Kitsch? I must have had my blinkers on for that one.
Definitely sewing themes, I am thinking.
It surprises me how many owls are still around, I don't think they are finished yet.
I love that little HA typewriter, but I have Snoopy typing, I can't justify another one.
I think that colors will tend to be "happy" and bright. Nothing somber or muted this year. When Pantone introduced "honeysuckle" as the color of 2011, they said that this shade of pink is meant to be positive, uplifting and happy in a somber, downturned economy.
I hope that companies take some risks this year. I want to see something new!
As much as I personally love butterflies and cupcakes, I hope we don't see to many new ones. Enough is enough, LOL!
I enjoy the vintage style and wouldn't mind seeing some fresh renditions.
Sewing still seems to be pretty popular, I agree.
Trees are still popular, but they're so versatile. I bet we see more trees this next year.
I see extremes -- very small and very large images; lots of line images to color; lots of flowers; vintage; sewing; tons-0-layers and embellishments.

Ooooooooh, 'tis certainly the time for crafty speculation!
CHA in Los Angeles will be very telling for these questions. Hopefully we will spot many yummy reports from those who get to attend ... Barely a month away!
hmmmm...purple typewriters with a splash of steampunk...definitely could be a fun year!
I really would love to see some bright and bold colors...love all of the basic grey papers that came out last year...but all seemed muted to me...except green at heart...which had more "color"...
I want to see more new varieties rather than many versions of the same thing. I have so many versions of cupcakes and birds, some owls. Now birdcage is in. Some pple were just commenting to me the other day about birdcages. It just doesn't make sense to them. The common thinking is that desginers are all running out of ideas. Maybe companies should get none stamping pple to design so that there will be more fresh ideas.
I too would love to see lots and lots of purple. SU got rid of most of their purples. Sure didn't see that one coming. PTI has lots O Purple. In stamps, bring on lighthouse, beach themes, fishing and my big one is trees. I can never have too many tree stamps. Oh and I love all the birds.

Purple is really an in color right now, so I too wonder why SU got rid of them. I did break down and buy Concord Grape because I needed a purple. With all the new colors SU has this year, I wasn't going to buy any of the new colors.
I also would like to see some steampunk. And maybe some good dragons for something really different. And Celtic designs. Maybe some tribal designs, like a lot of the tatoos you see. And I'm all for line drawings, since I love coloring them in. Oh, and don't get rid of the snowflakes. I can never get enough snowflakes. Maybe it has something to do with a Wisconsin girl being stuck living in New Mexico.
splash of steampunk???? what is that? Where have I been?
Purple -- no, no, no -- not unless it's eggplant or something similar
Vintage - no
Bird cages - no
typewriters -- yes
more layers - no
cupcakes - blech
butterflies -- yip, but I have plenty
realistic dogs and cats - please bring them on

I asked that same question about 2 years ago when I first ran across a reference to steampunk. Generally it is a style that combines victorian steam age mechanical components with more modern elements. You see a lot gears and cogs. Wikipedia has a good, albiet wordy, description. Also, a search on Google Images will give you many visual examples. I do a variant of steampunk using parts from computers. I made a Chirstmas wreath out of circut boards. It turned out so good I put it up at work every year. And I've made ornaments out of the platters and spindle rings from inside hard drives.
Colors will be aqua, dusty sky blue, navy, coral, silver, copper, honeysuckle pink, persimmon, browns. More twine and natural type embellishments, less flowers and lace.A more clean and simple look with LOTS of white.
I HOPE the cupcakes and big headed, no nose people are done. ENOUGH, I think they are creepy (but I know they won't be)
The big thing will be the matching dies and stamps. I would like to see more realistic animals, dogs, horses, wild animals. It's been a while since African has been in so perhaps that or India type stamps.
I too like the "SteamPunk" look and vintage. I never thought I would as I am OLD myself and already looked at that all my life especially antiques, but I really love "Graphic 45" paper and their look.
I too hope the Copic people are gone gone, gone. I don't like them either and I sure don't like coloring them. It was hard to color people even as a kid in coloring books. Copic coloring is just not for me, I like to color small items, limbs, tree leaves, flowers, but not big items, especially people.
I agree that the "Honeysuckle" new fab color will make things bright and up lifting, Lord knows we need something to uplift us with the way this world is.
I too think these will be in
Purple, all shades
Grey, in many shades
Aqua
Bright Yellow
Lime Green
I too would like a beach theme, shells, light houses, beach houses, life guards, camp themes, boats, etc. (Graphic 45 has a darling "Boardwalk line)
I am ready for cupcakes to be gone too, not too much you can do with them, and they make you hungry.
No rainbows either.
Would love to see a Noah Ark's theme, or even a Doll House theme set and paper to match.
Waving hello to the ladies from MO! I grew up in Columbia...visited there in 08 & 09...boy have things changed!!! I still have a lot of family in the area! My parents had a lake place near Moberly so I've been to Madison quite a few times too. Beautiful country MO is! Hope to visit again this coming summer! The pacific northwest is beautiful too....but I miss the MO sunshine!
I love the typewriter image!!! Think I will snag one of those for sure!
I'd like to see more stamps to use with punches. Would love some beach stamps too. And real animals....pandas, and cows especially. Noah's ark would be great too.
I do hope to see some purples this year. I'm tired of cupcakes and owls.
My wish list for 2011:
* Animals...realistic, as well as, plump & cute....something to Copic
* Lighthouses, shells and starfish
* Water...ocean, splashes, little people playing with the hose
* Vintage telephones (clean lines to use Copics)
* Simple, clean lines with lots to color
* Cute people WITH noses and mouths added (I have asthma and no mouth or nose creeps me out....those little things CAN'T breathe!)
* Can't get enough of Snoopy and Woodstock ;-)
I'd love to see more bicycles and bicycle-related images. I'm a cyclist. I want to see real racing bicycles, not just beach cruisers. I want to see gears and chains and wheels and helmets and floor pumps and all of that. I want to see vintage schwinns, road bikes, track bikes, time trial bikes, high wheel bikes. I doubt that will be coming any time soon though.
I liked owls long before they became trendy, so I won't mind if more owl stuff is available. I will like them long after the trend is done.
I want to see more science and tech-related images. I'm a geek, after all. I want to see better robots, too.
Related to that, Steampunk would be fun but I doubt it will ever go mainstream.
Oh, and bring on the purple! I was sad when I realized SU! ditched most of theirs. Deep, saturated hues are best.
please no purple! Well, I can't say "no purple" because so many people love it, but I won't be buying it! I was looking through my scraps file drawers yesterday, mulling some color choices for my note cards when I noticed one file folder hanging forlornly in the back of one drawer so I pulled it forward to inspect it...yeah all purple scraps...total count 10! I am not a purple girl at all, No disrespect intended to all you purple lovers;)
Now as for the new Honeysuckle color-love it! But I've only ever seen yellow honeysuckle so I'm a little confused by the name. Anyway, bring on the melons, Honeysuckle pinks, corals, etc.
As for what kinds of stamps will be big-surely banners of all kinds-love PTI and Hero Arts new ones! I would loved to see more trees, real trees not branches. And more flowers like PTI's year of flowers and the new lined or striped flowers from Hero Arts. Since I've just gotten into coloring I love them!:-)
I want to see more science and tech-related images. I'm a geek, after all.
Yes! This would be really fun! More little computers, laptops, and all things TECH. I think they would be perfect for masculine cards. This of course is coming from a techie.
I LOVE PURPLE, so more of it, especially in pattern paper would be terrific.
I like how banners are starting to become popular. Would like to see more rainbows. Noah's Ark images would be cute too. Would like to see more stamps for St. Pat's day/Easter/Spring/ Summer/Patriotism etc or along the lines of different nationalities. LOVE the idea of more masculine type stamps/tech/robots.
Cupcakes are done- although they are really cute and versatile.
I think we will also see an increase in different stamp companies offering matching dies to go with their stamps. That is such a fun feature and simplifies alot of design work too. :-)
