Default Anyone heard of SMASH?!

K & Co has a new line coming out in the next few weeks. Originally it was supposed to be in April, but I just read yesterday that it is being delayed because of a production snafu. I am SO excited to get my first SMASH book...

If you haven't heard of this (though I'm never one to announce things that people haven't heard of LOL), here is a video of what you can do with it.

I can't wait to SMASH!

Checked out the video. Interesting. Basically what I do know with composition notebooks. I do want the dual pen/glue thing! That would be so cool.

Looks like fun. I need a break from my "real" scrapbooks for a while and this would be a great diversion. TFS!

I just picked up a smash book and some other smash goodies. What I like about the books is that they are spiral bound, sturdy and have lovely pages. All I need to do is add some photos, mementos (like ticket stubs) and some notes. Fast & Easy! In fact, I bought 3... 2 for my daughters and 1 for me to record our summer activities.

I like this idea. I will look for this new stuff. I like the spiral bound - allows you to add more stuff!

Love the pen/glue idea.

I created my own SMASH book using stuff from my stash. I wanted one...but they were all out of stock...then I thought...hmmm...just use my stash.

I've never heard of a SMASH book, but funny thing is - I already have a few. I have one that I put random clippings from magazines, etc of misc ideas. The other one I have is filled of ideas for weddings/bridal shower type stuff. I don't have a lot of stickers and stuff, but I do have quotes, notes, etc that I write in the margins and around the photos. Too funny! My old idea is now something new. By the way, I actually used old hardcover blank calendars that my sister was throwing out.

Thank you, Valancy1!
I had not seen this either, but the video looks great. One thing that I like is that it will let me do something with the JUNK I hold onto thinking, "This would be good for a scrapbook," when I will never use it in one of my regular books. The pen is indeed a selling point! Wonder if they actually make and sell the pen separately... I will be looking for these and look forward to having something that I can add to periodically and impulsively!

I have a couple of the K and Co smash books. I won one and preorder a couple of more. My daughter and I use them everyday......I put things we've done, things we want to do and other various things inside. I LOVE IT! And like people have said in previous posts you can pretty much come up with several things similar to the KandCo book. I personally like it all in tack when I begin. 2 Thumbs up for the glue/pen thingy!

Neat idea but it reminds me of the scrapbooking I did in the 80's before there were scrapbooking supplies.

I think Kand Co has a great product, however, since it is out of stock, I think every creative person will just make there own. I am confused about the glue and pen. it is a mini glue stick, it will run out really fast, i would think. Have to look into that item though. I think i will make one. it seems better than the boxes and boxes I have of all my ticket stubs and receipts etc.
It is old time scrapbooking come back.

Oh Melissa I love your book, I already had checked yours out.
I can't stop thinking about the possibilities with the smash idea. I love it.

I meant I thought k and co was shooting themselves in the foot by not having them available. As impatient as we crafters seem to be, we will be all over this.

A new term for an old thing. These Smashbooks are exactly what scrap booking used to be. A way to store/display memorabilia from things you did-ticket stubs, the occasional photo, postcards from trips, small little trinkets, etc, etc....
Though it's a nice easy way to do what I did 25+ years ago I think I'll stick to making my own from scratch. :-)

Thanks!

K and Co is helping us out. But seriously, I know what ya mean. That's why I decided to do my own...nothing in stock. Plus, it leaves the FRNs for other crafting goodies.

FRN = Federal Reserve Notes

I pulled out my scrapbook from 1987 - my senior year of high school. It's full of "smashbook" stuff. Senior year Memorabilia.

Anyone know where we can find old scrapbooks like that...with the paper itself post bound? No sheet protectors. May have to make my own, but they won't be true 12 x 12 since I'll have to use part of the 12 width for the holes for the paper to go into the post bound album.

That's what I'm currently using...mine is 9 x 12. I just wondered if anyone had seen the old type scrapbooks or even the spiral bound scrapbooks in 12 x 12 size.

The closest thing I can find to just plain paper pages are from Creative Memories and they have the metal? edges.

my thoughts are to tape it all with non permanent tape just to keep them handy for when I want to add them to a scrapbook. I like having the ephemera in with my photos but I am so disorganized with it all it is scattered and not in any order IF I can even find it. So this might be better in chronological order. And I get to use some of my pretty dp that is just sitting in boxes.

I got a pink one a few wks ago. Really love the way the inside is layed out. I love the pen too. I do agree though that you could make your own using composition books or if you have the Your Story you can make any size you desire. Gives me some great ideas..

Melissa,
Your book and blog are fantastic! Love what you did with it...Also realized you live close to my sister. She lives in Elizabethton too. I am thinking it's the same state of TN...

This is proof that scrapbooking has come full circle! Going back to its roots. lol These are cute, but I think I'd rather find my own notebook to use rather than one that's designated to be a smash book. Isn't that what smashing is all about? Taking what you have and throwing it all together?

I love this idea. I think this is something that I might actually get done - LOL!

I have the video on my blog: MADEBYEJP with my thoughts on it. I think its a great idea and the products look fun to use.

I got one a few days ago and here are a few things I did not know:
They are bigger than I thought. Slightly smaller than a regular notebook, bigger than a composition book. They come in three styles, Mod, Pretty (Vintage-y) and a doodle-y style. They also have stuff like stickers, tag/list booklets, clips, etc., to match. I like the idea of free-for-all scrapping, not just photos, and that it's a finite number of pages. Starting mine on Monday -- so excited to have a new toy!

Well ladies, I'm just jumping on this bandwagon and my plan is to use mine as an art journal. No photos! Just my thoughts, favorite scriptures and quotes and lots of embellies and emphemera. Although I like the K & co. Smash books for now I have fallen in love with the Michaels's brand Recollections. They are 3 ring binders and come in a few different themes. I bought two- the organizer which can be made into an awesome handmade planner and daily dose, which I plan to use for my art journal.

Could you ladies direct me to any more threads about these smash books.
