Default Slice and Slice Fabrique

Hi everyone! I've been looking at these machines for a bit now and wanted to know, for those who have them, what are your likes/dislikes, ease of use, etc. I would like to use the fabrique one for appliques (obviously) and the regular one for cards, school projects, etc. I would love to hear whatever info you could share with me on them. I have tried the silhouette, cricut and just returned the expression bundle I bought after reading everything that's going on with them. Is it noisy like the silhouette? TIA!

I have the slice elite and really like it; but then I do cards. The only draw back is max 4" in size, and you can only go in pre-programmed 1/2" increments. But, that said, they have a lot of cartridges that I have collected and like. It's a great portable size and easy to use.

I don't have the silhouette, and haven't rec'd my E2 yet, so nothing else to compare it to. I do have the hands free cutting mat, and highly recommend it!! Good luck......

Thanks for responding lovetostamp3! I only make cards also so I was thinking this would be the perfect size for that. As far as school projects, I would think most larger things could be done free handed (possibly...lol). Why do you consider the 4" a drawback?

Sometimes, with the 5 1/2 card size, or doing a square card, I'd like to cut something just a little bigger, for a background shape or flourish, and no go...... Also, with some shapes, it doesn't quite do a 4" due to the shape or word. Hopefully there will be upgrade that will change this in the future....who knows.

I have one of the earliest models of the original Slice (got one of the first boxes my Hobby Lobby put out). Mine had issues from the get-go, but from what I've heard those bugs have been worked out in the newer models. As far as noise goes, I'd say it's not quite as loud as the Cricut (don't know about the Silhouette, as I don't have one), but still makes a good bit of noise. Probably any electronic cutter you get is going to be a bit noisy.

I liked the portability of the Slice, and the images on the design cards (better than most of the Cricut cartridges), but my particular unit was too inconsistent (blade issues, distorted cuts) for me to really fall in love. If I had waited for a newer model, it would probably be a different story. As it is, I've since purchased a Cricut Create that I'm having much better results with (and I like the ability to do larger cuts like shaped cards, boxes, etc.).

Not sure if this helps answer any of your questions - good luck with your decision!
