CAS100 - Kissing (1/3/11)
What is CAS?
CAS is an acronym for Clean and Simple. Below is the reworded definition.
It's all about the design.
* not the technique
* not the tools
* not the embellishments

January 3: Technique Challenge ~ KISSING
This week's challenge is an old technique called "Kissing." In fact, it was the first technique challenge ever on Splitcoast. (3/3/05) You can see the challenge here.
Kissing Definition: Ink up a background stamp with a dark color and leave it face up on your worktable. You will then need a bold stamp. There are two ways to do this. You can leave the bold stamp uninked or you can ink the bold stamp in a lighter coordinating color. Then you are going to use the BG stamp as your "ink pad" and then stamp on the cardstock as desired. If the pattern doesn't show well, consider using a more defined BG stamp, a darker color ink, or a bold stamp that is larger.

Thanks for another great challenge and the chance (push) to revisit an old technique. I am not sure I have a favorite CAS challenge, just the fact that I am challenged to make something clean and simple (most of the time).

I feel CAS is one of my weaker styles...still working on it....so I really enjoy the challenges that give us a sketch. I feel that this gets me on the road even if I make wrong turns! : ) Thanks!!

Fun technique...my favorite of all was the Candy Crate inspiration (CAS53), but love the CAS challenge every week - even if I can't play. Here is one:

Great question! Here's an alternative.
Ink up your bold stamp and set it on your table face up. Then use a lined designed stamp and press on the inked bold stamp to form a design. Here's one, with lots of trial and error before hand. I should have gone with my first thought, these balloons!

I'll have to play some more with the solid bg stamps! A good challenge, not really easy though, since I played around some.
I have to agree with you Miss Boo, it's a lot easier to do it that way with the solid bg stamps. Also this way, the stamps don't slide around! __________________
