Here are the details about a meet up for SCS'ers and friends on Saturday, January 29th in Madison. Join us for whatever parts work for you.
9:00-10:15 or so--Breakfast and Coffee at Panera at 6613 Mineral Point Road. This location is just up the road from the Superstore where we are gathering.
We have the entire classroom for two hours. Emily, Robyn, Becky and Jennie (if the date still works out) have volunteered to do a make and take. If anyone else wants to do one too, please post here or PM me. Everyone should bring their own adhesive and scissors--the "teachers" will provide all other supplies needed. Or, I am sure it can be purchased at the store.
Other than chatting and shopping, are there some other things that we might want to do during the two hours? In the past we have had a "gift exchange" of used stamping/scrapping items--like what some do at Christmas. Wrap a used (or "why did I buy this" new item) with a set approximate value. Draw numbers to determine the order, open a gift or chose one that is already opened--steal! Thoughts on this or anything else that you think might be fun?
1:30-3:00--Shopping at Joann's, Mike's and Archivers Joann's is right by the Super Store. Mike's and Archivers are in Greenway Station in MIddleton.
3:00--late lunch, early dinner at Claddagh Irish Pub in Greenway Station Claddagh Irish Pub They do have a private room that I will reserve if we have at least 6-8 that will be eating.
So, how does this sound?
Post here if you plan to attend and which parts you think you will be at. I will keep a running list of names in the second post. If you have any questions or suggestions--post them or send me a PM. I am just setting this up--other ideas are welcome!
Hope you can attend. And yes, since it is January, we know it may be dependent on the weather......................................

I'll plan for Panera, SS, and Claddagh. May join for shopping, but I feel like I may want to take a little extra time to clean up after Make N Take, and then I won't necessarily feel rushed while we are all still in there, kwim? I have plenty of used supplies to trade, so a swap might be fun!
A NOTE on getting to Panera. I see its address is Mineral Point Road, but it's on the corner of Mineral Point and Grand Canyon Drive (controlled by a stoplight), and you will want to turn onto Grand Canyon for the easiest entrance to the parking lot. There is an entrance off Mineral Point road, but you'll actually only be able to get to it if you are coming from the direction of the mall/Gammon Road. If you come from the direction of Whitney Way, you have to turn onto Grand Canyon anyhow.
Got you added Emily--and thanks for the planning the make and take!

Barb, This is so excellent that you're putting this together. Many thanks!

Good Morning--Happy Cyber Monday if that is what you are doing today. I am doing some checks of a couple of sites, but my goal today is to get the main tree decorated. Hope your day is great.
Jean sent me this idea and I think it will be fun. I am not sure how many make and takes we will have that day, but this is a great idea too. What does everyone think?
"I'm thinking we all love learning new techniques or ways to play with stamps. Personally, I like activities that are 'quick and easy' on my part. Soooo, maybe this would be fun: Each person could bring an example (by way of a card or scrapbook page) of the latest thing that's tripping their trigger. Whether it's a new technique they're playing around with or a new stamp (or set) that they're enjoying. It seems like everyone enjoys seeing new ways to play with this hobby of ours, and doing this show-and-tell sort of thing means very little prep for anyone."

I tihnk I want to know what Jean plans to show and tell before I decide if this is a good idea or bad idea. HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHA. ;)
(Actually, I'm confused by what you're proposing. You're suggesting I pick some technique that is interesting to me, make an example, and then teach you all how to do it? Doesn't that mean I have to pack all my supplies and bring them along to effectively show you my technique?
I'm also perplexed because the things "tripping my trigger" aren't necessarily things I know how to do or even things for which I currently have supplies, kwim? And the techniques I'm currently utilizing are pretty commonplace, so I don't know that I'd be sharing anything new. Or can I just yank some pages from a magazine and say "isn't this cool?")

More details, please and thanks.
Good questions, all. First, since you're bringing a make-n-take, I would think that ought to be plenty of a show-n-tell.
For the rest of us, what we would bring would be something we've already done that we liked. And just the end result. We can explain how/what we did, sort of like the 'recipe' is given in a card here in the gallery. I suppose if we have access to a printer/scanner a copy of the card/page and it's recipe would be a nice thing for people to take with them. If someone wants to know more about something they can ask that particular stamper afterwords. Anyway, that's how I'm seeing it. Just an idea.

 I only meant that I didn't want you to share some technique I wasn't interested in. ;)
What? Like the 'put some (OK ... a lot of) paper down before spraying Tattered Angels' technique? (I wonder if we'll see my artwork on the tables when we get there ... lol) I thought the results were sort of ...um ... memorable.

Hey Curds, Aren't you glad today's not the day we planned to meet in Madison for our get-together~(not that we'd go this close to Christmas)? I just drove 45 min. in this nasty storm and it was baaaaaaad! The drive along the Mississippi was beautiful tho!
What's the weather like where you are?

I suppose we'll just have to wait and see, but let's hope the weather cooperates for us!
(Good you're safe and sound. I can imagine the drive was go-jus. )

I went to a 13-hour stamp/scrap party yesterday and it was the perfect thing to do to weather the storm. I waited until the plows went through, and left around 2:30 am. Of course, I had only a <10 minute drive home, so it was fine for me.
I am worried that the card-making party I planned to go to today will be cancelled. I haven't started on my cards yet. EEK.
The beltline on the west side of madison seems to be moving ok, although slower than normal. That's all I can tell from my window other than there's a LOT out there. They've been plowing my apartment parking lot and sidewalks at least since 2 am, so my views of how deep it is are a little fuzzy. A few kids seem to be having fun out there... enjoy it while it lasts, kidlets, when it's 6 degrees for a high tomorrow and -15 wind chills, you won't want to play. BRR!
I've seen the preview for Emily's cute M&T. Any hints on the others?
Hoping the weather is fine on the 29th!
