Challenge Title: Looking in on You!
Hostess: TexasGrammy ... a.k.a. Bev
Keyword: HYCCT1106
Date: Thursday, October 6th, 2010
"Looking in on You!" is something we've all done when checking on someone who is battling disease ... from temporary sickness all the way to the battle of a lifetime, cancer. Whether we "look in" on someone down the street, or across the country, supporting our sisters in their battle is all-important. Our visits, phone calls, prayers, flowers, and heartfelt handmade cards are all a part of their total care package.
Let's look in on them with a window card! Now of course, PINK on your window card would be a great touch, but if you're running out of pink ... it's not mandatory at all. This one is all about "looking in" on our sisters. ;)
My same-age cousin is currently battling breast cancer for the 2nd time ... on the "other" side this time. Her maternal grandmother, mother, 2 maternal aunts and one of those aunt's daughters have all battled breast cancer and survived! In the case of those who have passed on before us, cancer was 'not' involved in their passing. Moral of this story? FIGHT LIKE A GIRL! We can beat this!

I'm packing to leave tonight for a women's church retreat, but when I saw it was my gal pal, Bev being the hostess today, I had to throw together a fast card. For fast, I kind of liked it.

I hate to sound totally stupid, but here goes! What constitutes a 'window card?' I checked resources and bunch of things came up. I watched the tutorial for the recessed window card. However, I looked at the one Liz posted and am a bit confused. (Newby! Can you tell?)

HYCCT Through the Window by Cook22 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
A window stamp, a window aperture - I think I've covered all the bases with this, and lots of pink too. I just heard on Sunday of a friend who's most recent check-up showed another lump - it's only just over four years since her first round with cancer, and she's only just a year older than me. I hope your cousin wins her fight this time round.

Good morning ladies!~ My card's completed for this challenge. It can be found here:
HYCCT1106 Look Through My Window by muzbysmom - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
I had a hard time punching through multiple layers either with a punch or a nestie so I chose to ink the edge of my embossed cardstock. I went with what I consider to be a window card but totally respect what other's think they are! I guess that's what makes us all unique!

Hi Rebecca! "My" idea when I wrote the challenge, was to have a cut-out on the front of the card that allows us to 'look at the inside' of the card. However, as you've seen, we really do have a few different ideas about window cards ... and they're all just fine! Have fun with it and create the one that suits your style. ;)

Okay, I'm losin' it. I just know that I posted my card here, but now I don't see my post here or anywhere else. So if this is a duplicate post, just chalk it up to senility. Hmmm, maybe I typed it, previewed it, but didn't submit it???
I really enjoyed this challenge as I tried something totally new for me and it turned out nice.
Window card.

I hope a popped up frame will pass for a window - lol! I guess I didn't read the "rules" very closely! Here's my Beary Pumpkin card.

HYCCT1106 Bird in the Nest by Crafty Julia
For my window card, I used my Creative Memories' 1 1/2" circle punch for my window. I stamped Hampton Art's/Studio G New Home (Bird in the nest) for my image, and used Stampin Up watercolor pencils, softened with a wet brush. Love and Joy Come to You is from an old holiday set. I finished the card with SU cardstock, a flower DC (CM mini flower punch) on an oval cut with CM's small oval (cutting system). The last touch was some American Crafts light green ribbon and some lilac stretch lace. The inside has some freehand painted grass and flowers for decoration.
Here is my card:

OMGosh, Bev, I had such a BLAST making this card! Thanks for such a great challenge and I sure do miss seeing your name in the forum. Hugs!
I'm linking both the front and the inside; after all, the window only shows a sneak peek and all the action is on the inside...LOL!
