~TLC351 Its A Wrap! ~ (11/14/11)
Hi Stampers!
Forty One. Thats how many days until Christmas! Can you believe that?! Im a bit scaredLOL. So Joan and I have agreed that between now and December 19th, our challenges are going to focus on the holidays. We all love making cards and well still do that, but were going to give you some fun and easy dcor, packaging, etc., ideas too!
~ Its A Wrap ~
Today were going to focus on the wrap. I dont know about you, but I seem to buy tons of wrapping paper every year and it just gets more and more expensive. I totally intend on saving it for the next year, but the next year comes around and I find some new and different pretty paper and I buy that instead. Ive even gone so far as to only use certain colors (to coordinate with my tree) some years.
I opened a box of paper from Stampin Up the other day and there was this huge pile of lightweight butcher paper stuffed in the box. I pulled it out and tossed it on the floor for the kitten to play with. He loved that stuff! But then I grabbed a chunk of it before he completely shredded it and I thought it would make a great wrap!
There are so many ways to do creatively wrap a gift. Newspaper can be stamped and colored. You can print or stamp on copy paper. Use twine or ribbon or designer scraps to make belly bands. You can add tags or poinsettias or even a pop up Santa Claus. Get as creative as you wish!
Here is my sample:
~ All Wrapped Up ~

~*~*~*~
Now for some exciting news!! WE NEED YOU! YES, YOU!
If you are interested in being a co-host/guest designer for the TLC , please send me a PM with your e-mail address. Guest designers will have input on the challenges and also make samples for Joan or I. Then, sometime after the first of the year, we will be putting together a small team of regular designers to work with us on a six month basis. I hope youll join us!
Now thats a wrap!

Sounds like fun! thrifty and green....we reuse gift bags a lot around here, but I still wrap presents that leave the house. ;)

Oh this sounds fun!!! I'm on vacation this week and really need to get a start on my little gifts for my dept managers. I have about 40 to make so I definitely need to recycle what I have ;)
Great challenge, Holly! Thanks for the inspiration!

Great challenge, Holly. Got me started on gift-wrapping....one down, lots more to go! ; ) Must say tho', it is easier to use wrapping paper on hand. This one is for a special friend, so I don't mind the extra time in making a "package presentation". Thanks!

Perfect timing with this challenge - my best friend's birthday is next week so you inspired me to make the gift wrap for her present:

...to make/decorate your own wrapper. OK, this is it. It was fun once I got over the fact that I do this on a regular basis and didn't have to be nervous just because it was a challenge. Thanks, Holly.

I love making my own wrap, embellishing store bought bags, and making giant tags to hang on a bottle of wine, or tie around a box of home made cupcakes!

Card Folder
I put this on the technique thread a couple weeks ago and I hope I'm able to put it here also. It is a neat card folder to hold 10-12 A2 sized cards.

I've been saving that paper from the SU! orders for years! I give my 7 yo DGS a wheel and let him decorate it then use it to wrap christmas and birthday presents. The kids just destroy the wrap anyway but he thinks it's cool that he gets to "make" the wrapping paper and do some stamping at the same time. I had saved some of the rolls from Christmas/Birthday wrapping paper I had bought and wrap the brown paper on them to save it for use later on. Great idea to go green!

TLC351 I love hazelnut spread
For this challenge, I took off the front label, cut out the title and graphic, and reattached it to 2 DC tags made from a Holiday Traditions paper pad in cream and cinnamon brown, with a polka dot border. I used Studio G's kitchen stamps for the stamped images, and decorated it all with American Crafts brown dotted ribbon. Here's my decorated gift item
