MMTPT122 ~ BELOW IS YOUR FINCH! DON'T WORRY, IT'S A CINCH!
WELCOME TO TEAPOT TUESDAY
THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING TEAPARTY
AND CHALLENGE #122
BELOW IS YOUR FINCH!
DON'T WORRY, IT'S A CINCH!
Note: Anyone is welcome to play! You automatically become a Teapotter the first time you play in our challenge. Also, you do not have to write a story. You just have to be inspired by the teapot or by the story about this week's location! Have fun! If this is your first Teapot Tuesday Challenge, please mention that in your commentary so we can be sure to greet you properly, in pure Teapot Tuesday fashion!
This is my story!
1. First of all, let me tell you that this teapot totally confuses me! I know, I know....it doesn't take much! But why would this birdie be upside down on the teapot? Granted, when pouring tea the teapot goes upside down which in turn, causes the birdie to go right side up but that probably happens a mere 5% of the time. The other 95% of the time, the teapot is sitting on the counter, with the spout up! Maybe the artist *creates* better while standing on her head! Hey, it could happen!
2. You might be familiar with Rocky and his big adventures! He's quite the cat! He's a strong family man now with a wife and two kittens but starting a family has not interfered with his love for adventure, his amazing hunting skills, and down right celebrity in the neighborhood. I must say though, Rocky's celebrity status is slipping a little since a new family of birds moved into the neighborhood causing quite the stir! The Flying Fincharelli's are quickly being recognized as the world's most amazing family of Trapeze flyers. It all started when Fabian Fincharelli, the oldest brother, got fed up with everyone calling him yella, just cause he's yella! Trapeze Flyers are not yella, they are brave flyers that fly with no net, hanging upside down, performing death defying stunts from tree branch to tree branch, sometimes even transferring worms beak to beak, brother to sister, in mid air! It's.....well, its.....death defying and definately not yella! Rocky's sick of these flyer's getting all the attention and he will be gosh darned if some yella flyers are gonna one up him in his own neighborhood! He's got a plan but he needs a little help, go figure!
3. How's it going, Boing. Boing is a bungy jumping instructor, quite accomplished, with 42,000 successful jumps under this belt! His real name is Bing (his mom loved Bing Crosby) but when he began bungy jumping, of course his friends added the o to Bing! Boing! Boing! Rocky figures if he learns how to bungy jump he can one up The Flying Fincharelli's. Duh! Birds can fly! If they get in trouble in a stunt, they just fly to safety! He really doesn't get the whole death defying thing! Cats on the other hand are definately more at risk even though they do land on all fours most of the time! Rocky's master plan is to bungy jump off the tallest tree in the park narrowly missing the ground and on his way up snag a up-side-down Fincharelli to the roar of the crowd and the cheers of his fellow felines! Below is your finch! Don't worry, it's a cinch!
4. To be able to pull this off, Rocky needs a crowd to roar, some felines to cheer! So, in exchange for bringing the world's largest cat crowd, I have arranged free bungy jumping lessons for us! And when Fabian got wind of that, he offered free flying lessons, if we bring birds! Whoo Hoo!! What an adventure, as Eula would say! It's pretty simple this week! If you want to learn how to bungy jump, bring a cat, any kind will do! If you want to learn how to fly, bring a bird, any kind will do. And the option that is my personal favorite which is not necessarily approved by Rocky or the Fincharelli's is to live large! Bring a cat and a bird and learn both! Oh, and we might need a tree or two as it could get a little crowded in the tree tops when the mob gets here.
If you are faint of heart and can't really imagine flying or bungy jumping at all (ya big chicken!) then you gotta come in the back door cuz that's where the spectator bleachers are. We might have to separate the Fincharelli fans from the Rocky fans though, just as a matter of safety! Oh, and did I tell ya refreshments are being served during the show? Yep, tea and cookies!
Teapot Tuesday Destination Station #122:
This week's destination is San Antonio, Texas! Our cards will be send to Linda T. who, like so many, has been battling cancer since May. If that wasn't enough to deal with, her mother passed away during that time. Her chemo ended in October but she continues to struggle having been hospitalized for 4 weeks. She is currently in a nursing facility and needs additional cancer treatment. Our cards will giverher a little something to look forward to each day.
Linda is a very good friend of fellow SCSer/Teapotter Lori Garrison (Chef Mama). Lori is witness to Linda's struggles and is doing what she can to get her through them.
For more detailed information as well as the address to mail Linda's cards to please visit Post #158 of the The Teapot Tuesday Destination Station thread, should you decide to send your challenge card to Linda.
Please remember that just because you participate in a Teapot Tuesday challenge that is combined with a card drive request, it does not mean that you are REQUIRED to send your cards. It is strictly voluntary.
Be sure to you use KEYWORD MMTPT122 in your upload and post a comment here so we can all see your card!
Ever want to get a jump on next week's challenge card? I am posting a sneak peak on my blog each week showing you a glimpse of the following week's teapot as well as a hint of the story! It's at the end of the Teapot Tuesday Post each week. I usually post it a couple days after the Tuesday Challenge is posted. So, be sneaky and get a jump on the other tea-potters! Snort!
If you are confused about these challenges, see the first sticky post of this thread for more information. There is also a directory of individual challenges. Feel free to grab this I survived Teapot Tuesday Badge for your blog!
I'm going with the bird theme....better to fly to San Antonio. (Truthfully, I have more bird images than I do cat ones......and I'm no artist to sketch a cat on my own!) : )
Okay, my card features Homer and Jethro and they are never, ever apart for any reason. So, they are both headed to the tea party in San Antonio. Since Jethro is a bit of a large kitty, I'll be sending a refrigerator along with his kibbles inside - you probably don't want to know!! Here's my card. This should be an uh-oh and a yee-haw tea party!
Rocky wanted me to say......all you guys bringing birdies to the teaparty might just end up in Kathy's fridge! Snort! Hey, Rocky said it, not me.....you know me....I am the nice one that is always encouraging and kind! Snort!
Oh, ladies, you are so wonderful! My mailman won't know what hit when it's full of love from all of you for my dear friend Linda. Thank you Cindy for doing this, too!
Don't know if this is a finch- but it could be! No time for a story, but this little bird perched on this branch did want to be part of the story, even in some small way. Good luck to all today and save me a spot of tea, would ya?
Hi Cindy, I haven't forgotten about the teapotters. I was feeling sick today. I will get my card posted asap. I want to say thank you so much for announcing the quest for cards for Benjamin. You are the best. Thank you.
This is my first Teapot challenge, and if I have any story for Cindy it would be - the rooster may crow at midnight, but this bird flies right side up > For Friends
Ladies, I am just overwhelmed by the love poured out for my friend Linda. This year 2 of my dear friends, both part of a homeschooling group I am a part of, and good friends to each other, were diagnosed with cancer. I have been in 2 different "infusion rooms" this summer. As my friend Kathy, who had breast cancer, said, "This summer I went to Camp Chemo." She is doing well now. We are just on our knees praying for Linda. We don't know day to day what will happen, but we know she is a fighter and she is praying for God to work miracles and strengthen her body. Every bit of encouragement seems to be medicine for the soul, so I just delight in the knowledge that so many of you are sending your cards to my dear friend. Thank you.
Mothermark, I have what you need to clear up the mystery of the upside down bird. The bird is an american goldfinch and they eat upside down. If you have a goldfinch feeder the holes are under the perch. Other birds fly in to feed, but then can't find the holes for the seeds. Goldfinches turn upside down and eat their fill. My sister-in-law showed me some feeding at their feeder and explained when my 84 year old mother thought the birds were drugged or something!!

No way! Snort! Its legit! And here I thought it was some arteest who loved to paint on her head! OMG! Tee hee! Thank you so much! That's what I love about SCS! When we are confused which for me is quite often (giggle!) we get un-confused just by the sheer kindness of someone who does the leg work! Snort!
Your 84 year old mother has a mind like mine.......those birds gotta be drugged! Snort! If a bird was flipping out on some sort of illegal drug, don't ya know it would be hanging upside down somewhere! Ha!
Thank you so much! Whoo hoo! You da man....well, you know what I mean! Snort!

What a nice message Lori......thanks for taking the time....the galler is full of beautiful cards.....in the past some of the people have shared the teapot and story with the recipient of the cards.....and as they read about the story, they begin to see the story in the cards...which might be kinda fun for Linda....you know best.....
Keeping happy thoughts and prayers for your friend.....
Hugs to you!
As Christmas draws near I find myself running out of time so I'm doing 2 new things, I'm combining challenges and attempting a simpler card.
Princess Angel Fincharelli is the albino cousin from Sicily. She has always been one of Europe's finest trapeze artists and at one of her shows she caught the attention of a prince so she is now royalty. She has come to USA to visit the family for Christmas. Here is my "Less is More"
Linda went home to be with the Lord this morning. Please pray for her family.
If you'd like to send a sympathy card to her family, you can address it to the Tuscher Family and send it to me: c/o Lori Garrison, 4606 Purlane, San Antonio TX 78247.
I'm not sure what to do with the beautiful cards you ladies have already sent. I think her daughter will want them at some point, but maybe not just yet.
Lori.....as you know, I am so sorry for your loss. Thanks for being such a good friend to Linda. There are many happy endings to cancer stories and I am so saddened that Linda did not have that.....Thanks for letting us know. Hugs.
