ABC/123 VSBN: Letters O & P
Title: ABC/123 VSBN: Letters O/P Hostess: Melissa (mollymoo951) Keyword: Fall11VSBN8 Day/Date: Saturday, September 24, 2011 Time: 6 PM EST
Welcome to our Fall VSBN Academy. During your time here you will work on your personal ABC Album, the Subject is yours to choose. Each Academy Teacher will share with you what Subject they chose. You are to work on the Letters that they share with you. However, you do not need to use their word (unless you want too). The challenge will be their 1-2-3 steps below. Enjoy and be sure to share your page here and to use the correct keyword. Read the rules below your Teacher's challenge to be sure to get included for an Award or Recognition. Need a Subject idea? Check out this thread for inspiration!
For my ABC album, I have decided to work on my DS baby book. I have so many random pictures from his childhood that are just to cute to not scrap and show off! An ABC album seems to fit the bill!
Your assignment is using the letters are O & P. For my O word, I chose the phrase OH BOY! for the times I uttered those words! For my P, I chose pictures of the pets we had during his first five years.
Be inspired by a favorite sketch - a card sketch or a scrap map. Choose one and use it TWO times. Flip it for the second page.
Embellishments in clusters of THREE are a great feature; provide this feature. It can be a row of three pictures, a row of the same three bradsany one thing in a set of three.
I did my P page first...so I'll share that one first.
For my P page, I doodled (#1) the black border with four groups of three (#3) faux stitched "x" clusters. I also added two groups of three (#3) clear dew drops above the photos and below the "t" in my title. I flipped (#2) the Sally Sketch SBSC263. I may or may not add a journaling block to this page for the third picture, shown in the sketch. My letter is highlighted with a mollymoo crafted 3-D block, complete with mitered corners (#1). I do like making my own embellishments. This one is going to be made as I go...and that technique is definitely new to me...LOL. And I've got to do 26 of 'em. What was I thinking? (Usually, I make a stash of embellishments and use them later. This time, I'm making them as I go.)
For my O page, I flipped the sketch again! (#2) I stitched on my page! With a sewing machine! (#1) It's so fun to stitch on the page! This is the first time I have successfully stitched on a SB page! For groups of three...check out the triangle of dew drops on the bottom left corner! Again, there's the custom mollymoo 3-D block (#1). I love Marina Mist. It's a gorgeous color!
Good luck on your pages! Have fun! I can't wait to see them!
Here is the GALLERY for this challenge...leave a little luv for everyone!
UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. To be considered for VSBN Recognition, ALL CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10:00 PM EST on Sunday, October 2, 2011 using the correct Keyword. Each letter can be represented as an upload either individuall or as a double page spread.
2. You have a total 2 working hours to complete the challenge (the concept is you can complete 1 page for each letter represented using the challenge as a guide). For contest purposes, 1 'Letter' per participant per challenge will be eligible to earn award/recognition. For example: if you complete 2+ 'A' indivdual pages for this challenge, and upload each of them to the gallery you can only win one award/recognition for only one of your pages; other 'A' pages are part of the gallery to share but cannot win any award/recognition. If you upload a double page spread for 1 Letter as one upload, it will be considered one upload; please do not upload the pages individually or they will not be considered a double page spread.
3. It is the VSBN Challenge Host's decision to award/recognize pages that best represent her challenge based on the criteria in the challenge. Please be sure to write your description of how you interpreted his/her challenge in your Upload Description.
4. Please remember to put in the correct KEYWORD:Fall11VSBN8 when uploading your image; a wrong keyword means your submission may not be seen for consideration. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure you layout is seen by the host and all visitors.

Hi teacher! I love this challenge. Thank you for such a great challenge. I agree, we need to learn something new! I think I have found a technique. And just need to ask can we use any sketch, say that Sally gave us? Just any sketch?
They're off to learn new techniques and get busy :-) It's dinner time on the east coast so maybe many are off to eat between challenges. I put a link in the M/N challenge, they'll be here soon :-)
Well it shows I need a class because I'm moving very slow today. I could use some new techniques. thanks.

SUPER CUTE samples Melissa!! I'm here. I had put dinner in the crockpot for the family so when they're hungry they can help themselves so hopefully we're good here for me to get these pages done.
I do have to go switch the laundry ...

I used a Sally Sketch. You may do so as well or if you have another favorite sketch to use. Be great if you could share the source of your sketch! Not required tho.

There's some really interesting stuff and it feels good to apply some of these techinques to your SB pages. I'm sure y'all are noticing that some of these "techniques" you may have already used! We use far more techniques in our scrapping than we give ourselves credit for! Sometimes I think it's that intimidating word...techniques.

Thank you Lela! I picked up three pizzas. SURELY that will keep a 17 YO and my DH busy. How's that new kitty kat? I probably should mosey on down to the shop and see how Lincoln & Garfield are getting along.

Miss Molly Moo - has a nice ring to it, don't you think! lol
Checking in and thinking I might try stitching on my pages. I've been wanting to try that for ages, so here's my chance!
Check in later.
Melissa, my DH is fixing supper. He grilled Italion sausage out, and is making a pasta salad with it! yummy!
Well, so far I have changed my mind three times on the technique, and still haven't found a sketch! I have my photos and letters cut, and words for them. I am using the Stacked card for my letters. Maybe I will just go ahead and do journaling, then decide the other. This is a great challenge, but, it is challenging!!!
That New Technique part stumped me for a bit.
I picked Patchwork
Using MDS it was easy to doing the 'stitching'
My Sketch is SCS Sketch Challenge #7
I have it in my details but they do not seem to be loading.
3 Buttons on each page, I am printing the digital pages out to put in this album. I am going to tie real twine through the buttons. i couldn't figure that thought out in the digi world! LOL
I sure hope those links work I went back to look at my pages ans they are all messed up. It's changing which pic is where I put it (my M page and O page are the same pic)

Wow! Lucky girl! Wish DH would make dinner for me :-) I had made a Pampered Chef Sandwhich Ring for the 6 teens that were suppose to show up to work on their project but only 1 showed...project aborted! So we had the leftovers with soup.
Room is just about done. DH had to repair the wall storage thing (that white one from Michael's). It should be done tomorrow then I can clean up the last of it. I am dedicating tomorrow to getting caught up with the challenges :-) Today took longer than I anticipated but I think this is the best room set up yet and I got quite the pile of donations.

Your supper sounds yummy! There's so much to choose from technique wise. I, too, changed my mind a couple times. See, I made up the challenge BEFORE I made up my sample pages. Sure did.
When I have trouble deciding on a sketch, I look for one that has the number of photos I have available. I, too, found it challenging to find a sketch that I could flip what with the variety of different subjects & colors I was scrapping. :p But it's doable. Once I figured it out, it didn't take long to come together.

Thank you! I checked out your P page! Love it! Hang on a bit...it takes the gallery a while to catch up with the updates...but they'll come through.
ETA - checked out the O page! Love that pop of orange. Looks like the updates on the O came through ok!

Nothing is inspiring like a newly organized scraproom! Where do you take your donations?

I take my extra craft things down to the Senior Assisted Living here and they LOVE it! I took some yarn last time & one lady knitted/crocheted (?) me a cute pot holder! They always write nice thank you's and seem very appreciative of the supplies.

That's awesome! I know where I'm taking excess craft supplies!

Aw, that's sweet! I don't do yarn crafts but maybe I'll pick some up to go with it, I bet they might need some. I did move my sewing machine (which I've not used in years) to my bedroom. I'm hoping to start trying some sewing. The sewing table was always covered in too much scrappy stuff to ever use. Maybe now that it's out of there and cleared off I'll start using it more. :-) DH hasn't even said anything, so I wonder if he's even noticed?:lol::lol:
I have done a 2-pager for the letter P. Still have to add the journaling, but have to leave now for the evening, so I'll post it tomorrow morning. Hope to get my O page done too. Having trouble deciding on my word.
