V Fold Card

My stampin buddy sent me a card sample she had seen that was a "V Fold Card". She wanted help to do it and I have never seen these before and do not have a clue. Anyone out there able to help us with directions??

Would you be able to share a picture of it? Sometimes people have different names for the same fold, and a picture would help. You could attach a thumbnail here if you don't want to put it in your gallery.

Googling quickly (before work) suggests that it's a basic pop-up technique.

No, but thanks. This is all on the outside of the card. I do have a sample of the card but do not know how to put it on here. Have no mastered that yet.

It actually looks like a double envelope flap on the front of the card --shaped in a V--one smaller than the other. Does that make sense?? I could email you the card sample but not sure how to find that on this site. Could send sample that way.

I have seen one made like this, if it's the one on creat and craft a uk channel.

If it is that one you fold the card in half as normal, mark the centre of the front edge.
Score from the card middle to the centre front.

Now measure 2 cm from the centre fold of the card, mark this. Mark 1cm each side of the centre on the front edge. Score these lines.
It makes an wedge which you just press in gently to make the shape.

Sharron - after rereading your post and looking at the card again, I think you are right. But --I do not do cm's! Ha!! Now, what do I do!!

OK it's about 1/4" and 1/2"

so long as one is bigger than the other it works as you need a wedge shape.

Or you could just measure the card...lol

It is made a slight bit different to how I thought, and have just spent ages trying to work out the folds. only to give up and cheat.

You score your card at the half way mark. to make a normal card mark the edge.Call this Dot A
Mark the centre of the card front Call this Dot B
Mark 1/8" from the B. .Call this dot C.
Mark 1/8" from A. Call this dot D..

From the corner of your card measure uptowards A. only 1" call this E.

Score from A to B. This is the central envelope shape.
Score from C to D.

You need to score from D to B.

Score from E to C.
Repeat on the other side.

It should fold to cheat the card.

You can make E larger than 1" as it is the little flap at each side.

I have made a similar card - not same size but the folded front - called Art Deco I used the Hougie board & the directions in the accompaying book.
I think I have directions somewhere as I showed one of my groups how to make it.
If needed I could perhaps create a pdf of them.

Hi everyone
I bravely offered to create a pdf of how I made this card then found that I cannot create pdf's only read them.
I also know this card as "Art Deco Card"
So I have written a word document & hope I can manage to upload it as attachment. I have a diagram at the bottom of the document which is not to scale but I think it helps show visually what I am describing. This will be my first time at doing this so please bear with me.
I have created it using inch measurements rather than the centimetre measurements which it is usually described in, & also described how to make it with & without the use of a scoreboard.
I am hoping to reproduce this on my blog including photos - but that will take a little longer & I will put a posting here when it is done.
Please comment on the article - good & bad - so I know for another time. Thank you.

I'll have to try this, but on a read-through it looks quite clear.
If you're using Word you can actually probably save as a pdf as well as .doc format, just as a by-the-way.

I meant to add at the end of the instructions - that once this has been made in one size it isn't too difficult to work out the measurements of a different size.

I have finally written a tutorial with photographs on my blog for this card.

As it has taken me a while I am sure you have all by now sorted out how to make this beautiful card.
