CALLING ALL VSBN TEACHERS!!!
(no teaching certification required).
It's time for Back To School and we need several teachers to fill very important positions. It's time to work on our A-B-C/1-2-3s!When we all Graduate from the Fall VSBN Academy we will have helped our students complete an A,B,C album. The Album Subject is up to the student, the teachers will work on their own pages to show an example to help inspire & educate their students.
Please contact our Fall SCS VSBN Academy Guidance Counselors, Mary_Pat419 (Mary Pat) and LMN (Lela) for your course outlines. Our introductory session will be Friday & Saturday, August 19 & 20. Our main class session will be September 23-25.
(Not sure what an ABC album is please contact us and we'll help you out; or you can check out this sitefor some ideas/inspiration)

Oh my gosh, Mary Pat -- the link you gave us is CHOCK FULL of ideas for an ABC book. I'm excited! There are lots of great themes and suggestions.

YEAY!!!! This will be so fun! I've done an ABC for my daughter when she was a baby and am doing one with my mom using the ABC's for our family. Can't wait to see how it works for VSBN!

I made a 6x6 ABC album with my STAMPINDILLOS stamping group using pictures from our family vacation a couple of summers ago. Everyone had a GREAT time!
Here are a few steps I took to prepare:
* print out lots of pictures
* pick out your favorites and put in plastic sleeves (I just used a small, cheap photo album
* Create a grid with the letters A-Z. Using the pictures as inspiration, start writing down words to go with each letter.
* Beginning with the letters that you have only one word for, assign a word to each picture (I circled the winning word for each letter). I used sticky notes with the letter on it and labeled the pictures at the same time.
I am not sure I will be able to participate...we start school on the 22nd. Wouldn't it be wonderful if my room and paperwork were completely in order by then so I could just relax that weekend and create with all of you! We shall see

Is this going to follow the format of the other VSBNs? In other words, will we only have 2 hours to complete a whole ABC album? Considering the days it has taken me to complete past albums like this, I feel overwhelmed just thinking about it! Can someone please clarify how this will work? Thanks.
I'm sure Mary Pat will see this soon and give everyone some clarification. It's something new for a VSBN format (hostesses too!) so we're all a little in the dark! lol

It's suppose to work like any other VSBN except you can start preparing now. You get to pick your own album theme and therefore you can start your alphabetic word list now & start organizing your photos all prior to the challenge. The full theme is A-B-C/1-2-3s so you already have the A-B-C part ready before you start VSBN.
The challenge will be in the 1-2-3s. Each host will develop a sample page using their letters for their album but the challenge will be for your same letter page (but possibly a different word) following their 1-2-3 requirements. For example, I might use the word Awesome for the letter 'A' but then I want you to do 1-ribbon, 2 pieces of chipboard, & 3+ photos.
A slight difference is that each challenge will be for a double page spread but 1 page each letter. Therefore, the first challenge will be the letters A & B but they will be page 1 & 2 of your album. The host will still design a 2-hour or less challenge (VSBN, including the mini, has 13 challenges therefore it will be 26-hours) that can be used with one page or both pages. It seems like many vsbn players can get a dps done in one challenge & with preparation of the theme/words/pic before VSBN it's hopefully going to be an easy accomplishment.
I've started a prep list HEREand we will add to it as we get hosts & they have their requirements.

We still need 1 mini vsbn host if you're available & about 6 vsbn hosts for September. It's very easy to do even if you're a beginner to SCS PLUS you get to see all the challenges and sample pages weeks before the event in our Host Only Chat Thread. Be sure to contact Lela (LMN) or Mary Pat (Mary_Pat419) so we can get you started :-)

OK. I'm sort of ready...it's been a dark dreary kind of afternoon so I sat down with the baby's first year list from the website provided and listed each letter. Then I went through my photos and wrote down the file names of ones that might fit that letter so I think I might be ready for the challenges now. Hopefully most of them will be adaptable to digi!
I can "teach" for the main event, but I will be away on vacation for the mini. My preference would be for Saturday or Sunday, any time slot, if that's available and you still need a host!

You assigned me a day in the mail already, because I thought I would be gone for the mini. If you still need someone for the mini, it turns out I am available. I could do that instead.

WAHOOO!!!! Less than a week for fun scrappy times here at VSBN! My DDs are back to school tomorrow so it's truly a Back-To-School week for me :-) I hope you can all join us for the Mini VSBN this Friday & Saturday! If not, be sure to check out the Master Thread so you can get caught up before the Main VSBN in September! Can't wait to 'play' with ya'll!!!

Your First Semester of Fall VSBN Academy begins Friday, August 19 at 4 PM (all times posted are EST). Please go directly to your Teacher's Classroom so you can find the steps to create your own ABC album. Your Teacher Schedule is the following:

This might fall into the Silly Category of Questions! Buuuut..... Can someone please tell me what timeline you are working to? If you start at 6pm - is that EST? I am asking as I live in Sydney (Australia) and wouldn't mind participating... except I have no idea which timeline to adjust to AEST. TIA!

Yes...6 p.m. would be EST...hope to see you here! I looked online and EST time is 14 hours behind you so 6 p.m. Friday should be 8 a.m. Saturday your time...hope that helps...just double check me to make sure I'm doing the math right
But the next day would be 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Sunday your time...boy...that would be late or early...depending!
