A LITTLE BACKGROUND INFORMATION::
Riley Children's Hospital is near and dear to Bev's heart! Her grandson, Gabe, was treated there for several years. Gabe was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on the optic nerve at the age of 10. The doctors there warned the family that he could lose his sight and in fact, he did, in one eye. The staff and doctors at Riley were absolutely wonderful. He is now 15 and the loss of his eyesight in that one eye, has not stopped him at all. He's doing well, is very healthy, all thanks to the staff at Riley and of course his own positive outlook.
Gabe regularly made cards for the other children at Riley Children's Hospital. In fact the staff called him "The Card Kid". How nice it would be if cards could be sent there to encourage and cheer other children!
The children treated at Riley are 18 and under. Just a little tidbit!
Thank you Bev and thank you everyone! I think sending cards to Riley Children's Hospital is a wonderful thing for the children being treated there and also a wonderful way to honor "The Card Kid" by following his lead! Thank you for spreading your SCS love! Please feel free to mail your cards all throughout the month of March! If you plan on mailing St. Patrick's Day cards, please send them early on so they will arrive prior to the holiday.
Once you have mailed them come back to us here and let us know they have gone postal!
Blank cards with no sentiment means with nothing written on the inside? Mine have birthday sentiments on the outside, but are all blank inside. It would be no problem to make some with no sentiment on the outside, either, though.
Pixxie......its fine to send birthday cards with blank insides......I think what they meant by blank cards would be just cards with no message on the outside of it...you know like note cards....generic enough to where you could use it for any purpose!
Most of the time, the insides are always gonna be blank so that the recipient can sign them in the manner of their choosing......I realize that sometimes you can stamp Happy
Birthday on the inside too...meaning they would not be totally blank inside but for purposes of someone writing in them, they should be blank......
Good job!
I believe you can send them out any time during the month, and also even after the month ends. It's just this month, this info is provided. Next month, another charity will be featured.

Are they okay not bread might broder line glitter I don't know! thanks hotwheels
Ps Are the card posted inside or dose that matter for March challenge?
Hi guys! I have to be out of town in a meeting all day and I am pressed for time right now! Linda...I will answer your questions later. If a card has glitter on it, it would be best that it does not go to the hospital.
Also, I got an email from Bev (triasimite) and I just want to clarify that its okay to have sentiments on the front of the card, just nothing at all religious. The hospital meant that the inside should be blank. I apologize for my misunderstanding. I thought they wanted some without sentiments like note cards! Oops!
Hugs you all....I will be back when I have more time!
Hi there BittyBadger! Ha! We sort of hi-jacked the thread! But is serious business here too....sending cards to the monthly destination......We will get down to business sooner or later.....ha!
I love your name.....trying to think how you came up with it....you have a minature badger as a pet.......you are a girlscout teacher and you all collect minature badges........You forgot how to spell Betty and that's really your name........your husband nicnamed you that because you live in the woods and one afternoon your husband left the door open and when he came home he found you on top of the refrigerator scared to death and he yelled, oh come on honey, its just a little bitty badger!!!!
Ok...this may sound like a dumb question...but I know some other organizations do make the distinction. I know there is to be no glitter. Are stickles allowed?

Hi, Lee. My grandson, Gabe, is the reason I suggested this destination.
He (as a cancer survivor) has made cards for the kids for several years and he has always used Stickles. Since Stickles doesn't flake off, they would be acceptable.
Thanks to you and all of our SCS friends for doing this for the kids.
Thanks Bev for the help with the stickle question! Lee, your card is precious! And Rita...here you go again! What great cards (alot of them) you are sending to Riley! Thank you!
