp over the top in white and smudge it a bit with your finger. You get a muted image with a delicate layer of frost over the top!
For my Christmas trees card I added a bit of extra frost just by smudging some more white ink round the image using my finger straight to the ink pad.
You can also see this technique being done by Lisa Johnson for a Papertrey Ink Make It Monday challenge here.

Title: Christmas Presents
Hostess: Ky (scrapacat)
Keyword: DEC11VSNF
Day/Date: Saturday, December 10th
Time: 1:00pm ET
Who doesn't love to get presents? And who doesn't love to give them? A beautiful tree all piled up with beautifully wrapped presents, the lights that twinkle, and children's giggles are wonderful to me. Add to that a snowy winterland outside the window... heaven! I know many of you celebrate in many different ways around the globe. Just adapt this challenge to your personal viewpoint - everyone is welcome!
My challenge for you is to incorporate packaging or wrapping paper in your project. You could use distressed, torn cardboard, or beautiful foiled paper. Try some old-style wrapping paper like Sunday comics - get creative and have fun! Don't forget the pretty ribbon and bows!
My samples show you cardboard and acetate from packaging. I love both options! The acetate was colored with alcohol inks, and provides the warm glow in the windows of the snowy home. Stripped cardboard gives a warm, outdoorsy feel for flowers. Mix it up!
Here are a few techniques you can check out - they are strictly optional for this challenge!

Title: Cold Nights, Warm Drinks
Hostess: Tami, tamijo
Keyword: DEC11VSNH
Day/Date: Saturday, December 10
Time: 3:00 pm EST
Winter and holidays- the words together just bring a feel of a chill in the air. The coffee shops appear to do a booming business when it's cold outside because people want to warm up so they splurge a little. With the holidays comes gift cards/gifts that help support that Your challenge is to create a gift card holder for a "hot" drink gift card.
OR, if you are giving a gift with coffee (or hot chocolate, etc) and the accessories to go with it- make a tag/packaging for your gift!
The catch is that it MUST have something drink related on your project. The very first VSN challenge I participated in was a hot chocolate holder (I loved it!) so that's what made me think of this one.

Hostess: Cindy, scrapcollectr57
Keyword: DEC11VSNK
Day/Date: Saturday, Dec 10th
Time: 6:00pm EST
I know the term is really "Up periscope" but in this challenge, I'm taking creative license and using it to refer to telescopes. I love making interactive cards and a card that swivels open to reveal more designs and a hidden sentiment really fits my bill!
My challenge isfor you to make a winter themed card or project using the telescoping technique as your inspiration! Beate put together a wonderful tutorial HERE if you'd like a little help but I can break it down for you into the following easy steps: Gather three different sized circles. (Scalloped circles are cool, too.) Fill them with your designs (I like to put a sentiment in the largest circle). Then attach the smallest circle to the medium sized circle with a brad, then attach the medium one to the largest one with a brad. You should be able to swivel them closed when you're done. I chose to add mine to an easel card so that it's easier to display but that's just an option you can add, not required.

Hostess: Toni (ravengirl)
Keyword: DEC11VSNL
Day/Date: Saturday, December 10th
Time: 7:00pm EST
Our Winter Wonderland theme immediately conjures up a snowy scene in my mind. I absolutely love it when the snow is falling in thick chunks outside while I am cozied up inside. As a child, I would lay on my back at the base of our sliding glass door and watch the snow fall. It was glorious (and a bit dizzying)!
The next best thing to the real deal are the snowglobes that often decorate coffee tables at Christmas time. I could spend hours turning them upside down and then watching the snow fall on the scene inside the glass. They come in a few different shapes, so I thought that would translate well into a sketch for this VSN.

"Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home."
- Edith Sitwell
Isn't that the truth! I'm so glad to be able to hostess another VSN challenge. These are so much fun and I'm glad y'all are still here playing along
One of my favorite memories of the holiday's is being with my mom in the kitchen while we made all sort of goodies for Christmas dinner and/or brunch. Another one is the cookie swaps that we have at work... Yes, quite food based. Christmas morning isn't Christmas morning at my house without breakfast casserole, sourdough cinnamon rolls, and croissants/scones.
My challenge is focusing on "the good food" or drink... My challenge is for you to make a recipe card for your favorite treat (edible or drinkable (is that a word?) ). You can decorate it any way you choose as long as there is a winter/Christmas/Chanukah/Kwanzaa themed. I can't wait to see what yummy treats are in store for us!!! Who knows maybe I'll find another must have for the holiday table .

Title: Walking In A Winter Wonderland
Hostess: Michelle (Mit240z)
Keyword: DEC11VSNN

Time: 9:00pm EST
When I think of winter I think of a fresh snow fall. A light, glittery blanket covering the rooftops, trees and grass. I especially love it when it covers the christmas lights and you can see the colors softly glowing beneath it. If only that snow never touched the roads and you never had to shovel it!!
My challenge to you is to create your own winter wonderland scene. When you think of winter what sights give you that heartwarming feeling that only winter can bring?

Title: Winter Sparkles!
Hostess: LuvLee (Lee)
Keyword: DEC11VSNO
Day/Date: Saturday, December 10th
Time: 10:00 pm EST
Wintertime means snow and snow is SPARKLY!!!!! Winter is my favorite season and I just love snow!!!
My challenge is a Technique Challenge.....to make your entire image panel sparkle!! The technique is to use loose glitter to cover your panel. After you stamp and color your image (if you're coloring).....then you'll use your glue pad to completely cover the image panel so it's entire surface is sticky. I personally then sprinkle over the glue either Stampin' Up Heat-n-Stick or Judikins Sticky Stuff. After tamping off the excess, use your heat gun to melt the powder. Then sprinkle glitter on top and tamp off the extra.
Or you can just pour loose glitter directly over the sticky surface you made with the glue pad or even a thin layer of glue. That's it! Now you have a glittery image panel and can make your card!!
Since this is a specific Technique Challenge you will need to use loose glitter.....no Stickles or glitter glue.

Title: These Boots Are Made For . . . Snow
Hostess: Julie Masse (jmasse)
Keyword: DEC11VSNP
Day/Date: Saturday, December 10th
Time: 11:00pm ET
What do your winter boots say about you? Do you have just 1 pair or are you the Imelda of boots? ;) Living in the north where we get plenty of snow, I definitely need a sturdy, warm pair of boots to muck around in. However, that doesn't mean I can't have a pretty pair of tall, black, high-heeled boots for when I'm feeling a bit sassier. Boots are also a necessity for my children's winter wardrobe - they need something extra warm for lots of snow play! Whatever they look like, if you have snow, you have boots!
My challenge for you is to use winter boots on your project.Use a stamp that depicts winter boots, patterned paper with boots, a winter boot die cut or templatelet your imagination run wild and show us your style!!
Remember that you can't combine VSN challenges in order to be eligible for the Sparkly Silver and White Snowflake Ornament!
