Default SU WW card stock vs. ?

Anyone found White Card Stock that is heavy and smooth like SU's? I love it but ink just won't stay on it.. I have ink everywhere and it's smears all over!! works great with light colors but if I want to use a dark color forget it!

I have heard great things about both Papertrey and Gina K. They are both heavier than SU and seem to hold ink better.

Do you have to order Papertrey or Gina K online or can I find it in stores?

Yep, you have to order it online. It's awesome, though.

The 80# Snowstorm Smooth by Mark's Finest Papers is wonderful... love it! Another vote for PTI Stampers Select White... Haven't used Gina K's, but have only heard wonderful things about it too.

I was an immediate convert when I tried Gina K's pure luxury paper. It is the only white I use. I love that it comes in two different weights - 120# heavy base weight and 80# for layering. The 120# makes a very nice card base and Copics won't bleed through it at all, which makes it great for coloring on one layer cards. It comes in ivory in both weights, too!

I love both Papertrey's Select White and Gina K's Pure Luxury 120 lb paper. I found Gina K's paper to be smoother and closer in texture to SU!'s paper. Papertrey's paper is a little rougher in texture. If I have a solid stamp (instead of a line-image stamp) I usually use Gina K's paper. Both papers (Gina K and Papertrey) are definitely heavier than SU!'s Whisper White!! I haven't tried Mark's Finest Papers, but they are on my wish list.

I believe the smearing is due to the smooth coating on the paper. The ink does not soak into the paper as readily and doesn't dry as quickly.

Gina K is similar to SU in the smoothness.

Papertrey doesn't seem to have that coating. You might find that ink dries better on it without smearing.

I use Neenah Classic Crest Solar White paper, purchased from the local paper store. It is like the Papertrey in the way it takes the ink, but is brighter white. I have it in two weights, like the Gina K.

You can get Neenah from Marco's Paper -- The Best Source for Paper, Envelopes, Cardstock & Accessories Since 1971 I find it quite superior to most other papers...

I get my white cardstock from Staples. I think it is comparable and much cheaper.

I've switched to Gina K for cards that have a white base for the weight. I've never had SU ink smear on whisper white. Do you use SU ink?

I'm looking for white cardstock to use for bases only. I wouldn't color on it. I understand that Gina K's heavy weight is great for base, but I was wondering about cheaper priced paper to use just for the base. I would use better quality paper for my images.

thanks.

I looked at their website for Neenah, but it does not state how many pieces of paper come in the order. If it does, I didn't see it. Any help appreciated.

What cardstock do you buy at Staples? How do you use it in your stamping projects? TIA

Yep, all my ink is SU. It's a bigger problem with the Darker inks, but When you are stamping with Classic Inks it shouldn't take several hours for the ink to dry.

Marco's website is a little hard to understand at first. I had trouble the first time, but most paper comes in 50 sheet packs. If you have a question, call them. They are the nicest people & can tell you anything you want to know. I use their Cougar 80# white and natural, but they have lots of different brands. Beckett Radience is really nice too. Their prices are really reasonable also.

Package size is a choice. If you go to this page:
Neenah Classic Crest Smooth Cover - Marco's Paper
Towards the top right you choose the color. That activates the choice for the weight. Choose your weight. That activates package size. Choose your package size and it gives you the price.

Zowies! 110 pound solar white in 250 sheet packages is about 3x as much as I paid at my paper store!!

I love Simply Smooth cardstock from Discount Cardstock. It takes ink beautifully and Copic blend really good on it with no bleeding. Jeanne Streiff recommended it to me and boy, was she right!
