I know alliesmom was organizing a bulk buy of ink spots that ended at the beginning of September. (Check out the bulk buy section for details). Maybe she could tell you where she got hers. It may not matter to you but I know the gourd farm doesn't ship to Canada (or at least it didn't when I last looked in August).
Do you know if any stores sell them like Joannes or Michaels? I no longer order on line as I had a credit card # stolen by doing that and the only way I will do it now is to send a money order if it is not alot of money.
I haven't ordered from either of these sites myself, so I can't report on their service.
Ranger Industries makes a Cut n' Dry Stamp pad felt (for dye inks) and Stamp pad foam (for pigment inks). These come in 8x10" sheets and are typically sold in rubber stamp stores. These can be cut into any size and turned into spots or custom color pads.
I have both pads but have only used the felt one so far. I was able to make spots, but my problem is that I like the plastic cases the spots come in and I haven't figured out a good way to store my custom spots besides using small plastic bags. This necessitates getting messy trying to work with the spot without something to hold onto. KWIM?
I have to keep looking for something that will work, cuz this is certainly the cheapest way to go in making your own spots.

Tina,
I have looked at Michaels and Joanns but have never found them at either store. Do you have a local rubber stamp store or scrapbook store that might be willing to order for you? That is the only option I can think of unless you might want to try the Ranger Cut n' Dry pads I mentioned in my previous post.
I was recently trying to figure out the same thing, and ended up buying some cheap stamp sets at AC Moore (75 cents each) that came with a small dye cube. I tore out the inked pad and replaced it using a small piece of velcro with a piece of the Cut n Dry pad. It works pretty well, but I do have to keep a small rubber bank around the cube to make sure it closes tight so the pad doesn't dry out.
I made my own in color spots, I used an old box from our SU spots, which I had given away for hostess gifts. I purchased the uninked spots and the refills for in color(s) that year and made my own In Color Spots. You can then put 2 years of IN COLOR in each box. I also put labels in the bottom of the box of all my spots so that if a color was missing I would know which one I need to look for. I am crazy about order and details. I bought the ones that say ink applicator cube.
I just want to let you know that Mardi Gourds store is closed. Yesterday, I received an email mentionning that. I used to order my blank spots there :(
Hi there....so SU will be discontinuing a lot of colors and I'm thinking of getting uninked spot pads and purchasing the ink refills and making my own. Is the gourdsupplies.com site still the place to go to purchase these? How is the quality?

You could get a Visa gift card and order things online that way. Just put on enough money for what you're going to be purchasing.

I bought mine at welburn gourd farm (see link in second post above). I love them. They offer both foam and felt cubes. I prefer the felt pads as they are like the SU spots.

Interesting... I called the gourds farm to inquire about the spots...they only have felt... felt is for dye ink... anyone know where we can find foam uninked spots? Or, do you have an item number that I can give the guy for the foam stamp spots? Please? Thanks so much.

I bought these dollar spots at ac moore, pulled out the foam pad and glued in squares of foam pad I cut up from a ranger uninked pad. I realized last yr I have all these full size pads I hardly use taking up lots of space. Now I only buy reinkers and make my own spots. It wors great.
