FEB11VSNMINI4 ~ Fri. Jan 21st ~ 9:00 p.m. EST ~ Paper-Piece Your Heart Out
Title: Paper-Piece Your Heart Out
Hostess: Donna/dbaker3
Keyword: FEB11VSNMINI4
Day/Date: Friday, Jan. 21
Time: 9 p.m. EST
One of my favorite techniques is to paper-piece for several reasons:
1. When I don't feel like coloring line art image stamps but want to use them
2. It's a great reason to show off all the FUN pattern papers I have
3. It gives a whole new look to your creations!!
So my challenge to you is to PAPER-PIECE YOUR HEART out which means you have to paper-piece at least 2 images in your creation!! The more the better to mix & match patterns!! One thing to keep in mind when you paper-piece, is to cut just inside the inked paper, that way when you layer it on top of your stamped image, it looks clean. Another tip is when you layer your patterns, like I did on the Who's that Girl sample, I cut out a layer of her BODY (with hands) outside of the heart so it doesn't look like her hands are buried INSIDE the heart but on top of it! Let me know if you have any questions about that and I can possibly share more pictures (angles to see)

UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. ALL VSN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY Monday at 8pm EST, 7pm CST.
2. You have 45 minutes to complete the challenge.
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword, FEB11VSNMINI4, when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
4. Please remember that you cannot combine VSN challenges if you wish to be eligible for any recognition, awards, and/or prizes that may be handed out.
It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure your card is seen.
My first sample uses Gina K. Designs set Where Your Heart Is (isn't that serendipitous?) and the paper-piecing is the hands/arms. Sorry I decided to just have one paper-piecing on this one since I was making it for a terminally ill male friend and didn't want to make it too feminine with too many patterns.
oh, Donna! I know exactly what stamp is perfect for this challenge!!!!

I'm trying to mix it up with Mix-Ability every Friday (little behind!)
I have a question...do you paper-piece 2 separate things on 1 image....or do you need 2 separate images. Like on the MFT card...is that one whole image, and you just paper-pieced the heart and the dress?
Oh how fun.....I've just discovered paper piecing with stamps...off to see what I can come up with
can't wait to see what you come up with!

you can work it both ways, depending on your image(s) just as long as you use at least 2 pattern papers. Yes, the girl is one image but I used 2 different papers, one for the dress and one for the heart.

OK. If I understand this correctly, I would choose an image (or 2) and stamp them on plain CS then restamp the same images onto a patterned paper? Then cut out the images on the PP and glue them overtop the plain CS image? (sorry...I told you, I don't do stamping much and I've heard of this technique before but never have done it or seen it being done.) Does sound like something I could do in scrapbookiing though!

Really excited to see there is a mini going on this weekend....I do need to make some space at my stampin' table.

You've got it! Just make sure to use 2 different PP. You can DEFINITELY do this for scrapbooking!
