Challenge Title: Paint Your Heart Out
Hostess: stampinlibby aka Libby
Keyword: HYCCT1117
Date: Monday, October 17th, 2011
Today's challenge is inspired by my amazing grandma. She is an incredible artist. She has painted on canvas, on walls like the beautiful trompe l'oeil scene in the entryway of her home, on boxes, on sets for plays with the community theater group she helped start in my hometown, on faces when she has done stage make-up... the list goes on and on. I would love to have just a fraction of her talent!! Well ok, maybe I inherited a fraction - I wish I had ALL of it!! And - well - she's also a breast cancer survivor!! So in honor of my breast cancer surviving artist grandma - PAINT will be required on the projects for today's challenge!
You can use any sort of paint, any way you'd like! Acrylics, watercolors, shimmer paint, washes - you name it! Create a fun background, color in your image, do whatever strikes your fancy! I cannot wait to see what you PAINT!!

View the Hope You Can Cling To Gallery HERE
View the Hope You Can Cling To Master Challenge Thread HERE
UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. All Hope You Can Cling To Challenge Entries must be uploaded to the Hope You Can Cling To Gallery, with the specific challenge keyword, no later than November 7th, 2011 at 12:00 Noon Central Time to be eligible for our fabulous prizes! Post a link to your entry in this thread.
2. You may not combine challenges, but you are welcome to create multiple cards for each challenge.
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
4. Please package all challenge entries with an envelope, protected with a clear plastic bag and mail them to our partner at the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center to benefit patients being treated for breast cancer and their family. We would like for them to receive cards throughout the month of October, but we understand if you'd like to mail all your cards at once.
5. Since these cards will be used by visitors for patients, most should be blank inside, but feel free to send cards with messages of hope for the patients in addition to your challenge cards!

Thank you for participating in this card drive!

Phew, I'm glad we only have to use paint and not actually draw something, LOL. For sure I'd never be capable of a trompe l'oeil!!
Gotta get the housework out of the way, but maybe I'll go and start an acrylic background or something first...

LOL! You're welcome to try trompe l'oeil if you'd like, but it's surely not required. ;-)

HYCCT Acrylic Agapanthus by Cook22 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
I'd never dream of attempting trompe l'oeil for home decor. I've never even been really successful with shading stencils nicely. I need stamps because I can't paint or draw ;-).

I'm painting my bathroom today...and oh by the way, I'm basing my technique on a piece of dp from an old SU scrapbooking kit! Don't guess that quite counts for the challenge so hope I can get to it between coats of paint!

HYCCT1117 Seashells by Crafty Julia
For today's Hope You Can Cling To Challenge, using painting, I got out my aqua painters and my watercolor pencils, and colored these shells from Inkadinkado. My friend Kathy provided the embossed yellow card, and the perky yellow DC flower. I added a rainbow ribbon, and some corrugated cardboard for texture. I finished with aqua and ice pink ribbons. Here's my card:

This was absolutely, positively the hardest challenge for me so far. I spent quite a bit of time trying to color images with my watercolor wonder crayons with poor results. I pulled out some acrylic paints I forgot I had (picked up at Archivers when they were doing a demo and they've sat ever since) but that didn't work. I ended up using my watercolor markers on a flower stamp from Heatfelt Thanks and "huffing" on it to get a watercolor look. I hope I didn't cheat! My card can be found here:

This was a fun challenge. I painted the background for my Bella stamp with water colors. This challenge scared me at first, but it ended up being fun and I really liked the way my card turned out.
thanks for the challenge!

I used Twinkling H2Os as my paint. I agree with Lynn -- this WAS a difficult challenge. "Painting" does not come easy to me. Here's my card --

Okay, this was a hard challenge for me. I am a paper crafter for a reason...painting, drawing, etc. is NOT my forte. I whimped out and punched some flowers and painted the edges. I have to say that the card turned out pretty cute. Well, my second try anyway. I threw the first one in the trash.

I'm more of a colorer and not so much of a painter, but I enjoyed the challenge. I may even have to practice with my paints a little more. Thanks, Libby!

HYCCT1117 DHAT10s Painted Friendship
Here is my HYCCT1117 painted card. I used a technique from Jennifer McGuire's thinking inking series for Two Peas in a Bucket. Here is the link.
On mine version I stamped the text and nature background first. Then I used removable adhesive on a die cut to mask the surface. I painted with Paint Daubers and sprinkled some blue patina perfect pearls over it while it was wet. The paint has a beautiful sparkly sheen. I'm making six cards to send. Here is a link to my card Painted Friendship
