I'm assuming that everybody has a favourite colour or colours.
I also assume that we all have colours of which we are less fond.
What I'm asking here however, is what colour or colours are you "allergic" to. What colour or colours do you simply loathe. What colour or colours make you run away if they are included in a colour challenge?
I am fond of most blues, greens, yellows, reds and pinks.
I really, really, really dislike:
Peach
Salmon
Coral
Beige
Caramel
Most browns (except used as neutrals)
Pale yellow
Light purple/lavender
Purple most of the time
So, what colours are you drawn to, and what colours make you break out in hives?
I'm "allergic" to really bright colors, especially pinks, purples and greens - Pixie Pink, Pink Passion, Green Galore, Orchid Opulence, Tangerine Tango, those sorts.
Other SU colors I don't like much include Old Olive, Kiwi Kiss, More Mustard, Bravo Burgundy, and Handsome Hunter.
However, I love most shades of blue and red, most pastel colors, Chocolate Chip, and Daffodil Delight.
can't think of any more that I really dislike. I like any color, even purple and lavendar if they're used well. Those just happen to be my least favorite.
Even though I don't dislike the color, I find that i rarely use purple on my cards. I actually made a card with purple on it the other day, and was thinking about why I don't use it more often.
I am a Texas Aggie, so ORANGE makes me go into anaphylactic shock!
Which really is difficult because I live in Knoxville, TN home of the TN Vols, and a more rabid orange wearing crowd you have never seen. At least it is bright orange and not the horrid burnt orange that makes me totally sick!
This reminds me of that Geico commercial where drill sargents don't make good therapists and the guy is on the couch saying "..and so that is why I think yellow makes me sad.." so lets get on over to mambie pambie land and gets some self confidence, jackwagon"...LOL
I love that commercial
I don't incline towards reds. I am looking at my Touch markers right now and reds are sadly lacking. I don't hate red, but it's just not what I'm drawn to. I noticed this before when looking in my clothes in my closet and there was no red at all. I forced myself to buy a couple red sweaters, which I only seem to wear around Christmas. They will last forever through, haha!
I love all the colors, with the exception of very dull and neon bright/fluorescent colors. The seasons really have an affect on my sense of color too: I love pastels in the Spring, but want jewel tones in the winter, I like oranges in the fall, but not as much the rest of the year. Greens and pinks are my favorites, and I love Melon Mambo and all versions of teal!
I have trouble working with yellows, mainly because it doesn't look that good on me. I prefer the retired Barely Banana and current So Saffron over Daffodil Delight. Did NOT like Yo Yo Yellow, or most of their old Bold Brights for that matter. And some of their old blues were boring.

My color preferences change with the seasons. I don't know if there is any color I dispise, but I tend to avoid red. It just seems to be too overpowering. I like natural and softer colors the best.
The only specific color I think I don't like much is the very bright orange you see at Halloween. Of course, I don't mind it for that time of year, but otherwise, I would probably never pick it up. I'm also not particularly fond of very pale pastel colors, they seem too insipid and I rarely use the. HOwever, I am very fond of neutrals and most other colors. I tend to use colors sparingly. I think my favorite color, in any shade, down to the really grey hues, has to be blue.
Initially I thought none but as I read your post I remember I don't like to use black cardstock. I am ok with dp of dark background but the patterns on it must be bright and contrasting.
I don't really like peach/salmon/coral colors. Never use them. Orange is not a favorite but I will use it in the fall, I prefer SU's Pumpkin Pie over the retired Only Orange.
Not much of a pink person either. Really hated Pink Passion and Pixie Pink. I am thinking I can stand Pirouette Pink and may buy that this spring just to have a pale pink for Baby Girl cards.
In general dull or washed out colors repel me; it's only in spring that I even can stand to use some pastels. I tend to favor deeper jewel tones or neutrals. And lots of purple!!

These are my dislikes exactly. With the exception of Handsome Hunter, all the colors listed here are my top dislikes.
I like all the other bright colors, especially reds and blues, and I love any shade of purple. (except orchid)

The most distasteful color evah was "Gross Guava" otherwise known as Groovy Guava. Blechhhh! It would bring me down just looking at it. I also realllly disliked Mint Melody. Uh, the minty chills run up my spine thinking of it. Oh and I cannot abide that Kelley green, Green Galore.. uh! Oh no, please take it away!
I also do not like anything in the orange family (coral, salmon, orange, etc.). So imagine my horror to discover this year that my son's hockey jersey is ORANGE! And not a decent orange, but bright, halloween pumpkin orange. And black. So, this year's hockey layouts are going to be HEAVY on the black - I think I'll just let the orange of his jersey stand on it's own.
Other colours I am not fond of:
olive greens
neon colours
yellows (although a buttery yellow is okay, like So Saffron)
true, fire-engine red - I prefer burgundy, or reds that have more of a bluish tint to them - Purely Pomegranate, Cranberry, etc.
teal or turquoise - I prefer truer blues, or truer greens, but not the in-between shades.
But, my friend down the street loves most of these colours mentioned, and she does turn out some beautiful work, so sometimes it's all in the execution and final product - I can look past the colour to see the work.

I love jewel tones. Brites are nice if done right. Pastels are boring. Neurals are girl's best friend. I gravitate to the cool colors. My bedroom is monochromatic purple, my favoritest color ever.
Reds, oranges, and yellows are the bane of my creative existance! Finding a nice shade of any of those colors is a real pain. Although, I recently made a dent in that pile of Tangerine Tango that for soe reason I HAD to have... I still haven't figured that one out.
Well,I think then that I am in the minority because I LOVE orange in all its shades...bright,peach,guava...bring it on
I am allergic to pink and green combinations, especially with lavender thrown in...ICK!
I am also not fond of bright cobalt blue or deep teal colours.
I like other shadesof blue though
There are very few colors I really dislike. For the most part, I think all colors are beautiful. Maybe the only color I don't care for is mauve- that reddish purply pink. Otherwise, I really think I use everything.
Anything pale -- baby pink, baby blue, light lavender, most yellows, light peach, etc. Except pale green which I do like. If it is not love at first sight for a color to me, they usually grow on me. Now the soft/pale ones!

No purples here except I love Almost Amethyst and Elegant Eggplant is alright. Never could embrace River Rock, More Mustard, Dusty Durango, or Soft Suede.
Many time my go to colors are pastel....Certainly Celery, Pretty in Pink, I love gray and yellow together.
I just bought a beautiful baby outfit with those colors and I also saw a wonderful comforter at Target that was gray and yellow.
I love all the blues....Buckaroo Blue, Cool Caribbean, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Night of Navy, Not Quite Navy, Bordering Blue, Baja Breeze....not a big fan of Bashful Blue.
Dislike the Brights-Melon Mambo, Pixie Pink, etc. except can you believe I do like Yo Yo Yellow...I've read soooo many "icks" over the years on that one!
Love, love, love Cherry Cobbler - not big on Rose Red and I've NEVER liked Purely POM!
I always gravitate toward Chocolate Chip. I love Crumb Cake.
Also, sometimes it just depends what a color is paired with!

I think the only color I haven't really liked is river rock. Over the years I have learned to appreciate colors I never was fond of, but that is the one exception.
the only place purple works is in Halloween cards. Otherwise, I do not like much of it at all.
I am not a fan of a bright Royal blue either- other than that...I use just about everything I think-
I don't like purples. <grin> It is neat to see what everyone else dislikes!! Oh, I also HATE Gable Green. That is unfortunately, my husband's favourite colour, so I force myself to use it once in a looooooooooooooooooooooooong while. It oughtta be re-named Garish Gaudy Gross Green. Hurts my eyes. It makes purple look good by comparison.
I am with you, I HATED Mint Melody. REALLY HATED it; with a passion. Just my personal choice of course, I am sure a lot of other people like it, and I am no judge and mean no harm to others!
My FAVORITE colors right now are Baja Breeze and Kiwi kiss, I love that color combo. Blues are definitely one of my favs!!

Groovy Guava was my favourite orange colour. I was so disappointed when it didn't get picked up with the new colours. As a teenager, bright orange was one of my favourite colours, but now I stick to muted ones.
I guess that's why we need so many colours, so we can all have our favourites. I personally have never bought a purple except Pale and Perfect Plum.
I am not fond of neons but honestly, I have learned to love all colors since getting into stamping! Used to hate red, but bought real red, cherry cobbler, riding hood red....love them! I love old olive but love all the other greens too....If you go to the colorlab link, some colors look so beautiful together and I would never have "thunk" it!
I really like most colors but I find it hard for me to use blues. I dont know why but my cards will pretty much attest to that fact. And when I do, it tends to be a blue/green combo like turquoise or bermuda bay type blues. Never really straight up blues too much unless its a boy project.
I do not like bright primary yellow, although I love softer yellows and golds. Mint Melody was one of the worst colors ever. Years ago, SU made an inspiration sheet using Mint Melody, Pale Plum and Perfect Plum. It actually made me feel ill to look at it. Yuck!
I can't stand seafoam green. Never could. Not much a pink person either, but I do like it when it is paired with the right color, like brown. I am quite fond of lime green, but it has to be just the right shade. I tend to keep away from bright greens like Kelly Green. I prefer greens with a little grey in them, both darker and paler shades. Any blue is good with me. I love red, but it has to be a deep true red, not the orangey reds. And orange is tricky. I can't really pinpoint what determines whether I will like a specific orange or not. I just do or don't. Same for purples; either I love it or I don't, on a case by case basis. I really like soft grey, warm or cool, doesn't matter.
Maroon and green. I had school uniforms in those colours as a child and have an aversion to them in everything, decor, clothing, scrapbooking and cardmaking.
Having said that, I try to make it a point to use them in projects, as they are "normal" colours and my aversion is childish.
I can only think of one color I don't really like to create with, and that's hunter green! I even got the new color from PTI but NONE of my patterned papers have this color and I'm just not drawn to it I guess. Any other color is FAIR GAME!
