Tip: If you use the Christmas Tree folder as is from Cuttlebug the top of
the tree is nearly at the edge of the cardstock. I simply cut the folder apart
using an exacto knife. Then I taped a one inch piece of lightweight
cardboard to the folder front and back at the top. Then trim the width
of the cardboard to the width of the plastic folder. (I used the cardboard
from the back of a pad of Debbie Mumm paper packs) Now you will have
the front and back of the folder with the cardboard taped to the top. Line these folders up and tape the top of the two pieces of the cardboard so
now you have an extended folder to run thru your Cuttlebug. By doing this
you will have more room above the tree top to enable you to ink your card-
stock edges or chalk the edges without being too close to the tree top.
Also by doing this your tree will be more centered on a piece of cardstock.
Could you post a picture of what your CB folder looks like now? I am having a hard time picturing it. I am new to the world of CB stuff so it is pretty easy to confuse me.
Oh, life would be so much simpler if Cuttlebug folders were made just a bit bigger, so they'd accommodate a full standard card front. Why don't they just DO it?
I am glad the pics of the extended folder works out better for
you. I had also written to Cuttlebug to tell them I did this and
that it works out better when making a card. I also asked if
they could put the title of the folders ON the folders as well. I
have never heard back from them. But at least now I can use
the tree folder instead of it sitting in the box I keep them in! cp
i write on them with perm marker.....but it would be fantastic if they labeled each one.....maybe i just have too many though, seems it takes a while to find the one i want. i have even put them into categories.....but they get mixed up quickly....
Thanks for sharing this great idea. I don't have the Christmas tree one, but it should work with all the other folders that are too close to the top edge to center on a card front, too. I'll have to try it.
Hi Lorraine--if you want to see the two cards I made using the Christmas tree folder
with the extension you can visit my gallery---candee porter. I made a green tree on the first page--"Green and Gold Tree" and the second tree is on the second page of my gallery and that is red and white entitled Cuttlebug Christmas Tree. I really like that I
did extend the folder as the tree is now centered on the cardstock and not to the very
edge of the cardstock for the tree top--or bottom. I hope this tip works for you. Have a
nice day----candee p
