Default Watercoloring with Pearl Ex????

Can anyone please tell me how to watercolor with Pearl Ex? I've seen a sample in the gallery, but can't find the technique explained anywhere! Do I mix pearl ex with Lumiere to do this technique! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks so much!

Was the Pearl Ex all over the watercolor or just on a certain part?? I have stamped and colored my image and then sprayed the complete image...sometimes the entire card front with a mixture of hairspray and pearl ex. I buy those small travel hairsprays and add one heaping teaspoon of pearl ex to the bottle of hairspray, shake it well and spray the image. It is quite effective and beautiful. I have several of these small hairsprays (50 ml or 1.7 fl.oz.) with a different color of pearl ex in each (be sure to mark each one) so they are ready whenever I need them. Just be sure to shake well and test-spray on a scrap paper before onto your card.

It was actually watercolored (or painted?) with the pearl ex. She had stamped a flower from In Full Bloom and then colored it in with pearl ex - it looked very shimmery just inside the flower. She called the technique Watercoloring with Pigment Powders. I've also done the hairspray technique with pearl ex and I love how it looks! Thanks! I'm thinking that the only way I can feasibly do what she did is to mix pearl ex with Lumiere - I've never done it, but I guess I'll have to just experiment!

You can also fill an aquabrush with Future Floor Finish (aka Future Floor Wax). Put a little powdered pearlex on a pallette (I use an old CD) and use the aquabrush to pick it up & paint it. The FFW serves as the binding & sealing agent. It's a lot of fun.

You have to make sure you buy the Floor Wax and not the Floor Wax cleaner. If you read the instructions on the back of the bottle - it will tell you to clean your floor first and then use the wax. This is the kind you want. Isn't it beautiful??? Very easy too. I used this for a make-n-take at one of my workshops and everyone bought the Pearl Ex!

Default Check in "Resources"

It's listed there under "Shimmering Watercolor Crayons" - a very inspiring tutorial!
