Do I need to worry? My golden retriever got hold of one of my SU ink refill bottle and punctured it. Her tongue is now magenta!!! The bottle does say "non-toxic". I called our vet, and they gave me the number for SPCA poison control. It's $65 to talk to someone there!
Try not to worry...Cats can eat mice etc. and dogs gobble down bones and heaven only know what else..I don't think a little non-toxic magenta (which looks worse than it actually got) would cause any harm. Just keep an eye on her. Maybe try to get her to lick a couple of pieces of cardstock...this might be the invention of a new technique that will sweep the entire SCS population! LOL..sorry my twisted humour just getting in the way.

As it is now 2 hours after the initial post, I certainly hope the Golden Retriever has been seen by a Vet.
Whether the product say non-toxic or not it can be harmful to animals and you should not take the chance. What may not harm a person, could be deadly to an animal.
If you would rush your human child to the ER, I would hope you would also rush your dog or cat to the Vet.
It's better to be safe than sorry.
If your vet won't see you on an emergency basis, find another vet immediately to get to.
Gosh, well...my sweet old lab (now almost 12) was a holy terror as a pup and ate practically everything that wasn't nailed down...even part of my BF's cell phone...at that time, I did have the vet's number on speed dial! I guess, if all your vet recommended was giving you a number for the SPCA poison control, I'd be a tad irritated. I guess, at the very least, I'd use that number that UnderstandBlue posted and get another opinion.
Do you know any vet techs? They are very knowledgeable and helpful too.
My sister's great Pyrenees has eaten: a pound of coffee beans, a jar of peanuts (including the glass) and a whole grackle head first. I thought it was a dog thing until my cat ate embossing powder and most of a dryer sheet.
I guess this is what happens when you don't have thumbs.
When my lab was a puppie, she got into a blue ink pad, chewed it up, put her paws all over it, and left blue paw prints all over the floor of our kitchen! When she yawned, her tongue looked like the head of a member of Blue Man Group!

my german shepherd punctured/chewed on my riding hood red ink refill as well. no adverse anything, other than i was not happy, and it's a dang hard color to get out of carpet!!!

*LOL*...this makes me think of blues clues. My pug ate the F8 key off my laptop.
Wow, reading this, I am thankful my dog sticks to laying under my desk. She doesn't even try and get things I drop. Now the cat, on the other hand, thinks the best time to walk across my desk is when there is wet paint out or an ink pad open. For awhile, I had paw prints in green acrylic paint meandering around my desk.

My cat has had a mouthful of EP in her day and she was fine. When I posted about it here, I got a TON of reprimand about it but lived to tell the hilarious story anyway. (I also got a lot of funny advice such as "don't let the kitty by the heater". lol)
Probably, if it's non-toxic, the dog is fine. I'd monitor him / her today and throughout the evening - just to be safe - but I'm sure it'll be OK! :-)

Dogs digestive systems are pretty strong since they're scavengers by nature, so I'm sure the dog won't suffer any ill effects from the ink. This is a timely post, albeit a little worrisome for the OP. I watched Marley & Me last night. Balled my eyes out at the end....
I love this - I thought my dog was the only one who ate strange things! She ate part of a wooden rubber stamp once. I'm a teacher, and once I had to tell a girl in my class (as I handed back her completely mangled language arts assignment) "I'm sorry, Danielle. MY dog ate YOUR homework..."

Years ago my Irish Setter ate an envelope with 15 $20 bills in it. I spent the whole night taping the bits and pieces together. Luckily, there was at least 1/2 of each bill still in bits big enough to find, so the bank was able to deposit it for me. I got a few laughs there trying to explain - the dog ate my paycheck!
It will not hurt you dog, but you will have some odd colored remains in a day or two...It would not hurt to give the dog a Tums if you think she needs it, but she will be alright...

How does one clean spewed coke off of a laptop?
I can't even begin to list all the stuff my weimaraners have eaten over the years. I'm sure they've hit my craft room as well, but never gotten ink.
As my vet has told me - this, too, shall pass!

Save your drama for your llama.
Just a word of caution, for the cat owners. Please keep ribbon away from them. My cat got some thread like ribbon and it wrapped around her intestine. It cost several hundred dollars to get her emergency surgery and she still has some trouble because of it.
I personally treat my pets as my children. I hope the dog did well. Remember during the holidays --Chocolate not good for dogs. Poinsettias not good for kitties.
I have an Australian Shepherd, Sadie. She was supposed to be a mini...ha! She is my baby. I have been so fortunate with her. She is 3 now but she never tore up anything. I took her to puppy kindergarten and they said to give them plenty of toys and they won't chew. Which has never been my experience in the past. It worked I guess. Hope you dog is ok.

LOL Thats a good one. I know if you are like a lot of people right now and money is tight you'd stop and think before taking a person to the dr unless it was a fracture or something along those lines. I hope the poison control helped you, I've had to call a few times before for children and pets and all was good.
As worrying as it is. I dont think your puppy will have a problem. My chocolate lab (sadly no longer have her) and she ate everything in sight. A friend of mine has a pugalier and it eats wood, leather handbags, house decorations, stickers and cheesecakes and i found out today. And he is perfectly fine.
Again it may just be an upset tummy and interested coloured bathroom breaks.
Glad to hear your dog is ok! Dogs eat most anything. I had a cocker spaniel that loved to eat & shred kleenex/tp. At least he was somewhat considerate w/ shoes. Never touched the outsides but completely chewed up the insides. So my shoes look ok, but they killed my feet. He also ate a good chunk of my redwood gate. He didn't want out, he just wanted a "window" to the front yard.
