Question Acid Free vs Ph Neutral?? ATG tape

Hello All,

I am needing to order tape for my ATG. I noticed that there is a cheaper tape that is Ph Neutral. Does anyone know if it's just as safe as acid free?
I have googled, yahoo'd, and looked at blogs...no real answer found.

I use the tape for scrapbooking and card making. Any thoughts????

Thanks,
nancy:confused:

ph neutral would also mean acid-free, so you should be OK.

There really is no such a things as acid free to be technical. It is just Ph neutral. Basically, they mean the same thing. People get hung up on acid-free but there is no such thing. EVERYTHING has some acid level. Neutral is the closest to none you can get.

Ladies,

THANK YOU so much for the information! I think I am going to try the cheaper stuff and see how it works. I hate when they use these different catchy terms that all mean the same thing...its so confusing!!

Thanks again to all who replied!!

Neutral means that there is a perfect balance between acidic and basic. Things like lemon juice and vinegar are acidic. Things like bleach and ammonia are basic. Both can burn, and both can degrade your pictures over time. By being pH neutral, the balance between acidic and basic means the effects of one will offset the effects of the other, and protect your pictures.
