Tonight we were working on a map project for school. I chose a green marker from her case and her response was: "But Mom, I was hoping to use Gable Green".
I immediately saw dollar signs and addictions to paper and tools in my future! What have I done??!!
Of course I am TOTALLY proud! LOL My poor husband...I don't know if will be able to handle 2 of us! My New Year's resolution is to work on my 6 year old. ;)
I can so relate. My 11 year old granddaughter Faith is truly artistic and creative. She carries a sketch book around with her everywhere and is always drawing and sketching. She has some real talent (not from grandma, I just stamp, color and paste, lol.)
Anyway I let her use my set of Prismacolor pencils to color in one of her sketches while she was at my house. She immediately fell in love with them.
Soon I was hearing, "Bugga, all I really, really want for Christmas is Prismacolor pencils. I don't care if I don't get anything else, but I keep thinking about those pencils."
I was lucky and found a set of 72 Prismacolors on ebay for a price that didn't totally break grandma's bank. I can't wait to give them to her!
PS the purple cat that is my avatar is a card she drew and colored for me when she was only 5 years old.

Cute story! How great that your daughter is that involved in your art! We have 2 daughters who picked up stamping from me, although they're much more creative than I. My husband says that had he known what was coming he'd have purchased stock in some of these stamping companies - lol!
Isn't it great to be able to share time, talent and supplies, of course with our children/grandchildren!!!!!!
So cute!! My 5 year old son LOVES what he calls "Big Shotting". If I have a project that requires multiple pieces through the B.S. he's my go to man. He also loves pretending he's the mailman/UPS man and delivers to me my SU boxes. Too funny.
It's great to be able to share this hobby/craft with our kids.
When DD was 5, she wanted her room painted Pixie Pink. Yes, I took a sheet of cardstock to the store to be color matched. Sigh. it was a very bright room!

LOL! When my daughter was 11, she wanted her room tempting turquoise and gable green. And yes, she knew the exact color names, and we took cardstock to Home Depot to have the paint matched!
My 7 yo is hooked. She knows she can use my toys as long as she puts them back. I've given her quite a stash of things that I don't use regularly but she seems to prefer my cardstock, inks, and copics to her own crafting toys :-)

Yeah, I know! I did get my DD some Copics, which she LOVES. We were in Japan at the time and they were much cheaper when the exchange rate was good.

So adorable! Big Shotting! Sounds exactly like something my boys would have said if I had been in this when they were little.
I have three boys too. They are now in their 20's. I keep secretly hoping to share this lovely hobby with a grandchild one day. None are yet married, but my youngest is engaged! I am not in any hurry, but that picture keeps popping up in my head, me as the Grandma sharing paper crafts with the grandkids! You all are so lucky to have that to share! Artistic talent runs in this family. Not me, but my mother and several of my brothers and their son's. My oldest son is graphically talented, and my youngest can draw very well. Why that talent skipped me, I don't know. I have been called creative though, so I'll go with that! I know it will be fun when the time comes!
It's good to know that the crafting industry doesn't have anything to worry about. We're handing down the addiction from generation to generation. My 7 yo daughter is hooked too. She recently broke her right arm. She's right handed. The next day she was getting me to stamp images for her so that she could color them with her left hand. She did great. I wad impressed.
My 19 yr old son with Asperger's Syndrome has always stamped with me. He's very talented in several mediums so in many cases he has better tools than me! He always goes to the scrapbook store garage sales where people bring in their stuff. He's collected quite a bit.
He's really into comic books as a collector. If he should ever decide to draw them, we would have to go down the Copics road.
I can totally relate, lol! My girls have always had beautiful school projects because I let them use my crafting supplies. They have always been careful with my stash and it's great to see how creative they are.
I gave up several years ago on her having "her" supplies. We share everything including cardstock, stamps, inks and coloring stuff. The other things that were hers are all the ones we now take to do craft projects with camp, scouts, etc. If they get messed up, I don't care!
