....you know when you get started on a project and you NEED something RIGHT NOW but you have to order it and then WAIT for it to come and there's no way of knowing WHEN it'll come??!!!
Ok SU demos...PLEASE don't flame me for this, but I really wish y'all could keep inventory on hand. I know why you can't (cost, space...just to name a couple of reasons) but when ya need something, it sure is hard to wait for it to be delivered.... Thanks for letting me vent!;)

Your experience is the main reason I signed on to be a hobby demo! I love my demonstrator (now my upline) but sometimes I just needed to be in control of the UPS Shipping notice - LOL !
Can you borrow from someone (and return when your stuff arrives, if consumable)?
That's what I do. My demo had some paper I needed and she let me borrow it until my pack came in to replace. Are demos even allowed to keep things on hand and sell as cash and carry? I thought I read somewhere about rules on craft fairs and such and they can take orders or do make and takes, but they can't sell cash and carry. Not sure if I'm correct on this or not, but that may be why they don't keep things on hand??
You're right, we're not allowed but the OP knows that. I am a demo and I do let my regular customers borrow when possible if they are in a hurry.

I admit, it seems odd they can't keep basic supplies like adhesives and some tools that people would want regularly. My CM demo keeps things like that in stock, you can buy it from her anytime. If you want to compete with retail, it should be allowed. Just my 2 cents.
CM consultants can lose a lot of money by carrying stock. I have heard many complaints about that from former consultants. SU carries hundreds of items, and has a fairly fast product turnover compared to CM. So it's for our own protection. I'd love to do a bit of cash and carry, but understand why SU has that rule - it is not worth the risk for the demonstrators. I agree it is hard to wait when you have a project in mind- especially those of us on the East Coast. UPS is taking 10 days to deliver my first catalog order after I received the shipping notice (day after I placed the order). Usually it is 7 day, but I think SU was shipping on Sat. to keep up with the demand, so my order sits in a truck over 2 weekends.
I'm a CTMH consultant and I understand why demos don't keep stock on hand. Even if I could I wouldn't be able to afford to keep items in stock. BTW If I place an order on Monday I have the items at my door on Thursday -Friday at the latest. CTMH's turnaround time is awesome. --just saying.

I wish! What I NEED isn't consumable. After making an adorable card, I went to stamp a phrase on it and of course, it stamped CROOKED!!! Right then, I decided that I was unmounting ALL of my wood mounted stamps and now I need the clear cases, like YESTERDAY!!!!!
Maybe use acetate sheets and a binder until you get your order? I can not leave without my stamp-a-ma-jig, I still love wood mounted rubber.

I swear by my stamp-a-ma-jig. I have unmounted stamps, but I still use my stamp-a-ma-jig with them. I also got tired of ruining a whole card by stamping my phrase crooked!

Doesn't sound crazy at all. I did the same thing. I watched this video from GinaK and Stamp TV and now it makes perfect sense! Now I use it almost every time I stamped!

I use the smoother side for everything. I think one side is for one kind of ink and the other for another kind, but I can't remember which is which. I just use the smooth side for everything,
Stamp-a-ma-jig is one of my best friends. I have a great eye but nothing like ruining a beautiful card with a crooked sentiment. I also use it on clear mount stamps. It is a must in my stamping arsenal.

When I first saw the stampamajig my first thought was "what will I ever do with that thing?" WELL....I love it. And I had slow internet at the time and couldn't watch youtube so I had to read things about it. Nothing helps more than watching it being used so when I got DSL that's one of the first things I checked out. It is so helpful. But you know, I saw someone once make their own out of legos!! Really all you need is a consistent corner and a piece of flat plastic!
I'm at an advantage living in Oregon. SU orders go to Salt Lake City, then Hermiston, OR, then Portland, then down to my area for delivery. Takes about 5 business days or less. We have very few retail options in my area so I've learned to be patient and wait for online orders.

I just always stamped on the smooth side because the package directions said to. Then one day I accidentally stamped my image on the textured side. I was positioning a sentiment on a small die cut label. Every time I moved the clear sheet away, the static from the smooth side moved my little label a smidge. Now I know why the directions say to stamp on the smooth side!
