Where to start--My DH is pretty much what I would call a manly man--not much into girly stuff but tolerant (happens after 35 yrs. of marriage). Tonight he went up to Target to pick up some milk. When he walked in he handed me this little box and said "I saw this in the dollar spot and thought you might like it for your cards." SAY WHAT--when I looked at it, it was a piece of body piercing jewelry (little butterfly) for your belly button! Bless his heart, he's trying!!! Little did he know that I had hit the dollar spot today and picked out an ankle bracelet that I thought I could dismantle and use the elements for cards--I had passed on the belly-button jewelry. He had no idea what he had bought, just thought it would look nice on my cards. BLESS HIS HEART!!

That is really sweet. Remeber it is the thought that counts. Although I bet you could figure out some way to use it. I would pass out from shock if my DH every brought home something for me to use on a card. Sounds like you have a good one!

Very sweet! Keep him around! My DH does the same thing...always coming home from Walmart w/ something new and different for me to stamp on...sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not...but it's always sweet. Isn't it great to have the guy you love be so supportive of your hobby?
Judy, I am cracking up here after the story you told me last night! He is your creation and you did it by making him stand in line at Michaels to use that extra coupon with ribbons and brads and eyelets, etc...... too funny!

You have to draw them in slowly before they know what hit them;). When I think of all the things I have done to share in his interests, it seems only fair In the 70's I got a ham operator's license, in the 80's I got scuba certified in a horrible strip pit in Neosho MO in 50 degree water in a wet suit (I looked like the Michelin(?) tire boy). That was the one thing I never regretted. In the 90's I was racing sailboats and packing spinnakers in the galley and hanging my a** off a trapeze wire on a catamaran. I drew the line at motorcycles--never got on it. When he got rear-ended at a stoplight and flew 20 feet thru the air, he wised up and sold that. Now I'm on my butt in the basement enjoying the softer side of life!! I DESERVE A BELLY BUTTON BUTTERFLY!!

I'm rolling here! Just remember it's for your cards! I can just see tomorrows post " Has anyone ever pierced their own bellybutton" by judylb, lol
You know what! Maybe my husband should be at that point by now. After looking at your list of what you've done through the years almost looks like mine! After 19 years, among other things I am an expert on Motorcross stats (I even rode a dirtbike once and unwisely attempted jumping!) and now also ride my own bike along with him. I guess now he'd better show up with a cheesy belly button ring! LOL What do you think?
Are you sure he meant it for your cards and it wasn't a subtle hint that you should get your belly button pierced??? Nah? Okay - just a thought. Very sweet man - a real keeper!!

When we first met he had a Triumph extended fork bike (his Easy Rider phase) and on our first date he showed up riding it. There I was in white slacks and trying to look my best. If you remember hairstyles in the 70's, they weren't conducive to helmets!! When we arrived at our destination I had black oil all over the back of my white slacks and my hair was a mashed mess! Not to mention his fringed leather jacket that was slapping me in the face all the way. There must have been some animal magnetism at work that night:smile:. That was the first and last time I ever rode a motorcycle. He went thru the phase again and you saw how that ended (on the pavement)! He decided there was more to life than leaving a rich widow!!

I had a butterfly belly ring before I had my kids! I'm going to search for that darn thing now and make a card out of it! It would look better on a card than on my belly now! What a funny story! Your hubby's sooo sweet!

Sounds like a SCS challenge in the making!! I'm going to have to really put on my thinking cap for that one. (Hmmmm do I have any flesh-toned cs?)

You guys are too funny. I didn't have any cool things on my belly button ring, just the ring. I have been married a little over a year and DH is already trained. No ribbon goes in the trash until I have inspected it for use later on a card. My stocking is filled with stamping accessories and a gift certificate for M's. I have also made mine stand in line at M's with an extra coupon for something I needed to have. Of course, it costs me hours at Home Depot shopping for the perfect angle grinder, table saw, etc.
Samantha--time is never lost at HOME DEPOT!! Think of all the paint chips, drywall tape, tiles, etc. BTW Keeper looks like a real sweetie.
I have a dh that will stand in line at Michael's too. He also checks the ribbons with me before putting them in the trash too. Judy, is your dog a black and tan dachound? We have one too. Too cute!!
LOL. We were at Home Depot on Monday, looking for lawn stuff, and I tried stopped to look at tiles--I haven't done any before, just read about them. My husband looked at me quizzically and said, "What are you doing?" When I explained what tiles were *really* for, he couldn't stop laughing.
But he does think all my card creations are beautiful. :-)

Yes, that's Gus--he's been part of the family for 16 years. Love him to death!! He's getting a bit grumpy in his old age though.

What a sweet and thoughtful guy you have there! ;)
Oh my gosh I just had to stop back in and am I ever glad I did too. what fun, loving stories everyone has shared. I am sure Judy will create something wonderful with this belly button jewel, you should see how creative she is making cards!
I've enjoyed reading this thread. You have a great hubby!
My hubby buys stamping magazines for me and saves anything that looks like a ribbon. At Christmas, he brought home something from work that looks like red hemp.

Oh, Joni, you are being too nice!! I'm waiting to see if the bellybutton charm makes it to March VSN. At least I'll have the supplies for that one!
