Creative Ways to Package Treats

Are there any tutorials out there that show how to package homemade goodies - like cookies or peppermint bark? I would like it if the packaging was medium sized but if there are some that are smaller but would fit the cookies in them that will do.

Most of the ones I've seen involve saving containers and altering them for the season. Here is an example in the gallery:

I think there's a lot in what Bugga says. To keep stuff like cookies properly fresh you really need an airtight container, so I tend to alter tins or tubs. Some candies don't matter so much, in which case I'll make any sort of a box - plenty of tutorials here and on the Scor-Pal website.

If you go to the resources section here and search "treat" you'll see a bunch. I've made this one at Christmas and filled it with candies in cello bags tied at the top with ribbon. I've also used the cello bags with a top not die folded in half stapled over the top for a quick treat bag topper.

When I make peanut brittle, I use a ziplock sandwich bag and make a bag topper. I always think the patterned cello bags look busy and the receiver can't immediately tell what is inside. That is just my opinion, of course

For cookies or squares, I do use tins. And because they look nice anyway, I generally don't add more to them except a wide wire ribbon maybe, and a punched tag. Plus, they are reusable.

I have seen really nicely decorated packaging and they look great. My personal taste leans toward simple and the main focus is what is inside.

Potato Chip Pringle containers work great for cookies. (both the small and larger containers) Decorate with favorite scrapbook paper,ribbon, lace, etc. put tag on lid and all fixed up.
These containers work great when sending cookies to those in the military, just wrap each cookie separate and stack in pringles container.

Love the ziplock bag with topper idea! I've made stuff for craft fairs and packaged it that way, and never thought to use that idea for my own Christmas treats! Go figure.

I never thought of using a pringles can- that's a really good idea.
