Default No More Shims

Just wondering if anyone else (besides me) plans on trying Score Pal's no more shims? It really looks like a great product. I don't usually need shims but I like the idea of being able to put household items, or leaves etc. through the Bug or Big Shot. What do you think?

I'm giving it a go. I always have to use shims to emboss, and I've never really found the perfect sandwich ... so I end up not embossing anything that isn't an embossing folder. Plus, how cool to be able to flatten things like bottle caps so easily! I love making embellishments with bottle caps ... and you can bet I'll be putting leaves and various household items through to emboss!

That's what really caught my interest. I'm glad it's coming out in the summer because I'd like to see how using a flower works out. The possibilities are going to be fun to try. I'm really glad someone came up with this idea. I don't usually pre-order anything. I find it too aggravating waiting and have had it happen where you pre order and then the items get delayed and don't ship when they're supposed to. However, this product I will pre-order.

Apparently this product has been in use in the UK for well over a year with good reviews. It looks interesting. I'll wait until it is not a pre-order and for the price to come down in Canada/USA once the novelty wears off.

I'm definitely getting it. I thought the Sizzix crease pad was supposed to let you cut/emboss in one pass, but it only works with ultra thin paper only. I'm desperate for something that allows you to do this.

I think I'm getting it too. I never understood what the crease pad was supposed to do so I never bought one. I like the tutorials Diana posted for the no more shims.

This looks like the charm pad for the Wizard. Anybody know for sure? It looks like the same color and type of rubber, anyway.

Looking at it in the videos where it's demonstrated with the Cuttlebug, it seems to be significantly thicker/spongier than the Wizard tan mat. Similar colour, and maybe same material, but certainly a thicker mat.

As background info, I have the Wizard mat and use it in my C'bug. It's effective but I do always have to shim, and depending on what I'm using ( a nestability die, an impression plate, an impressabilities stencil, brass stencil, etc.) I always have to shim a bit differently. So if this mat is thick, yet compressible enough to eliminate the need for shims, that would definitely interest me.

If it's the same no more shims mat that we have over here in the uk it's sold by a company called onceuponastamp and is occasionally shown on createandcraft shopping channel. It's definitely thicker and spongier than the spellbinders tan mat, nothing like the charm plate, and apart from a couple of people being too worried about it being to thick for their bug (you have to stagger the plates) I can't remember seeing any complaints on the uk forums.

At CHA Robert and Gordon, the brains behind the mat came over from the UK to demonstrate the mat to everyone. One of the cool things they showed us was running a flower, a pansy through the cuttlebug with paper and the mat. The shape and colours of the pansy came out beautifully on the paper. You can then use a pansy die, cut and you have the perfect flower. He created a beautiful background paper running several flowers through. Think of the possibilities. After doing leaves use a leaf die strategically placed so the veins of the leaf are centered within your leaf die. Lots of fun stuff to try.

I might have to get one. I could emboss with my Nesties in my Bug with no issues, but my Big Shot is another story. I can't seem to get the shim stack right and I'm so annoyed!!!

Just got my No More Shims embossing mat. Haven't had too much time to play but tried it with my nesties in my big shot and it works great! It comes with instructions for the sandwhich to use in the big shot and cuttlebug. Can't wait to try some of the other things in the videos.

This No More Shims embossing mat looks so amazing. And I promised myself I wouldn't buy anything (except necessities like adhesive) until I get a job. This is going to make it hard to keep my promise.

Will be interested in hearing more about it here on SCS from actual users before I buy.
