darn it - I just called my hubby because this was on my wishlist for X-mas...and I figured if he hadn't bought it (since he doesn't like to be an crafting enabler) I would go ahead and buy it....and sure enough the one time he doesn't procrastinate....oh well....it's his money he spent and now I know what I am getting for X-mas

Thank you so much for the posting! I have two of these and think they are the best. I recently ordered furniture and designed it around hanging these in the back of it. I may just have to buy more now....
They are designed to fit the SU pads perfectly. They also have inserts to pop in to make the slots less deep.....so you can then fit the staz-on pads and Encore metallics, etc. into the slots. Those pads are the same width as ours just only about halfway deep....if you hold them the correct way.
They have a listing on their website of all the brands and styles of inkpads that fit in the unit. I do remember that the thick style of colorbox pads (such as the full size individual chalk ink) don't fit in any configuration. Those pads are just too tall for each slot. Each individual slot is curved slightly on the edge to help keep the pads from slipping out.
There are excellent graphics and descriptions on this website to help you understand how the system works. They also have traveling options such as covers and straps. I find these are the only system that will hold every type of pad (spectrum hang out the front a bit.....) sold out of the SU catalog. I have been using them for maybe 4 years and have had the ink caddy from SU for half that time.....There is really no comparison. The SU is helpful if you are trying to sell it....but the portaink are solid, sturdy plastic and very well engineered!
I am a fan also because of the excellent service I had when I first purchased. I must have spent twenty minutes on the phone with one of the "engineers" (my day job... discussing the product and how it came to be....and how it would suit my needs.
Anecdote: They had originally had another product designed altogether and just before launching it....SU introduced the newer ink pad style. One of the engineers wives (probably a demo) called an emergency meeting and they had to go back to drawing board and design a deeper unit that is flexible with the insert pieces!! Why would they even try to sell an inkpad holder that can't fit SU pads?!? So rest assured they work quite well to fit them!
Thanks for letting us know. My DH gave me the dual swivel a couple of years ago for Christmas. I just ordered the Marker Buddies that attach to the side of the PortaInk case. They were 50% off!
Plus that will free up some space in my cabinet for more stamp sets, which I believe Santa Baby will leaving under my tree this year!

I've had my new swivel storage unit 3 days now (birthday, not Christmas present), and I love it! Really solid construction and definitely worth the price.
I am new to SCS.com but I am slowly figuring most things out by my self. This one though, has thrown me for quite a loop. When I go to the cdjdesigns.com you've referenced, I get a webpage that is in Chinese! When I ask google to translate, it turns out to be talking something about adding an addition on to a house. anyone getting the same thing or is it just me? I even googled the site and it came up the same way. Weird.
wow... guess i am new. I did a google search for the Portaink and it pulled up your post (from 4 years ago, I now know). I saw the Nov 27 thru Dec 20 and since it just happens to be Nov 30, I got excited and just clicked on the link. thanks for filling me in! interesting way to start off as an active member of the SCS forums. at least maybe the next person to stumble across this thread will read my reply and not have to suffer the same confusion. btw - as a newbie, I am figuring out most of the acronyms, abbrievations, and shorthand I see in the forum threads, but some still eludes me. Is there any sort of lexicon available?:o
Old threads have resurfaced a lot this year. There were Black Friday sales for 2008 in at least 2 other threads. Tried your site also but I only know English so I could not read the site. Than I checked the date.
The mods have a lot to do here so removing sale threads is not in their volunteer job discription. (sp) They have so many threads to check to make sure we are not fighting, saying the wrong words, helping, answering questions, etc. Locking old sale threads is not one of their volunteer jobs. I use the term "job" in the wrong contexts since they are NOT PAID, but volunteer. They have so much to do. See the item on the home page for a thank you to the mods.
