Hello everyone...it's my turn to host this weeks TLC challenge.....Whoohoo!!! My challenge to you is called punched circle edge.
My Belli Challenge teammate, Shelly, developed a super cool technique to make a round scalloped border for a round image using a straight edges scalloped border punch....how cool is that!!!???!!! She created a wonderful tutorial for this technique...you can see it here on her blog. Thanks, Shelly, for sharing this awesome technique with us!!!!!
This is a wonderful technique for those of us who don't have a lot of fancy scalloped circle dies!!!
This is how I created my punched circle edge:
1. Cut a piece of patterned paper 1"x 12"
2. Use a small scalloped punch to punch one of the long sides.
3. Now, cut in from the long unpunched side towards the scalloped edge every 1/4 inch along the whole piece....be careful not to cut into the scalloped area. Cut off about 1/2 inch from the unpunched side so it will be easier to curve around a circle. The whole piece will be about 1/2 wide. You can cut your piece 1/2 " x 12" to begin with but it's a little harder to manage punching the border with such a thin piece.
4. Adhere double sided tape to the back of the round main image layer along the outside curve
5. Adhere the punched border to the backside making sure the punched edge shows from the front. Overlap the clipped pieces so it curves around the round layer. Tape the piece to the back so it's secure.
GREAT challenge!!! Can't wait to try this! I have a few straight border punches that would be beautiful around a circle! Thanks for the info and GREAT challenge!! I'll upload mine as soon as I get a chance!!
so cool I have always thought it looks so nice around the circles like that but as of yet dont have the right punch so I am glad and going to try this right now thanks so much for the challenge...:0)
Wow what a great technique. I'm very excited about using my straight edge punches for a circle. It's getting late so I'll be back tomorrow to comment on your cards. Here is my "In the Round"
SUCH a great technique, Joan and Shelly! I loved how my card turned out! I think this may be the start of something... And what a great way to get an extra bang for the bucks spent on punches and border dies!
This is a great technique. I have borders and cartridges dor my cricut that i could have used, but I really wanted to try this. I had a strip of pink left over from the Bargello technique, so used it again.
Sorry, I don't get it I tried it acccording to what I understood your instructions to be and it certainly didn't work. Is there a video somewhere? I learn much better by seeing it done. thanks
Mary
