Hello! And welcome to the new Digital Scrapbooking challenges here at SCS. I'm Nicole, your hostess, and I'm super excited to be here! I've been a member of SCS for a long time and even spent some time as a gallery admin back in the day before I abandoned cardmaking for my new passion: designing digital goodies--LOL!
I plan to bring you a challenge each week that will inspire you and help you get your favorite memories into your books. My goal will be to make things simple (for those of you who are just dipping your toes into digi), but still challenging enough to interest those of you who are veteran digi scrappers!
- This week we will be playing with layers upon layers of paper! So your challenge is to stack it up. You can arrange your papers however you like on your page as long as you use at least five pieces of paper.
- You must also include a cluster of elements on your page. I have my cluster placed on the bottom left corner of my frame.
- You must include at least one photo.
- Journaling of some sort is a must. I don't care if it's just one sentence--put some journaling on your page! If you're stumped, think about the most important thing you see in your photo and put it on paper. For me, it was telling my daughter all about this season in her life when she was losing her teeth.
Get Your Gold Stars:
- Give yourself an extra bit of challenge by using eight or more papers in your design! How can you work them in without taking the focus off your photo?
- Twist it up! Use the Transform tool (CTRL + T) to rotate your papers 1 or 2 degrees to the right or the left. Experiment with stacking your papers this way!
Tips & Tricks:
- In most photo editing programs (like Photoshop) you can quickly and easily get multiple items on to a page by dragging the image from one window to the other. That means you can open a new document for your layout along with six pieces of paper and drag each one onto your page. This is also a great way to get alphas or elements unto your pages, too! If you can't drag items from window to window, you can always do a simple Copy & Paste (CTRL + C and CTRL + V).
- When clustering a set of elements, don't forget the Triangle Rule from rubber stamping! Group items into sets of three in the shape of a triangle. It's a naturally pleasing combination.
- Do you have a kit you'd like to use, but it doesn't match the colors of your photo? Go Black & White! Is your photo too dark? Play with the Levels sliders (CTRL + L in Photoshop).
You can view all submissions for this challenge here: DGC059 Gallery
To add your page to this gallery, just add DGC059 to your keywords. Please also add SBC11JUL in the keywords. This makes it easier for us to search and find your layouts.
Please remember to come back and post a link in this thread so we wont miss seeing your work! And be sure to leave a little love for others when they leave love for you.
Happy scrapping!

What a great first challenge Nicole. I can't wait to go home tonight to play. It will be a challenge for me to use more than 3 sheets of digi paper so I'll have to find a kit that has lots of coordinating papers to use (among my numerous downloaded freebie files)
Great challenge and great page Nicole! Thank you for volunteering to digi host :-) I hope to play...maybe tomorrow. DD1 has to have an MRI so I may take my laptop while waiting...
This was a challenge but I got all 8 layers in there! I remembered a lesson I took when I was learning digi through Jessica Sprague so I did it over again and the grid was a super way to use lots of digi papers..just had to remember how to inverse and delete!
This clock was made by a customer of my DH (My DH made some of the internal parts of the clock) so it was a pretty special gift. This gentleman is very young for a "Master" clockmaker so I'm hoping that one day this clock will be a valuable collectible. TFL!
Your page is wonderful, Terry. Very classy and i like your cluster, title, journaling and, of course, the photo! Great take on the challenge and getting gold stars.
I just finished my page too and will upload in the morning. Time for bed right now!
Great digi challenge except for the journaling being a must. lol I hate journaliing period (even on "real" scrapbooking) so that will be the challenge for me! Hope to get to this today if the kids let me. Thanks again for starting this back up.
Thanks so much for the challenge. It was a great one and I love doing lots of papers. I used a great kit that has lots of papers that coordinate. I used to look at the kits embellishments first but have switched to checking out the papers first! LOL
This page I did after a shopping spree with my GD on her BD. It was so much fun. She sent me a thank you note that I'm going to have to scan and do a scrap page with that!
Thanks again and you can find my page here Fashion Queen by lhansen148 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers)
I can see there are a ton of resources here, so I will be working my way through them. I decided would post my first attempt at a challenge Josh at Bethany Beach and await your feedback. TIA!

OH..I can't wait for the next challenge....this is really gonna get me in there playing. I'm the only one in my group that does digi...so it's really nice to meet other digi minded people.
I do both digi and paper pages, but it sure is nice to have a place for digi on SCS. I'm so happy Nicole decided to host the challenge. She posted the new challenge today!
