Default Folded Christmas Tree

Hi All! This is my first time posting. I saw on a blog a BEAUTIFUL folded Christmas Tree from 2 sided DP. It started out as a semi circle. I am trying it and I know it is fairly easy, but I just can't get my dimensions as nicely as the blog I saw. Does anyone know about this?

Could you give a link to the blog? The folded tree I know uses a teabag fold and little squares, so it's not the one you're looking for.

Yes, that was the link! Isn't it cute? I didn't know if I should put the link since it isn't my blog. I don't know the true etiquette behind all of this. Obviously, it can be done as you can see from a link from someone in her comments. (I can't post the link because I"m too new at posting.)

Isn't it cute as you can add pretty embellishments? So, I tried to ask her on her blog and she said she'd try to find the measurements. She's so nice, I don't even know her, I just found her blog as I was surfing around the internet looking for ideas. I'm so new to this stamping world and am not very creative, but am loving the ideas.

Let me know if anyone has more specific measurements. Like I said, I understand the idea/theory, but her template (as she stated) got warped and it ended up working okay if I traced the top half of hers. But, if I do want to change the size, it doesn't work, or I can't get it to work for a 5 1/4 in. circle like she stated she did.

No, that wasn't it. But I like your website! As I tried to figure it out on my own, I googled it and there are so many different "folded" Christmas trees! I really like yours too! Plus, I have the stamp set with those little mittens!! I love it. It's so pretty.

One last thing. Since this is the first time I'm posting, I'm getting used to the threads on here. I wanted to be clear since I can't add links yet to any of my posts.

It is the "inkspiredtreasures" link that stamp1 posted.

Understandblue, that isn't the one I was looking at, but I do like yours too. So, that reply was directed to you.

thanks for replying everyone! It's fun to interact with you all and it's my first time ever to be involved in a forum like this.

So, if anyone has hints on how to do the inkspired folded tree, I'd really appreciate it!!

I'm going to try it right now - but my Sizzix die is a 4" circle, so we'll see what happens

Thanks everyone! I'm happy you like my folded Christmas card! Here is a rough estimate of the fold lines. I say rough because each time I've made it, it comes out a little different. Gently fold until you get the tree the way you like it, then press in the folds with your fingers.

Looking at my template on the 5 1/4 circle, coming up from the right edge and measuring from the right tip to the lines. The first line is 1 1/4, the second 3 1/8, last is 4 3/4.

Oh...to get the template to print out exactly, try looking at your Printer Settings and make sure that it does NOT say Fit to Page. You do not want it to resize...select Print As Is.

Hope that helps!

Connie it's awesome!

I just cut the Sizzix 4" circle (And if you're using thinner K&Co DSP - just fold a 12X12 sheet into quarters and you can cut 8 at a time) and eyeballed the folds based on your diagram, and it's freaking adorable!!

Connie, I absolutely love your tree. I have the measurements written down and I am just going to have to try it. It's so adorable.

Connie, I was actually able to make your tree thanks to your great directions and picture. I cut my circles out using the Cricut so that part was easy. The hardest part was trying to figure out where the half-way part of the circle was so I'd know where to cut the circle in half. Most of my circles were a little larger on one side than the other.

My tree isn't for a card, it's more of a free standing decoration but it's a lot of fun to do and if you do it for kids they always love seeing the star unfold at the top. Here's a link to a video YouTube - Kirigami Christmas Tree

Thanks, I'll try that. I was thinking about doing this but I was afraid the crease would get in the way and show up on the tree.

Default Folded Christmas Tree

I am looking for a pattern for a folded Chirstmas Tree that will fit on a card. I don't want iris folding but a pattern (maybe origami) that makes separate limbs or boughs --- sorta like folded triangles or petals-- then it takes about 3 or 4 across a row and 4 or 5 rows up and down to make a tree. I saw this online somewhere and the edges of the folds were punched with a design. Very beautiful . Anyone have any ideas about how to make this???

Thanks to everyone for all your ideas. I haven't found the card I saw but here is a link to another folded paper tree card. I can't read the instructions, my computer won't open. This is on the website of Martha Stewart -Independent Stampin'Up! Demonstrator- seasonsofstamping.com -- click on origami Christmas Tree.

Seasons of Stamping: Origami Christmas Tree

I would post a picture but I don't know how....... thanks everyone.

Default Folded Christmas Tree

Oh, neat, I used a similar tree a long time ago in my Christmas card, but I like your proportions better.

I remember using what seemed like GALLONS of ink for all that green two-sided printing!
