Default Graduation Cards...

Ok, after making several graduation cards over the past few days and needing to make MORE tomorrow and Friday, I need more graduation stamps. Seriously, I'm desperate. Right now, I own

SU- Go, Graduate
SU- Happy Grad or something like that (single stamp thing)
SU- Teeny Tiny Wishes-- Happy Graduation

That's what I'm working with. Yeah, it's gettin' OLD

So... What are your favorite Graduation stamps? I am almost certain I'll get "Diplomabella," but I know I want things that are more "generic" too.

Sorry, I don't own any graduation stamps, but do have a couple of ideas you might can use. Last year, a coworker asked me to make a grad card for her niece. Not owning any grad stamps and not wanting to buy any, I downloaded a pic of the niece's school. I converted it to a line drawing and printed it in red (school colors were red and white). It turned out great, and the niece was so pleased, she sent a thank you card for the card. The year before I needed a card for my nephew. I found an online template for a mortarboard and made a card in that shape in his school colors. I added a pocket inside for a gift card.

Just thought I'd offer these ideas. Good luck in getting your cards finished!

I've also made several graduation cards lately. Since I don't have many graduation stamps, I cut out the school emblem from the announcement and build my card around that using school colors and the few grad stamps that I have. That way I still have some variety in the cards.

There are some really cute graduation cards in the gallery here that look like a graduation gown, with a square and tassle attached for a cap. No grad stamps required!

I posted 2 links. The first one is a card from the gallery that was the inspiration for my daughter's homeschool graduation invitations. The second is where I purchased the stamp from. Like you, I was really tired of the couple of sets I had. This being the 5th child to graduate our homeschool, I just didn't know how I could change it up anymore.

If I don't have the stamp I need, I will often generate at sentiment on the computer. There are great poems online and a great forum here: Sentiments for inside the cards...let's start a list by dazzling20 at Splitcoaststampers

Most of my friends are older, and their kids have already graduated, so I haven't done many grad cards. But here is one I made a while back. I used his school colors, dark green, silver and black and put his name on the front with rub on's. I think everyone secretly likes to see their name in print, lol.

I really improvised on this one. I didn't have silver cardstock, so I cut the nametag from a carton that had a silver strip on it. I remember his mom said he really liked the card and set it on his dresser.

I'm not sure how the OP did this but I've had luck tinkering with pictures at this site and it is free. My teenage daughter showed me this one a few years back:

http://www.picnik.com/

You just upload your picture, make the changes you want, save a new version, and download it ... for free!

Hope this helps.

LOVE the Impression Obsession stamp. Beautiful. It's in my cart.

Also love the PTI. I'm going to risk the polymer and get it.

I thought about doing the mortarboard and robe ones, but since I'm working my way through the card sketches, I really need to use stamps.

I bought a stamp at my LSS that says "Class of 2011" made by Northwoods Rubber Stamps.

One thing that I do when I get grad announcements, I try to use the color cardstock of the colors of the school. I also then cut up said announcement, and use the emblem, year, etc...anything that looks cool off of that announcement, and I glue it onto my card. This way, the receiver can keep the card I made because I used the announcement as part of the card. But I do also use stamps as well. But maybe if you cut up the announcements, because, lets face it...we don't keep them long afterwards, this way it gets recycled into the card you make. Hope this helps.

If you feel like coloring hedgies or mice, I have the house mouse graduate and the penny black hedgie stamps and could do you some images?

but, I think I don't own any sentiments for graduations so i just use Congratulations.
Oh and i have an Ippity pile of books with a butterfly at the top that could work for girl cards? (maybe) (heard you've been hitting the books?)

I used Photoshop Elements, but most graphics programs give you the ability to alter your photos in order to obtain different effects.

Thanks for suggestions guys. Im' buying most. Kevin said, "Why buy them? Aren't you about done?"

I pointed out that LAST year I was ASSURED we wouldn't need any this year... one or two max. I need a dozen different designs-- minimum. I won't be caught with my stamps down again. HA

He told me to make sure I don't miss any. Love that man.

I have this set - More info 3 Step Graduation

I can't find it but I have seen a gorgeous card done with several different colored mortar boards almost like a background effect.

Seriously though, if you have graduationitis with your current selection of stamps do you have any hot air balloons, planes, or birds - you could "Time to spread your wings and fly" sort of cards.

I just ordered a graduation set from Taylored Expressions that I really like! There service was wonderful, too! I also bought a set with a die (like a banner) from them that covers many occassions but also has a congrats grad with it.

Don't forget about a punch art owl in a gown and cap....This is a super cute example. Just change up the school colors and layout and your "Happy Graduation" sentiment will never get old!

I saw a great one just the other day, but I guess the person didn't have graduation in her keywords because I don't see it in the Graduation gallery.

Just wanted to say 'thanks so much' for this suggestion!! My sister was having me make some grad cards to sell at her craft store. Since I didn't have any grad stamps I had to go out and buy some. I just found a picture of their high school online, turned it to line art, and definitely know what type of cards I will make for next year. Great effect!!!

I cut the invitation apart and make a card out of that. If I know the colors of the school I try to incorporate them into card. A couple of years ago I got a template of a graduation hat. I make it in the school color or black works. I use gold floss for the tassel and then put gift of money inside in a little pocket that was made folding the card. This takes a 8.5 X 10 piece of cardstock and I think it works really well. I donot remember where I got this pattern but someone in the forum will. Jean

I use the school colors and/or part of the announcement if I have one. Stamps would be CONGRATS! HOORAY FOR YOU! or CONGRATULATIONS (seems stuffy for a HS grad).
also have tiny stars, curlie-qs, mortar board, etc. lots of sparkle and embossing too. Bought a 2005 stamp when my daughter graduated but now it just sits there!

My very outgoing 2nd son graduated from high school Sunday, so I needed many many many cards for his many many many friends who have spent many many many hours at my house. I didn't use stamps, but you can make a lot of these very quickly. I used glossy black cs for my card (it's white on the backside) then adhered a 2 1/2" tall '2011' to the front. I cut that with my Silhouette, but you could just print it or stamp & emboss it. I found a quote online about making a difference, used the computer to print it on white, backed it with brushed silver & adhered it inside. It's very simple, but masculine enough that my very macho son even approved! I'm making his thank you's with the same materials, just with his initials or thanks on the front.

I use stars a lot for graduation, make little card stock caps with a cord tassel, and also the "congrats" embossing folder (looks great with metallic card stock). Lately I've used a Nestie top note-like die in two adjacent sizes in school colors, added a coordinating ribbon and stamped the greeting or just the graduation year.

I made some very simple ones using the Happy Everything set from A Muse Studio.

I can't get the photo to post, but you can view them on my blog or FB page

I am also working on some with the ConGRADulations set. I'll post as soon as I get them done!

I use my round stamp block from Just Rite stampers and customize with the name of the school around the outside and the year in the center. I punch this out with a round punch and then mat. I do a background with the congratulations cuttlebug folder and then put the stamped image on top with some ribbon. My card stock colors are taken from the school colors and I'm done. I make these in mass for all graduates that year, rather than making a custom design for each one. Once I have the stamped image done, they are easy to mass produce. I used a variation of this for my son's thank you notes for his graduation gifts.

Default Grad cards

I've stumbled into quite a nice little annual business making and selling custom graduation cards. I work at a local university, and several co-workers knew I made cards, so I was asked to make some for some graduates. That led into grad cards for local high schools.

Since I didn't have many graduation-themed stamps, I got an idea (I suspect from SCS, but can't find the inspiration card to give credit....sorry!) to make a computer-generated background using the school name and colors. Then I just added a center detail ("Class of ____"), maybe some bling if it's going to a girl, color and cut out a cute grad cap, pop it up and add Stickles to the tassel, and made tiny diplomas, using computer paper and tying with a coordinating color cord.

On the inside, I use a cute "Congratulations" stamp and add another colored grad cap in the corner. I also embellish the envie with more grad caps and Stickles.

These went over so well last year that I've got orders for over 25 this year. At $5/card for the A2 size and $7/card for the A7 size, that's not too bad for a weekend's work!

Here's three from last year:

CSUB Grad card by kitkat55 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

HTH!
