Seriously... I need some help with the Happy Hauntings 3D house construction.
I have spent hours trying to get this darn house built. This is my 3rd or 4th try (I've lost count at this point!) and each time I find that my parts are not cutting at the right size and I have to start all over.
I'm new to this cricket stuff and apparently I'm missing something - I think the issue involves the "Real Size"feature. I don't really understand what the manual is trying to tell me the Real Size feature is supposed to do or when I should use it.
I would like to contruct the house as big as possible so I've been using the Fit To Page feature - which means the house is being cut at 7". I then cut all the remaining pieces using the same "fit to page" feature but the parts were too big for the base building. I therefore cut all the pieces again without "fit to page". The pieces were once again still too big. I then cut the pieces using the "fit to page" for the base building and the "real size" feature when cutting the remaining pieces. (I'm now totally out of black paper and am pulling my hair out!)
So I decided to see if I could find a tutorial on You Tube and found a video where someone said to use fit to page when cutting the base building but to NOT use "Fit to Page or the Real Size" when cutting the other pieces. I tried that, but the pieces were now too small.
I am totally confused and am losing all hopes of ever finishing this project. :confused:
Can someone please tell me what to do?? I'm about to box up this evil cricket and send it to the dungeon!! :twisted:
In case it is helpful to know what type machine I am using, it is a Cricut Expression - and do not have a gypsie.
I think once you get the size of the largest piece - 7, turn off the Fit to Page and cut all the other pieces using the '7' scale. If you leave the Fit to Page feature on, the Cricut will cut all the other pieces to fit to the page on the mat. The machine is doing as instructed, cutting EACH image to the largest scale of the paper it is being cut from. Hope this helps.
Post #2 is telling you correctly. I also use the Expression and find when cutting the inside the building pieces......pieces usually done in yellow, I use a lighter weight paper but the same size as the outside pieces. That way they fit inside easier.
Have you peeked over at the Cricut MB: Provo Craft Community. Several of the girls/guys have made the Happy Haunting house. They would have all the trade secrets. Good luck! I don't own Happy Hauntings but I love all the houses I have seen made with that cartridge. Some of the girls have even turned them into fancy castles.
