Question sentiment for a terminally ill woman

My mom, grandmother & aunt knit "prayer shawls" for people who are undergoing tough times and many are for people who are terminally ill.

I offered to make cards to go with the shawls to the recipients. I'm having trouble finding something appropriate to include as a sentiment.

Any ideas? Suggestions? I've googled but not much is grabbing me.

The card I'm working on now is for my other aunt's mother who is suffering from COPD and CHF. Her time is very limited without a miracle from God.

I'm really at a loss on this one.

I've always liked this sentiment. I thought it was good for parents who had lost a young child, but it might also be applicable here.

I use Thinking of you, You're in my Thoughts, something along those lines.

Hugs and Hope from me to you...

This card is so cheery with the font and flower: no disease likes hope

Courage and strength come to mind for someone who is facing those circumstances.

I've used SU's Thoughts & Prayers for this type of card. There is a "Praying for You" and "Sending thoughts of love and praying for the Lord to sustain you with bright and restful days." It also has a stamp that you could mask and just use "Thinking of You."

Obviously, "Get Well" or anything like that is not appropriate. I agree that "Thinking of You" probably has more meaning to these people than you can imagine. It really says a lot in just three words.

The simple the better......Thinking of you. Being realistic......if a person is terminally ill, nothing can change that. So words implying some sort of change or hope for the better really do no good.

Just let the person know you are thinking of them.

I agree. Letting people know that you're thinking of them will help to comfort them (I think).

There is a Prayer Shawl Ministry home page where you can find prayers to include with shawls. Here's the link:

I like a couple of phrases from SU's Hard to Say set. I use this set a lot with my friends who are battling cancer and other diseases..."I've never known someone so brave. I'm praying for you." and "You are stronger than this. You are brave and courageous. And let's face it, You're my friend so that means you can put up with anything!" and finally, "Life doesn't always happen just as we planned, but I plan to be there for you always."

Those poems are amazing.

I actually just ordered a Stampin Up! set WELLNESS WISHES , " Praying for you during your illness" would be appropriate

These are awesome!! A few could be adapted to the prayers, love, and caring we put into our cards!
These are timely in my life as a dear friend has just begun her healing journey. My sister and a girlfriend both make prayer shawls, am passing these on to them.
Thank you and may God bless you and your day!!

Wow, this is interesting for me to see. I knit and crochet for them and have never seen the prayers to go with them. I belong to a MeetUp group which then sends them to the Prayer Shawl Ministry and I have never actually seen this page!

Since it's a shawl, how about "Wrapping you in love"; or "Wrapping you in peace; or "Wrapping you in Hugs". Just a thought.

This is a touchy one. I agree though. In those situations people can stand back and the person is so lonely. :(

Thinking of youSending love.
Sending prayers.
Some kind of thing expressing you hope their days are without pain....

If you know them well maybe I was thinking of you today when X happened. Like you saw a great rainbow or something and include a pic. Something you both share a liking for.

SU Positve Thoughts stamp set has a simple heartwarming, affirmative sentiment -
Hugs Prayers Love - the words are stacked one on top of another

I am going to use this sentiment on a sympathy card, a get well card for a friend recovering from surgery and a thinking of you card to a friend who’s hubby died a month ago. The sentiment works for all 3 cards.
I used this same sentiment last week to send to a dear friend who had to retire unexpectedly to take care of a family member.

The Positive Thoughts set also has this sentiment: Sending positive thoughts and feel good wishes.
This uplifting sentiment will work for a lot of hard situations - it’s encouraging without being obnoxiously cheerful or demanding the recipient “feel” a certain way.

Suggestion for a handwritten sentiment on the inside of the card:
Just wanted you to know that you are in my thoughts, in my heart and in my prayers.
(I think I found that sentiment in a stamp set that I got from Taylored Expressions many years ago. I tried using it as a stamped sentiment, but discovered that it looked so much more sincere and heartfelt when hand written inside the card.)

I think that is a very wise observation that resonated with me when I read it. Handwritten insides are better IMHO. Don't care if your writing isn't "pretty" I would rather read that myself.

I've had to make a lot of cards for people with serious and terminal illness, and the sentiment that worked best for me was a simple , "You're in my thoughts", or "Thinking of You". I usually stay away from any religious sentiments unless you know that the recipient would appreciate it.

That's a wonderful idea to make cards to accompany the shawls. I think the cards will add a personal touch to the shawls and comfort whoever receives one.
