Q: Can I use embellishments and glitter on the cards I send to MD Anderson?
A: Yes - bling makes the world go around!
Q: If I don't have clear envelopes can I put my cards in ziploc bags?
A: Absolutely!
Q: Should I leave my cards blank or write in them?
A: You can send blank ones for the families to use, write a note in some for the patients, or send blank cards with a note on a post-it inside - it's up to you!
Q: I don't see my card in the Hope You Can Cling To Gallery - what do I do?
A: Click on your card, choose Edit Photo and check the category - make sure it says "Hope You Can Cling To Challenge Gallery 2011". Change the category in the drop down if you need to. Then check your keywords. If you need to change your keyword - it will take about 15 minutes to show up in the gallery after a change.
Q: Should I save all my cards until the end of the challenge and mail them all at once, or mail them as I make them?
A: The MOST important part of this campaign is actually mailing your cards to the MD Anderson Cancer Center. (Mailing instructions in each challenge). If you can spare the postage, it would be wonderful to have them receive cards throughout October, but if you'd like to send a bundle or two, that's fine too! We will have our partner at MD Anderson do special prize drawings from the cards she receives, so it is important to mail them in a timely manner! These cards brought great joy to the patients at the center last year, and we are so grateful for you sharing your art for such a great cause. If you are outside the US and mailing your cards is cost prohibitive, we would love it if you would donate your cards to a similar organization in your area.
Q: Where is the list of prizes?
A: In the Prize Thread (link to come)
Q: Where do prize drawings take place?
A: In the Chat thread (link to come)
Q: where are winners' names posted?
A: In the Prize Winners Thread (link to come)
I just came across this event and I am very excited about it as my sister and I both were diagnosed with breast cancer earlier in the year. Do the cards that we send to MD Anderson have to come from the challenges posted here or can we send any of our hand made cards? As a SU! Demonstrator I have lots of samples that I would love see go to a good cause. Thanks so much for doing this; looking forward to it.
I don't know how I missed this last year since stalking SCS is on of my most effective procrastination tools... I hope to join in this year. I've had some minor health challenges in the past couple of years but am now so much better. I'm so very grateful for that - this challenge would be a great way to pay it forward.
I know the event is primarily support for breast cancer patients and their families, weren't there a few challenges that were aimed at other kinds of cancers too last year?
So far my family has been blessed not to have breast cancer in its history, but other cancers (leukemia, prostate, testicular...) not so much.
Can I ask a question about combining?
I know we're not allowed combine the HYCCT challenges, but can we combine with some of the other weekly challenges so long as they get sent to MD Anderson?

Thanks, Sabrina, that was one of my questions.
I asked this in the prize thread but I can see I should have put it here...
I will not be able to participate after the first week or so of Oct. It is fun to just participate - but I am curious - is it necessary to do all the challenges all month in order to be eligible for the prizes? I can send in a few cards early for that part of the challenge, but I will not be around again until early Nov.
Lydia, a spreadsheet will be awesome. I know we kicked off yesterday with 3 challenges, so will we have 3 today or only 1? I have a Michael's trip planned. Are there any items I should pick up that you are aware of? Thanks for your efforts on this card drive. Special hugs to all of you who are fighting, are survivors, or who are stamping to remember someone.
We will only have one challenge per day for most of the rest of the month with maybe a surprise thrown in here and there.
Okay I looked through all of the challenges and I don't see any special products you will need outside of the normal range of embellishments - ribbon, bling, etc. and of course clear envelopes to send your cards off in.
Great question! I can't wait to do Lee's challenge today! That cake cracks me up!
Lydia,
Question... When I click on the HYCCT Gallery -- the big one.. only one of my cards is shown out of 4.
From the individual gallery links, I can see the cards. Am I forgetting another keyword?
That means you didn't upload them to the HYCCT gallery - you uploaded them to your member gallery. They need to have the Hope You Can Cling to gallery as the category to "count".
Just click on the cards, click edit photo and then to the left from the drop down choose the right gallery. The photo will disappear for about 15 minutes and then show up in the right place
I didn't see if there was a time frame listed for the challenges, I know they are going on all month, so we have all month to get them uploaded or do the daily challenges have to be uploaded by a certain time? Thanks!
Hi Kim! We'd like for you to upload them each day and mail them in frequently. We will actually have our partner at MD Anderson pick some out of the mailbag for prizes throughout the month
However, the final deadline is November 7th at noon, and we are easygoing peeps here at Splitcoast. So whatever makes you feel creative and happy!
I am keeping my cards blank on the inside but I was wondering ....I usually put a little stamp on the back saying "handmade by" and just put my first name . Is that ok to do for these cards or should I leave the back blank?
just a quick question for us international girls... if we send them all at once is that ok?? as long as we post them into the gallery?? and before 7th november... just easier with postage...
What happened to our gallery? Or mine at least. All my HYCCT cards from last year and this have disappeared!! They are in the HYCCT gallery but no longer in my gallery.

Glad I saw this. I was putting the keyword in, but putting them into other galleries! So, I guess I'm heading back to do some edits!
I am beginning to feel like a slow learner - guess I am more of a skim reader. Does each card go in a plastic envelope (or zip lock or baggie?) or do we put all together in just one? I will not have a lot but will get my little collection in the mail in a couple of days.

Having asked questions yesterday, I can answer this one. The reason we are putting them into the clear envelopes or baggies is so that the patients and families can look through them and pick one. The clear one is to protect the cards as people handle them. Lydia told me that she also puts a regular envelope in her clear envelope with each card.
